or was that roll already there when she moved in? Hang on, she says she wipes with paper towel but then says she doesn't believe in things you use just to throw away "like toilet paper and paper towel". I'm a little curious about that show now. Will they look into whether or not her way of doing things really saves money? For example, the extra water she is using to rinse her clothes in the tub, does she pay for that in her water bill (over not spending $6 a month at the laundromat).

As in "WHAT THE FUCK WAS OBAMA DOING AT THE FIRST DEBATE?!?!?" The ENTIRE campaign up until that point was all about how HORRIBLE a politican and human being Romney is, which the man himself was eager to prove. So what does Obama do when he FINALLY gets the chance to call Mittens out on his never-end stream of radical bullshit...? NOTHING! ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! YOU SO STUPID! STUPIIIIDDDDDDDD!!! Seriously though, for ANYONE that supports Obama and has been following what he ACTUALLY has and hasn't done (which is pretty much the exact OPPOSITE of what EVERY last teabagger says he has), the last debate was his most pathetic moment, and his most costly. Before the debate, Obama was running so far ahead of Romeny in EVERY swing state that no amount of fundraising or campaigning would be able to let him catch up. ALL OBAMA HAD TO DO WAS SHOW UP AND BE HIMSELF!!! Instead, we got this imposter who could barely look up (what the fuck was THAT all about? I kept telling folks he was writing notes until I found out that no note taking was allowed) and refused to stand up to Romney on even one single lie! But the one thing you can't say about Obama is that he makes the same mistake twice, and so I fully expect the Obama of 2008 to be on display tonight. Another bad showing will mean he loses the presdency and all these freedom-hating conservatives will get to run roughshod over over country in a way that makes the Bush years look like Disneyland by comparsion.

This Voter ID is a solution to a problem Republicans can't even prove really exists, but one which stands to disenfranchise thousands. So, your cure is worse than the disease. More to the point, this is being done mainly so the GOP can cut out demographics they don't like shape the electorate to keep them in power. Extremely poor people have time to stand in line for food stamps and housing assistance. Are you telling me that they can't stand in line for a state ID at the DMV? Here's an idea, if its SO FUCKING EXPENSIVE, let's throw in the cost of getting an ID with any government assistance rendered so that they can show their VALID ID when they go to the polls. There, the right to vote of absolutely NO American citizen is being abridged in any way and we can be sure of who, in fact, is casting a vote at the polls. It's not that fucking hard. The argument that conservatives want to disenfranchise ANYONE is intellectually dishonest and bigoted. Showing an ID at the polls is about ensuring that American citizens are the ones casting votes.

Read my post above. Your argument is intellectually dishonest and just wrong. What, there's NO feasible way to get the poor a state ID? Is that what you are really arguing? If a voter ID law is passed, then at the same time, a law should be passed that if a person cannot pay for a state provided ID then they can get federal or state government assistance to pay for such an ID. Then NOT A SINGLE American citizen is disenfranchised. Every single person that is eligible to vote can have a state ID and cast their ballot for Republican or Democrat. Is it really so hard? It doesn't have to be. I want every American citizen to vote.

Vote their conscience. Which is exactly what the people who proposed the laws are hoping to prevent. If that was not the case, why weren't these laws passed just after the last election, allowing people time to get the proper id? The fact is, PA shined a light on what is going on around the country. This is not a sincere effort to stop voter fraud. ACTUAL voter fraud does not exist except in miniscule amounts. These measures are to defeat Obama, and nothing more. Anyone who hides behind the ID for liquor, or any other rationalization, already knows this. They are just playing dumb while hoping for a win.

People responded to seeing that the President actually prepared this time and was aggressive. That doesn't mean he's any better on the issues or can defend his record any better. There is still NO DOUBT that that documentary played a part in firing up Muslims and causing them to rally. Regardless of the reason, attacking a foreign embassy is an act or terrorism. Obama was actually being a responsible leader when he chose his words carefully to speak about the incident before all the facts were in. Romney on the other hand jumped on the incident before he even new anything about what happened to use it as a cheap political opportunity. Obama is right when he says that that is not leadership.

