Less than 24 hours to get GROW UP, TONY PHILLIPS fully kickstarted, way to go!!!
Hey folks, Harry here... We've got less than 24 hours to Kickstart this project to happening! This will be Emily Hagins' 4th feature length film. Starting with her zombie film, PATHOGEN, then her haunting tale THE RETELLING, then with this past year's MY SUCKY TEEN ROMANCE - which picked up distribution, a first, but not the last for young Emily Hagins. The film is to star Quint's multi-talented crazy younger brother, Tony Vespe... who was hilarious in MY SUCKY TEEN ROMANCE... But joining him will be the wondrous Barbara Crampton of Stuart Gordon's RE-ANIMATOR, FROM BEYOND, CASTLE FREAK and SPACE TRUCKERS. Of course, I'll always remember Barbara Crampton as being Craig Wasson's cheating wife from the beginning of Brian DePalma's BODY DOUBLE, it's how I was first exposed to her. Joining Barbara from the world of filmmaking is the mangod A.J. Bowen, who has been kicking ass since I first saw him in the outstanding film, THE SIGNAL, then he was very creepy in THE HOUSE OF THE DEVIL. I liked AJ in HATCHET II, but loved him in A HORRIBLE WAY TO DIE and I hear he's great in YOU'RE NEXT, but I just never feel I'll ever see that movie. Though I desperately want to. SO - let's get this movie made!

I wanted to like My Sucky Teen Romance, but it was awful. Bad writing, bad acting, and bad directing. I'm a big supporter of indie filmmakers working off of a small to no budget, but only when there's some actual talent there. Support should go to those filmmakers out there who could use it and are actually capable of putting out quality films. I know she's a friend to this site, or whatever that connection is, but Hagins is not a talented filmmaker. I get that she is passionate about it, and that she's probably a good person and all -- but she just doesn't have it. AICN should be putting their support behind those TALENTED filmmakers who could use a little help finishing movies that have REAL potential to be good films.

Does my click on any link put money towards the bills? Is that how it works? You make something, then i (in one form or another) pay for it. Should i start sending money so you can buy a ticket to see some film that you can then advise me not to see.. No one, and i mean no-one outside of us knows who or what Emily is or Kickstarter is or what a even Harry Knowles is..... this site is starting to read like a loser's Facebook page. Next thing I know I'll get a message from AICN asking me to "like" Emily Hagins. What the fuck happened to the days when indie (read: low budget) filmmakers GOT OF THEIR FUCKING ASSES to earn the money to make their pictures! Take Kevin Smith: he ran up three credit cards to make "Clerks". To get "Plan 9 From Outer Space" going, Ed Wood pounded the pavement, threw fund raising parties, lied, begged, stole, and even conned the Baptist church into giving him production capital. Bear in mind, this isn't just aimed at Emily Hagins. She's just the straw that broke this camel's back. So, please independent filmmakers, before you just start a Kickstarter page and beg me for my money, show some passion for your project and get creative.

Saves me from having to spend the time from searching through kickstarter to find projects that have a chance, and are probably in a genre I like.

Isn't it time this girl was getting some sort of studio backing, if she was any good? She has had more publicity than 99% of the jobbing directors out there, and four films. Is there nothing about those four films that has alerted a studio or an astute financial backer to her talents? You guys have contacts in Hollywood. Harry is friends with all kinds of film makers. Isn't it time one of those guys; Rodriguez, Tarantino, Jackson, someone with clout and a track record in producing, took an interest in this kid's career? You don't get many more shots at film making with this amount of publicity before in wears thin. Good luck and all but the movie making business is a vicious animal, this girl is going to have to learn that sooner or later. She needs pne of your contacts to mentor her rather than keep begging on here. There are too many people here who either want to get into the industry, or are struggling within the industry, to justify you keep on asking them for money for this kid's career, no matter how talented.
