    Don Knotts

    by i am_notreal

Why is Don Knotts in the Dune miniseries and why is he wearing all that white? Did Andy let him put his bullet in? Just wondering...

  • Vomitronic production values,
another Paul Atreides in his 20's. Will they ever get it right?

    Costuming

    by jadeh

    bitch bitch bitch.

I would recommend checking out 'The Dune Encyclopedia" it was put together but many fans of the Dune universe, fans with degrees in the things they commented on. It has everything from stillsuit examples to the chemical makeup of The Spice in it. Herbert himself wrote the forward and was very impressed.

The stillsuits are almost identical. Of the rest of the costumes, only the Saudarkar are much different from the way described.

    Looks interesting......

    by paul t. ryan

Hope this version of Dune actually does justice to Herbert's original concepts. Say what you like about the costuming, but at least there's some COLOR to it, unlike the movies broad spectrum of greys and browns. But Hatchet Harry as Gurney? Oh well....just wait and see.

    Where's The Sand?

    by horus

I heard this was going to be a *set bound* production , with no location filming{oh dear}..but everyone ,of these pics seems to show a group of about 3 actors, in silly {somewhat tacky} costumes..huddled together.I've hardly seen any sand , let alone huge Dune seas of the stuff.Wheres the epic scope you'd expect. Those Saudarkar costumes , look like British fireman from the 50's, gone a bit samurai! Its still rather hard to recognise any scene from the book..and theres still very little evidence of technology. With its overly coloured lighting , set bound locations and lots of buff men in just their trousers. Some of it is starting to look like that awful ,Mortal Combat tv series! Finally can anyone tell me how spice poisoning is meant to effect the eyes. Its been ages since I read the book but ..I was under the impression that , it was the whites of the eye , that turned bright blue...not the lensed area. Both this version and lynch's seem to show that the coloured section of the eyes change from brown to blue..so I could be wrong.

    Re: Spice Poisoning, the rest...

    by sorcerer

I seem to recall that in the book, spice poisoning turns the eyes pure black- Lynch probably switched to blue 'cause it looks better on film.

The costumes and sets so far- ehh. I'm not knocking the thing yet, mind you, it's just nothing's really impressed me. Same future-medieval-baroque tone as the film so far, I have no idea how it'll look on the screen.

    SPICE EYES

    by jacob corbin

The book says--only about a hundred thousand times--that spice eyes are blue-in-blue. Nowhere, however, does it say the eyes are luminous. Sigh...

    Dune

    by marley

Give it a rest and let's see how it turns out first. Maybe some people should do something else besides nitpick on every little thing. Especially considering that these pictures are just that, pictures. Let's see how it all works as a whole, then nitpick all you want. But seriously, get real.

    Okay, blue, not black...

    by sorcerer

It's been a LONG while since I read the book. I'll give this new version a chance, but I am glad to see some supporters of the Lynch film.

    Emperor Goofy

    by flanner

I always wondered why the Emperor was such a stiffass;now I can see why... if I had everyone in my court laughing there ass's off at my crown every time I turned my back, I'd be mighty pissed too. You can till that the costumer from AMADEUS did that one, it looks straight out of AIDA.Why would the Emperor of the Known Universe wear a bowling pin on his head-come to think of it why did Eygypian Pharoahs wear one?The Jihad must begin- TASTE must be brought to all the worlds.

Dude Playing Paul Atreides is too old

    by derfartistinken

Paul was like 14 or 15 at the beginning of the book. I admit I haven't read it in a while, but he's too freaking old. I like the costumes, they're cool. I'll hold final judgement until after I see the miniseries.