I don't watch PBS; if I didn't learn it in school, it's not worth learning. Cut it. Actually, cut all education funding since I never learned anything of practical use in school. Kids don't need to go to school. They can learn all the math they'll ever need by picking up coins off the streets and dividing their daily findings among other family members. They can learn to read from coupons and free samples of products, which they can then barter with other children. Health Care? Why? A nice cup of hot water (and a little lemon, if you are feeling extravagant) can do wonders for whatever ails you. The military? Cut it. All you need is a prominently displayed sign that reads "USA - Beware of Dog" and all enemies, foreign and domestic, will steer clear. I like to use discarded cardboard boxes to make my signs, but planks of wood or the back of a movie poster will work too.

Terrorism is the use of violence to create powerful emotions that influence policy. Attributing violence to the video does not in any way exclude the possibility that angry people would attempt terrorist tactics to force the change of laws, or punish the west. Video would have been the motivation, terrorism the tactics. It makes perfect sense to downplay the possible Al Queda connection until you know the facts--very similar to what police departments do to downplay serial killers and other things until they KNOW. Because panic is never a pretty thing. The statement about terror in the rose garden was clearly a reference to the violent events. EVERYTHING said in the garden that day was a reference to those events. No one discussed global warming or Save The Whales. Trying to pretend that he wasn't making such a careful, measured reference will convince only partisans. For the rest of America, we have a delightful sound bite of Mitt getting caught like a deer in the headlights, having bought the Right-wing spin machine. And the wonderful moment when Obama smiled and told him to put his head in the noose. My, my. Love my president.

The unemployment rate on Election Day 2008 was 6.1%. The real unemployment rate was about the same...because few had run out of unemployment benefits. The unemployment rate on Inauguration Day 2009 was 7.75%. Again, the real unemployment rate was about the same. Unemployment grew until it capped...and is still at around 8%. The CBO estimates that it will be around 7.8 - 8.5% for the next year if nothing changes in terms of policy. However, real unemployment is currently around 14-15% -- because many Americans have run out of unemployment benefits...and many have simply given up in trying to find work altogether. Obama has NO PLAN to help the economy. He just wants to keep on doing what he has been doing. He complained that Bush was unpatriotic for spending $5 Trillion over eight years. Guess what? Obama spent more than $5 Trillion over just THREE years. And, this doesn't account for the cost of Obamacare lor amnesty for certain "Dream Act" illegal immigrants that Obama is promising either. A little tip, if you're going to talk about U6 unemployment, which is what some call "real unemployment", then you might want to keep track of those numbers for longer than just a few years. Those numbers are ALWAYS greater than U3 unemployment, the numbers we get quoted on the news. Another tip: U6 unemployment has gone down FASTER than U3. As for calling him out for his failed record, your problem is, he saved GM, killed Bin Laden, ended the Iraq War, and passed a healthcare bill even Bill Clinton was unable to get through. Any one of these would be a significant achievement for a President. This President just had the misfortune of trying to kick the ass of the worst economic recession since the great depression, while the assholes of the Republican Party were tying one hand behind his back. We have improved dramatically from where Bush's policies left us, and avoided the worst of the consequences those policies would have handed us. This is a President who handed his supporters Lilly Ledbetter, two supreme court justices, DADT, and many other political victories. You're not talking about a George Bush here, you're talking about a man who knows how to get things done. The biggest problem is that the Republican talking points machine, the conservative media has been beating down on this man, and the Conservatives have been making political war on him since he got into office. From record breaking filibusters to the epic obstructionist, Tea Party debacle of the Debt Ceiling standoff, Republicans have done everything they can to undo 2008, and to force their policies on an unwilling public. And yet you folks, with all your scorn, all your hatred have not kept this President from assuming the dominant position in this election, and the debate last night shows you why: despite all the lies you tell yourselves, there was no teleprompter out there, there was no net for the President when and where he stumbled. But that President nonetheless dominated that debate with his intelligence, his knowledge, and his presence. President Obama is everything you bullshitted yourself into believing George Bush was as a leader, and everything you're in the process of brainwashing yourself into believing Romney is. The big difference is that this not something simply ascribed to him, but something you can see if you actually look at the man.

