Give this new poster for HITCHCOCK a glance!
Hello ladies and gentlemen, Muldoon here with a cool new poster from the movie HITCHCOCK that premiered with the sexy folks over at Entertainment Weekly. I'm pretty sure you guys and gals know all about this flick, but to those who don't - Director Sacha Gervasi's film is "A love story between influential filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock and wife Alma Reville during the filming of Psycho in 1959" and stars Anthony Hopkins, Scarlett Johansson, Helen Mirren, Toni Collette, Ralph Maccio, and many, many others. It hits theaters November 23rd. I completely like the look of this poster's retro-ish vibe, but what do you think?

Fantastic poster. You'd never know that was Hopkins in that shot.

I would love a large side of coleslaw, and a nice bit of whipped cream... on a side of murder. A blonde would go lovely as well.

Gotta say, I'm not stoked for this. I all ready know about Hitchcock.
by Nichole
Am i missing some crazy backstory from the making of Psycho? I must be.
-
It's called 'The Girl' and it's about their relationship during the making of The Birds. http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/09/10/the-girl-trailer-hitchcock-makes-the-birds-and-some-moves-on-tippi-hedren/ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2132485/ Both of these look pretty interesting.
-
Nice to see Daniel Larusso again. I must say, Hopkins' transformation is pretty amazing. I haven't seen or heard him talk because Hitchcock had such a distincive slurr so i'm very curious about that. And Scarlett....omg....mmm-mmh!

you guys should watch the online video comendy short with Ralph Macchio called "Wax On, Fuck Off".
by albert comin
It's so funny. Who knew Macchio was such a good comedian? And he's a good sport, because it's a cringe comedy based on the fact he's now 48 and people still call him the karate kid. Very funny.
-
pretty much sets the tone. I'd watch that.
-
The shot of him would have looked much more iconic if it had been in black and white. The color is distracting.
-
hopefully this can be a return to form...isn't he always talking about retiring from acting?
-
Why do productions rival one another like this? It can't be artistic integrity. I mean what are the odds that a normal movie goer will go to both of these, with the feeling that they are going to show something different. its pointless. I thought Anthony Hopkins retired. Or maybe I hoped he did. He is a great actor, but he has none of the appeal that Tommy Lee Jones has been able to keep, who is also a "Veteran Senior" actor.

The first movie in history to open before its trailer.
by No Respectable Gentleman
-
...even weirder is that The Girl stars Toby Jones as Hitchcock.
-
But Hopkins as Hitchcock could be pretty damn good too. In addition to rewatching some of his greatest gilms, I'm gonna have to break out my copy of Hitchcock/Truffaut. It has been a while since I read that great book.

good poster, but I'm still not really into movies about making movies
by Spandau Belly
and I don't really get what's supposed to be interesting about this other than your usual famous-actors-acting-like-other-famous-actors thing that seems to impress awards givers but doesn't really sustain a movie for me.

Scarlett Johannsen cannot act a fuck and Hopkins cannot do any accent other than his own. I predict a pile of shite.

Will Danny Huston ever get the role that earns him a nomination? He is just so damn good.
-
...wow nice job Jessica Biel, for a moment I actually thought she was a real 50's/60's photo insert.

Imagine a new sub genre trend beginning of films about directors.
by Sean
I think we're bound to get Kubrick and Polanski biopics someday, maybe Scorcese. I doubt it would appeal to a great many to watch a movie on a director, but in some cases it could be interesting. Consider: The John Landis Story. Personally i'd like to see one on Lucas because he has more success than God, he's private, shy, had to endure shitstorms of negativity...more than he ever deserved and his dislike of working with actors. I'd watch one on Cameron too...but that's me. A Peckinpah bio could be interesting, he was a character. Is there one on Orson Welles? I dare someone to try and get into the brain of Michael Bay...or maybe not.

t_k_r_l - I'm surprised that no one, even during his run on SNL, has thought of tossing a beard, large aviators and a cap on Andy Samberg and voila - '70s era Spielberg.
by openthepodbaydoorshal
-
What are they waiting for??
-
There was a skit in the first season of SNL, one of the very first episodes, actually, where Belushi played Peckinpah beating the living fuck out of one of his actresses. It's hilarious. Can't remember who the actress was supposed to be, maybe ALi McGraw cuz the skit would have been around the time that that Peckinpah movie with her and Kris Kristofferson as the trucker running from the law.

@Mr baronvonpenguin, fortunatly, Hitchcock was british, so hHpkins accent will not be a problem, since he's british too.

I think Danny Huston was robbed of a nomination for his fantastic work in "The Proposition". But the same could be said about every actor in that movie. His nephew Jack Huston, who plays Harrow in Boardwalk Empire, is also a fantastic actor like him. A family overflowing with talent.
-
"I dare someone to try and get into the brain of Michael Bay" What a terrible thing to wish for. There are tortures less severe.

Ugh, Scarjo. Shoulda got Amber Heard. Heard exudes old school Hollywood starlet charm.

Scarlett has the looks, but then she opens her mouth and she sounds like white trash with a 6th Grade reading level.

No, it doesn't look like Hopkins, but nothing like Hitch either.
by Jack Desmondi
Despite the shot of Hopkins in classic Hitch profile position, he doesn't really look like him. The mouth is right, but he just looks pissed off in the eyes. Hitch just had that superior, I'm better than you look that was graced with self-depracating humor. Or some shit like that. Anyway, get rid of the pissed off look, Tony. You ain't getting him right.
-
After far too much Mondo overload on this site and studio-hack Photoshop jobs from the major studios, somebody made an actual poster that sells the tone of a movie in a fairly clever way. <p> Huzzah!

@Scirocco: You don't say? British is not a nationality. Hopkins is Welsh and Hitchcock was English. I'll say it again, Hopkins is shit at accents. SHIT AT ACCENTS.

See, have Hitchcock turn into Odin & Jannet Leigh turn into Black Widow at the halfway point and I'm sold
by Al
Loki is actually posing as Norman Bates and there's like a time-travel mystical hoojo thing twist at about the halfway point.
-
Oh, I'm sure that was just the best available shot of her... and the cropping was just incidental...
-
She could have been time-traveled straight from that era, the way she looks in this image.

Jessica Biel looks confused and Scarlett Johansson laugh about it
by Sprinky
and oh..i've seen the trailer.Love Helen Mirren.Anthony Hopkins seems to overtly acting like he's Hitchcock but fails on so many levels to catch the essence the man. They should've gone for Meryl Streep.;-)
-
… is actually an homage to Saul Bass, who designed Hitchcock's most iconic titles sequences and posters (Vertigo, North by Northwest, Psycho, etc.) during the director's great mid-1950s – early 60s period. (One would've thought that at least some of the Film geeks here would've pointed that out previously.)
