Not so much "The Mindy Project" But that's ok, "Raising Hope" is funny enough for two shows, so it all evens out I guess.
-
most that I've laughed at a comedy in a long time.
-
What is the premise?
-
awesome show to watch. still not over the shock of opie's death
-
Wouldn't it be more accurately described as a Shakespearian tragedy on bikes? **spoiler** as for that death, shocked me too. Too bad I didn't see it but stumbled across it in last week's TB. The sort of spoiler there's no way I'll have forgotten about by the time I see the episode (still haven't seen last season, don't get FX, have to rent the DVDs). Not complaining about being spoiled by those who, understandably, wanted to discuss it; I knew the risks and that's what the TBs are for. However, it would be nice if cable shows that are spoiler heavy, like SOA, Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Justified, Homeland, etc, got their own talkbacks. That way those of us not lucky enough to be able to watch first run can easily avoid spoilers by avoiding the entire TB. As it stands now, it is either get spoiled or avoid the entire Tuesday (or Sunday, or whatever) TB not just the show-specific ones.
-
SOA is Hamlet.
-
He's the older brother who never quite grew up; she's his younger sister who had to grow up fast when she got pregnant in High School. But it's not really the premise that makes it funny, it's the execution. Good writing with likable characters played by actors who work well together.
-
Brother and Sister living together, Brothers and idiot, Sister is a single Mom who is unlucky in love. Most of the comedy comes from the idiot Brother and how others react to him.
-
I like your description better. Mine reads like a lame press release written by an apathetic marketing intern.
-
So far: Introduced (and maintained) two outstanding new characters, point blank headshots, had one character watch his one daughter burned alive and then find his other daughter getting play-raped, and murdered off a main-cast character while others were standing by watching.... just a tense, brutal show.

...or should Herc rename this section WHAT HERC THINKS IS GOOD ON TV *PLUS* WHY HE HATES REPUBLICANS?

chrrismredux - I noticed you didn't mention who was on Leno tonight either. So who's on that warrants mention? Who is on all the other chat shows? He didn't mention those either.

Ben & Kate was actually much better than I thought it would be.. But, RAISING HOPE IS ON AGAIN!!!!!! YEAHHH!!!!

chrrismredux- My guide says on Leno tonight is Carol Burnett and Armie Hammer and Lang Lang. Damn you Herc! why didn't you mention th the famous republican Lang Lang!!???????
by Michael Lunney
Is there a last minute substitute?
-
Season 5 has been awesome so far. It's starting out much better than season 4 did (and I really enjoyed that season - even the finale). Still reeling over the death of Opie. A great character who will be missed.
-
I hate Republicans so much I plugged Republican Arnold Schwarzengger's Monday appearance on "The Daily Show," I've been giving rave reviews to Republican Kelsey Grammer's "Boss" and I gave a hugely enthused radio review to Republican Bruce Willis' "Looper." And, oh yeah, I hate Republicans so much I joined the fucking Republican party! Just because I think Mitt Romney is a colossal hard-on and Sarah Palin is a world-class halfwit hardly means I hate Republicans.
-
Jack Black apparently has a really funny walk-on during tonight's Letterman.
-
...that you mock any of them that you disagree with (e.g. your "hilarious" coaxial shots filled with stereotypes of Sarah Palin) while remaining oddly respectful of our current president and his bumbling VP. Herc, are you a Republican who just so happens to vote for the most Liberal of Democrats in every election and ridicules any Republican candidate that stands up to Obama's reckless, failed policies? Sorry, bro: You're the epitome of a RINO. You're about as "Republican" as Barney Frank is a lady's man.
-
This goes way back. Herc is pretty open with his distaste for Jay Leno. As a "journalist," it is natural that one might personally favor one show/personality/ideology over another. However, when someone gives free favorable publicity over and over again for one show (or candidate/personality, etc...), it quickly becomes obvious that something other than "just the facts" is dictating someone's motives. I'm still waiting for Herc to mention that Leno has beaten Letterman for years -- even in the coveted demographic that Herc seems to think is the only important one while ignoring the total viewership.

