The Behind the Scenes Pic of the Day falls across the land… the midnight hour is close at hand…
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes Pic!
It’s October, so of course I have to dig up some behind the scenes shots from Thriller, directed by John Landis with make up by Rick Baker and Tim Lawrence. Being an ‘80s kid, Michael Jackson’s Thriller kind of defined Halloween for me and my friends. People know it’s a huge song (and album), but it’s one thing to know it was popular and quite another to have been there to see it really take over pop culture, especially when you were able to view that through the eyes of a child.
Today we have not one, but two pictures from the making of that iconic music video. First up is Tim Lawrence working on a quite fantastic looking mold of Mr. Jackson turning all werewolf on us. The second is MJ being de-zombified. Enjoy!

If you have a behind the scenes shot you’d like to submit to this column, you can email me at quint@aintitcool.com.
Would y’all mind stepping back? You’re blocking tomorrow’s pic’s frequencies.

... "so. Michael. Raped any cute boys lately?"
-
His music sucked, his life sucked and he made little boys suck his tiny little grapes. Don't feature him on this site - feature someone worth giving a shit about. Like anyone else. And don't give me any bullshit about how great his music was. It was derivative of better artists all the way.
-
...and, at worst, an aggressive pedophile. But back in the day, Thriller was the shit, and I loved the album and the epic video and the make-up work was fantastic, so let's just celebrate that, shall we?
-
Why do I feel like we've seen BTS of Thriller a billion times?
-

he should have rebooted thriller when he actually looked like a zombie.
by zom-bot.com
i mean, no nose!- imagine the money saved on makeup!
-
I understand why some people get mad Michael Jackson but to deny the fact that the guy was major influence on our culture is just choosing ignorance. And to say it is derivative of better artists? You could say the same thing about The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Lead Belly, Nirvana, Pixies, or any other popular musician. No artist escapes their influences entirely.

I don't think Michael raped anyone. Or at least I want to believe he didn't and it seems plausible to me that he was just emotionally/socially regressed and plain weird from his upbringing
by Autodidact
To say his music sucked is pretty ignorant. Guy is one of the all-time musical geniuses.
-
1) Jackson was never found guilty, nor did he ever admit guilt. 2) The civil settlement he reached with Chandler specifically stated that he had committed no wrongdoing. Ergo, he was innocent. 3) Jackson paid Chandler to shut the fuck up and stop ruining his career (although the damage was already done), not to somehow exonerate himself. 4) It was Chandler who came to Jackson to propose the settlement, not the other way round. 5) Jordan Chandler committed suicide a few months after his meal ticket died. Get your facts straight. Then read between them. Jackson was no Jimmy Saville.
-
Holy shit was it weird.
-
read between those facts you fucking twat. You probably believe OJ was innocent as well - you naive pos.
-
Oct. 15, 2012, 6:47 p.m. CST
Michael on a date with a girl was less believable than the zombies.
by Ingeld
-
But why was a grown man spending time with a young boy in the first place? That should send alarm bells ringing. Maybe he didn't rape him, but he was still a kiddie fiddler. Only the most blind fans would say otherwise (and the justice system is a joke esp with celebs - OJ got away with murder ffs).
-
I'd like to see you look me in the eye and tell me you'd honestly let him babysit your kids.
-
I love the shit out of Thriller.
-
You guys suck.

Lol, talkbacks like these always create a shitstorm
by Turd_Is_Floating_Underneath_The_Gravy
Can't wait for the next Polanski-related one. Jackson was no kiddie-fiddler. However, he WAS extremely psychologically disturbed and repressed, on account of the abuse he suffered from his father. I think the guy actually did believe he was a young kid. He didn't just relate to them, but actually thought he was one of them. See the interviews where he denies plastic surgery for an extension of this: he wasn't merely lying. He actually BELIEVED his own lies. He was a borderline schizophrenic. But, erm, yeah - Thriller. Good, wasn't it?
-
...dies and everyone pretends he was a saint.
-
Because all innocent people pay money to make the lies stop.....................dont they? Fucker wore a glove because he couldnt get the smell of Macaulay Culkins gizzards off his fingers. That shit stinks!
-
The best video ever made by a pedo and someone guilty of criminally-negligent involuntary manslaughter. Burn the bastards!
-
That was @king_knut
-
I didn't bother checking your other so-called 'facts' but one thing I do know is that Jordan Chandler is still alive. His father Evan committed suicide. Maybe you're the one who needs to get his 'facts' straight?
-
he was kinda a sexless peter pan figure. i still like his songs. his hardcore fans are kinda nuts though.
-
However, South Park, as usual, had it right. We can all imagine that it did happen (Stan's dream) and he will forever be suspected. No matterh what, his relationships with children was a twisted, unhealthy thing. He had a bad childhood, and that's sad too, but it doesn't exonerate him from the repercussions of his behavior. I think "Off the Wall" and "Thriller" are flawlessly brilliant albums, but I don't pretend Jackson was a saint, he definitely engaged in some strange, possibly criminal, behavior involving children. No need to defend that shit, it's simply too out of the norm to accept.
-
got away with a shit load. different era then. but he pulled the wool over everyone's eyes.
-
Just like everything else that freak ever did. Good riddance, loser!
-
And so is Gary Glitter's hair.
-
...but I'll argue to high heaven w any tard calling him an overrated talent. Just stupid troll speak...
-
Also gotta admire gary glitters honesty. The whole 'okay, okay, you got me. Im just gonna emigrate and marry a 12 year old' thing was defiantly not what people saw coming at that point.
-
Flavor-Flav was in Thriller
-
no Rock & Roll Part 3
-
Not that I am claiming support to either side of the story, just doing a fact check as King_Nut suggests. You are pretty much correct on everything, as far as I can find, except that Jordan Chandler did not commit suicide. His father did: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1228772/Michael-Jackson-Jordan-Chandlers-father-Evan-commits-suicide-years-accusing-star-molesting-son.html