Women voters. Romney lost a lot of, if not every female undecided voter out there. I laughed out loud at the 'binder of women' comment used to try and prove his credential in hiring women. He doesn't want to give funding for planned contraception. Obama scored BIG when he said that this was not a just a womens isseue, but an ecconomic issue. Romney says that to creater greater equality he wanted to allow women to work more flexible hours so they can get home earlier to the family (what - to make sure they can get food ready to their husbands!?!) Ha ha ha! Then there was the rudeness to the moderator... and the time a woman asked him a question and he ignored her to go back to make a point on a question he wish he had answered better earlier. The implication that everything would be so much better and kids wouldn't go out and shoot someone if only their parents were forced into a (loveless) marriage - bang goes the single mum vote! Can Romney win this question without the female vote? Lets be honest he pretty much has the black and Latino vote sewn up.

It turns out that particular poll had a lopsided sample of southern states, which are like 99% racist rednecks. The reality is that Obama has consistently held a wide lead in electoral votes and that isn't going away. He's also currently railing Romney up the ass 2-1 in early voting. In last night's debate, he rubbed his nutsack all over Romney's weakling, quisling face, and all the Republicans can do is whine about the refs like a bunch of fucking Packer fans. The reason it tilts so heavily is because the sampling numbers from southern states, which will amount to a hill of beans for Romney come election night. In polling, that's what's called an outlier. Look at Gallups numbers from the past. At one point they had McCain up 10 on Obama. And in 2010 Gallup's midterm congressional numbers were completely off. Looks at Rasmussen, a GOP-leaning pollster. They have the race statistically tied among Likely voters. 49-48 for Romney. But in swing states they have 50-47 Obama. All Obama will have to do is win every state Kerry won, plus Ohio. Marist has Obama +6 in Ohio, and PPP has him +5 there. Romney will likely pluck North Carolina and Florida from the Obama 2008 column. Virginia is too close to call. But Obama will certainly carry Nevada and New Mexico, states Kerry lost but he won in 2008, and he'll most likely carry Ohio, which is looking more and more like an Obama firewall. In addition to Romney plucking Florida and North Carolina from Obama, he'll also have to pick up a few reliably blue states, and we're talking deep blue states. The numbers just aren't in Romney's favor at this point, and all this polling data is from BEFORE Tuesday's debate, which was watched by 65 million people, an admittedly small majority of whom agreed Obama won. But if you look at the numbers of independents who watched, Obama won them by huge margins. In Colorado alone, another swing state that in 2008 favored Obama and stands to favor him again this year, indies thought Obama won by 58-36. You take Kerry's 2004 numbers. 251 electoral votes (we're estimating now, since some states have lost or gained a few EVs since 2008, but not by much). You give Obama Ohio. That's 18 EVs for 269 total. You give him New Mexico, which is definite Obama. That's 5 EVs for a total 274. Obama wins. But you also give him Nevada. That's a total of 280. You give him Colorado, which is a likely Obama state. That's 289. But it doesn't matter. Obama won two states ago. Face it. That math just isn't on Romney's side.

Give Obama every state he won in 2012. Take away Virginia, North Carolina, Indiana and Florida, as four of those states are likely Romney states. Obama still gets 290 electoral votes. Take away Colorado. Still 281. Give him back Colorado and take away Ohio. Obama still has 272. The point is he has more paths to victory than Romney. And Ohio going to Romney is unlikely. You also have to factor in today's news cycle. What was talked about on the evening news tonight? The FBI arrested a terrorist. Housing construction is booming. And Obama had a debate victory. Factor in next months UE numbers. Gallup had September at 7.9. It ended up being 7.8. Today's UE numbers on gallup are 7.3. So they'll likely fall anywhere from 7.7 to 7.5 when November 2nd's jobs report is released.

