Who's Up For Captain America's Love Interest Now In THE WINTER SOLDIER?!

Sadly it looks like Anna Kendrick is out of the running for the female role in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, widely believed to be Sharon Carter. When I asked her about her possible involvement a few weeks ago, she told me she couldn't talk about it. But, according to Deadline, Marvel Studios has already moved onto testing a handful of actresses for the secretive role, and Anna Kendrick, the early frontrunner, for now isn't even on the short list.
Emilia Clarke (HBO's GAME OF THRONES), Teresa Palmer, Imogen Poots, Jessica Brown Findlay (DOWNTON ABBEY) and Alison Brie (COMMUNITY and MAD MEN) are in the running, with no real indication as to which way directors Joe and Anthony Russo are leaning.
I'm still holding out hope that Anna Kendrick is in the mix and just hasn't been brought in yet, but, if indeed she is firmly out, Clarke and Palmer would be the two candidates I'd like to see get the most attention here. Hell, anything that gives us more Khaleesi is a good thing.

None of these other chicks look like Sharon Carter. I'd like to see Brie get it, but her voice does not lend itself to the material.

I vote Allison Brie unless the part is English and she uses a horrible british accent like in Five Year Engagement. She's got the personality and range to give us something akin to the amazing chemistry between the leads in Cap. Hayley Atwell captured an ovation making performance. I really hope she gets to do a scene, even a short scene in Winter Soldier, because her presence will only elevate the film. I also really hope she gets a shot at playing Peggy now. I think she could really make us all cry at the time lost. Also, as far as actresses who will be working on tv shows (in a good way) until they become the next Betty White, I think Alyson Hannigan and Allison Brie will have that drive and skill.

Peggy would be, like, 100 years old now. It's her niece who becomes Steve's love interest, Sharon. And in the comics, she is pretty awesome. She is a fighter and a former SHIELD agent. My vote is for either Brie or Clarke.

...which is why I suggested Hayley Atwell to play both parts. But Sharon as Peggy's niece worked in the comics because she was introduced in 1966. I think she'd have to be Peggy's Grand daughter or Grand niece in the movie.

She is not a very good actress, if it is simply based on beauty they pick any of them. Kendrick would have been perfect, Brie has potential. I am not overly familiar with the others.

I'd prefer a brunette again. I know it's just a change of hair color but I think natural looks work better (original hair color). I love Palmer but I don't think her looks would work as well if she was blonde. Based on the photos above I'd go Poots (I know in the pic her hair isn't typical brunette).

Amanda Righetti. The SHIELD agent that was in his recovery room at the end of the last movie. She is smoking hot, resembles Atwell, and it would make sense that that person was Sharon.

Khalessi is going to be pretty busy with the next few seasons of Game of Thrones, while Mrs. Campbell is only in Mad Men in smaller increments. Imogen Poots would be okay though, unfortunate last name and all. The second and fourth ones look like they are way too young. Honestly they look like they should be hanging out with Evan Rachel Wood and her bad little friend in the movie Thirteen. Okay, maybe that is a bit of an exaggeration, but they do look too young, unless this sequel takes place in the 70's and Cap is cruising for some high school girls with Wooderson.

The Russo Bros. were producers of Community (along with Dan Harmon) and directed many episodes of the show, so if Alison Brie is in the running, she'll probably get it, which I'll be happy about.

in the early comics (1960s) Sharon was actually Peggy's younger sister. they didn't look alike especially, and there was a whole storyline where they kept their relationship secret so it wouldn't drive peggy insane. will Sharon be an agent of SHIELD like in the comic?

...than any of the ladies on the short list. There is a gravitas needed for Sharon Carter, and I do not think that any on the list other than Clarke have that. Clarke certainly has gravitas, but I'm not sure she's the right type for the role as it currently exists. Look at Cornish's work and tell me she wouldn't make a good Sharon Carter. Kendrick would be interesting, but I haven't seen too much serious material from her.

OMG! I went to CalArts for theatre with her and she's an incredible actress. It's fuckin insane to see her doing so well these days. Both her and Cecily Strong (new cast member on SNL) are reppin the CalArts talent pool rather well, I'd say.

...just find the one who can act the part and I'll be cool with it. Captain America's next film is last on my list for anticipated Marvel sequels, behind Iron Man, Thor, and Avengers. Hell, I'd rather have a Black Widow or Hawkeye film. I don't like whats-his-face as cap. He's still Johnny Storm to me.

....Anna Kendrick is a good actress...especially in 'Up In the Air'....but please...if we're gonna talk 'superficially'....she is a pretty 5/10 - and nothing more - lady....depends what 'one' wants, I guess....she's quirky looking which is good/bad, depending on one's tastes.....this is a film, so the best actress she get it....regardless of aesthetics....Hendricks isn't ugly.

The obvious answer is to cast Hayley Atwell again, only with a modernized look, natch. She was great in her role and both actors had fantastic chemistry. Her 'resemblance' to her 'aunt' would also suggest interesting character conflicts. So what if she speaks in her native British cadence? I see no reason to recast.

It has to be Palmer, she just looks like sharon carter. Though if marvel really wanted to make things right they would just hire Atwell back. Sharon is supposed to be a almost exact twin for her.

...she certainly has an "in" there, with the Russos, considering her role on Community, which the Russos directed and executive-produced for two-and-a-half years. Although I'm not sure how much power the Russos themselves have at the moment over Marvel, being essentially guns-for-hire (and very cheap guns, to boot). Still, if they want her, they'll likely push for her.

Even though I haven't been particularly impressed by her acting on Game of Thrones (sorry tacitblue), she's the only one on this list who's proven she can play badass convincingly. Teresa Palmer would be the runner-up, I guess.

Though if Emilia Clarke is chosen, there would be absolutly no complains by me. I think she's even prettier with her natural brunette hair. The other girls are all pretty but they mean nothing to me.

That's the trouble with reacting to stories like this, it becomes just a popularity game and doesn't take into consideration the unseen auditions/screen tests/chemistry/rightness for the project and role etc. Of course I love Alison Brie and Emilia Clarke and DEATH to anyone who doesn't, but still...