Great BTS pics....and I doubt that MJ was a pedo...odd yes...pedo no.
by DementedCaver
I could be wrong, but the world will never know for sure.
-
I say that every morning...on good days.
-
I mean come on!! To say that is "good" music and anyone who doesn't think so is "ignorant"? First off, look up the word "ignorant" you mindless fucktard. Music is like anything else artistic - it's subjective and in my opinion it was a cold turd in the time of serious artists who got overshadowed. Anything Prince, Springsteen, REM or Dire Straits did was more relevant than that piece of commercialized cow puke. Beat it? Billie Jean? Thriller? Every fucking song on that record is just a "make me some money so I can fuck some kids and play with monkeys" radio pop shit-hit.
-
Child Molestation is one of the hardest crimes to prove, because there is seldom physical evidence. So it comes down to how a jury feels about the witnesses, which is usually the two individuals. That's what made the Sandusky case easy to prosecute, he was busted in the act, so there were additional witnesses. Most cases don't happen like that. So, MJ getting found not guilty doesn't mean he didn't do it.

Oh fuck yeah Roman Polanski, see a pedo cause he was way less talented than Michael (Peter Pan, Sexless and innocent) Jackson.

Elvis Presley too BTW. Big Pedo. Fat Pedo. Not MJ though. He just liked to hang around with young boys and sleep with young boys. Nothing wrong with that whatsoever.

Lewis Carroll and Woody Allen too. But not MJ, sweet, sweet MJ.

Forget people who only appreciate Michael Jackson when he was Black or dissed him when he turned White..... judging by these BTS pics, his heyday was when he was Green
by Ciderman
And to think Kermit, for a while, wasn't all that happy with his colour either.... just as well he hadn't access to Jacksons' plastic surgeon!
-
Oct. 16, 2012, 5:40 a.m. CST
I reckon he was asexual, and was a terribly abused and broken man, at the end of it all.
by Ciderman
But he was a talent and, considering the list so well typed by jackthekipper, it can be difficult to look back at ones memories, ones own nostalgic view of the past, and see key figures written out, people who had a massive influence in ones formation being shown to have "feet of clay" or worse. Not sure about the Pope though.... he may be the head of an organisation that had, in part, covered up the systematic abuse of children, as seen in my country of Ireland, but I don't think he can be considered a paedophile or a pederast in any way. He may take responsibility for those acts he was a party to, the failure to protect children by failing to act, on evidence presented, against members of religious orders and lay people within the church who were abusing, both sexually, physically and psychologically, young boys and girls in their care. But, with regard to the person discussed in the BTS pic, we see a more complex picture of a man who was, at the very least, a damaged person with a skewed view of the relationships between children and adults. We also seem to have parents who exploit both the vulnerable child and the vulnerable musician to make money in terms of a settlement. And we also are party to a celebrity culture that has covered up the worst crimes over the decades. This is endemic in areas where power is concentrated amongst the few, we have abuse of that power where they feel endemnified to commit any act they wish, Bing Crosby emotionally abused his family over decades, for example, with impunity. we see it in the Catholic Church, in any groups charged with the welfare of the weak, especially in a residential setting. The west has awoken to the abuse, the rest of the world appear to lag behind. TBH we should be happy to see we are in a world where idols who pose a risk are "outed", without the reporter being put at risk.
-
Except for Pete Townsend. He is/was NEVER a paedophile.
-
To see a photo of MJ as he probably looks right now!

I'd let Jacko babysit my kids - in his current condition he's pretty harmless
by Crimson Dynamo
Never quite understood the fans claims he was a musical genius. He was a great song and dance man, but I always thought people behind the scenes like Quincy Jones, Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney helped craft those albums

Thriller is still the best-selling album of all time.
by Christian Sylvain
Michael was talentless? Fuck off.

People who write off MJ's musical talent obviously can dance and sing way better than him.

Oh yeah, most of you probably weren't even born when he was relevant.

And your most likely 250+ lbs.

It's only after Chandler tried to extort money from Jackson out of court (which was refused) that he brought his case to the public eye. The "victim" son Jordan even confirmed that his father was an abusive psycho who forced him to lie about the incident, leading to his emancipation from both his parents in later years. It was all a bullshit scam for money. @king_knut's on the right track.

Darfur, he's enjoying a nice private life in Minnesota away from the paparazzi and the crazy spotlight
by Bobo_Vision
I'd say he won, but Michael will always be the bigger legend.

Friday afterschool you'd go to the park and play ground tag, and then you'd take your allowance and stop to get some candy and this new thing called a VHS rental which our parents never had the luxury of knowing when they were kids. We'd built a blanket fort in the living room and stay up late watching movie and eating candy, perhaps even catching some nudie movie after midnight.

Thriller...Something in the vain of what the Misfits would have done with a budget
by nephilim138
Yet done by the world's biggest pop star of all time...so weird.
-
Hell, I don't even think he was into sex at all. First off, his father treated MJ like shit ever since he was a child (borderline torture for not performing dance rountines correctly) and had to basically grow up without ever a childhood. MJ got older and doesn't even have a "manly" voice at all. My psych professor believes that MJ's father had MJ castrated at a young age. 1. The voice. 2. Doesn't even seem attracted to anyone. 3. Hangs arounds children because he never had an actual childhood. 4. Behavior in public. Oh and his music is a derivative of other music? That's hip hop! So much comes from that. Hell, even Tarantino is a hip hop artist with his movies.