BTW - the leader of the woman's group Romney was talking about has been all over the TV today to explain that Romney was dreadful with his record on hiring women and that he never asked for dossiers and recomendations on who to hire - that they went to him with these binders of recomendations to implore him to take a look at how qualified some of these women were that he wasn't hiring - yet another BS story refuted - and now the media have picked up on hiw truthful Obama was about the oil and piplines whilst Romney was lying through his teeth. They took statistical samples of the a cross-section of the population because the Dewey Wins thing came from a very unscientific poll of people sending in their choice for President through a magazine poll through the mail. I don't believe that every Republican voter or campaigner is evil or un-educated. There are millions out there that are well meaning, good, honest republicans who have strong ideals and are prepared to enter into a debate about what is best for America. Unfortunately few of these actually have the chance to stand for any kind of prominent role within the party as they are seen as moderates and therefore weak by hardcore base. It is such a shame really. There have been Republicans that have done some great things for America - where have they all gone? We haven't seen one for at least two and a half decades. I would love to see a political system where people on both sides of the aisle are prepared to listen to each others ideas, and then make a democratic (thats democratic with a small D) decision on whether that idea can work and should be implimented - it doesn't matter whether the idea has come from the left or right - will it work? will it improve the quality of life? With every right comes a responsibility You have a right to believe that contraception is immoral. You have a responsibility to allow others to hold their own beliefs You have a right to believe that every sperm is sacred. You have a responsibility to allow other to have the freedom of their own choices. Only when the far right understand that the freedoms that they hold so dearly includes the responsibility to allow others to freely have their own beliefs - and issues where your solution is to restrict those beliefs and rights should not be in the arena of politics, only then will real progress be made.

Nate Silver and fivethirtyeight.com forecast the 2008 election to a T. They're predicting Obama with 65.7% chance of re-election. And here's what they say about Gallup:

so i looked on politifact, and while it appears i was wrong about absolutely no benefits being cut, the majority of the cuts are directed at insurance companies. However because of this, the fact its taking place over ten years, and the fact its slowing its growth, the effects on peoples benefits are minimal, and it prevents medicare from going bankrupt

Romney can capture HUGE swaths of voters in the south, where anti-Obama sentiment is high, but can easily lose the EC, as most electoral analyses is forecasting at this point. George W. Bush, remember, lost the popular vote by half a million votes. Plus, that UC study only backs up the falty weighting used by Gallup, where Romney wins the south by +22, but is losing to Obama in every other region. New Marist polls out today have Obama up significantly in Iowa and Wisconsin, above 50 in each poll, states that the UC model is projecting Romney will have to win. And Obama carries Latinos by 70-30, and New Mexico's voter demographics are 40 percent Latino. You really think Obama will win New Mexico?

Quinnipiac (non partisan) has Obama 50-46 in Pennsylvania as of two days ago, where Obama has 52 favorability compared to 46 for Romney in the same poll and where Democrats have a large registration advantage. Marist (non-partisan) has Obama with 51-43 in Iowa, a state you think Romney will win. Marist has Obama 51-45 in Wisconsin, where your UC study says Romney will win. The last poll from Maris had Obama 51-46 in Ohio, but that was on Oct. 13. It's probably tightened by now, but not by much. SurveyUSA more recently gave it to Obama 45-42. That same poll says that early voters have voted for Obama 57-38, a 19 point margin. We'll wait for more polling data to quibble over this state further. Minnesota, where you think Romney will win, has Obama 50-40 as of Oct. 15, according to SurveyUSA. If I wanted to follow your lead and be desperate, I'd quote the outrageous Behavior Research Center poll that gave Obama a 44-42 lead in dark red Arizona, but I want to maintain some kind of sanity when dealing with your desperate lunacy.

It won't even be close. Not in the popular vote(probably a 5-7pt difference), not in the Electoral college(100-120). Unless Obama finds a way to change the trajectory of this, he's cooked. Most polls are also calibrated based on the turnout in 2008, which basically means that Obama has to be up 4-5 in those polls to even have a shot of winning in a normal turnout year, much less a year that heavily favors a republican turnout. Boom goes his Presidency.