-
thank you, sir, for your valuable contributions to society.
-
The cast has excellent chemistry, and while Ben is definitely an idiot, he's at least affable and well-intentioned. Plus, Dakota Johnson is extremely bangable. (New Girl was also terrific tonight)
-
I don't love Jay Leno. I prefer to think my reasons for this are religious rather than political. Leno denied Carson three times in the Garden of GethNBC, while Opie died to wash clean the sins of the Sons in the eyes of Pope.

why Herc the fucking Hack hates republicans?? hmmm, lets see....the dullard maddow gets crushed, yet again, by BOR by more than 2:1 on monday....
by jay2517
....and yet NOTHING from the *registered republican* Herc the fucking Hack about it. as redux stated, the NUMEROUS gaffes of biden and oblameya are NEVER mention here, yet we've had (4 year removed) Palin articles out the ass on here on a loop. what a fucking coward, partisan shill u are Herc. pathetic and cowardly. BTW- BOR destroyed the dullard maddow on monday, as he does nightly and weekly, and HtfH IGNORES it. just a reminder...

Maybe because you're the only one that thinks that has any significance, jay2517
by Uncle Pooky
The rest of us don't really care.
-
...took the foot off the gas a little this week. Probably a good thing. This is shaping up to be a fine season. I just wish Sutter would stop picking the songs for the show with a Google word search. Music is meant to evoke the correct emotional response, not to land on the lyrical nose so hard it detracts from it.
-

pooky- u are such a freaking moron. a truly stupid person. i DONT care about the #'s, Herc the fucking Hack DOES...
by jay2517
....or are u to stupid to realize he is the one that points it out when the dullard maddow (very rarely) ties BOR in a stupid demo? im just exposing his *registered republican* hypocrisy.....or do i NEED to explain that to u also? i believe ur problem lies with Herc, u idiot. man, u are a dumb person.
-

Oh, so U don't care about the #'s, U feel it's UR duty to point them out to highlight hypocrisy
by Uncle Pooky
well, I hope that U have a sense of accomplishment after pointing out a hypocrisy no one gives a shit about regarding a topic no one gives a shit about.
-

Also, red ned lynch, you are exactly right about SOA letting up
by Uncle Pooky
felt like this was a breather episode, setting up how things will play out from this point on. Never thought I'd hear the phrase "a thumb and a tit" once in my life, let alone the several we got tonight.
-
...I had a real terror Lyla was going to end up doing something stupid to herself and those body parts would become available. Felt like we dodged a bullet when the episode ended without it happening. Although you know, if it continues to be an issue, I suppose there's a chance Wendy...nah.
-
New Girl was great also, I loved how Schmidt pretended to be a Romney son.
-
I love New Girl.

Loving New Girl S2, But Ben & Kate Had My Biggest SIngle Laugh Last night
by Crow3711
I actually laughed out loud by myself for like a minute when Ben was explaining the tragic boating accident "Kind of blew it on that one. there was a lot of chop." something along those lines. hilarious. but new girl was still overall better

People like you are the reason the Republican party fell apart. You can have Republican views without being a far right nutcase. The reason Reagan was so popular was because he was able to reach across the aisle. This new Tea Party-controlled party has moved far away from Reagan into downright extremism. This is why Romney can't seal the deal.
-
When I reread mine I thought it really sounded like a press release. I wouldn't be surprised if I unintentionally plagiarized a TV guide summary or some such blurb.
-
It's after Labor Day - I'm wearing whales
-
Family reunion on Fox last night Tippi Hedren & Melanie Griffith guest starring on "Raising Hope", then Dakota Johnson on "Ben & Kate". Maybe "Raising Hope" followed by "Ben & Kate", followed by "New Girl" had me in such a good humour that I would have like anything that followed. Or maybe "The Mindy Project" really did improve greatly over the pilot episode. Felt like they'd toned it down a bit, made it less manic. Either way, much more enjoyable this week. pooky- u continue to show ur utter ignorance. its baffling that someone so wanna be *smart* is so actuality stupid. case in point...
by jay2517
....*Oh, so U don't care about the #'s, U feel it's UR duty to point them out to highlight hypocrisy*--- nope. no duty. just pointing it out. much like me pointing out ur stupidity. *well, I hope that U have a sense of accomplishment after pointing out a hypocrisy no one gives a shit about regarding a topic no one gives a shit about.*--- unlike you, i dont cower to others supposed expectations. do u really think i give a shit that u say no one gives a shit about a topic that u say no one gives a shit about? and for the ironic twist... YOU keep responding. whats that say about u, dipshit?

pooky- BTW...thanks for admitting Herc the fucking Hack is a hypocrite. honesty feels good, doesnt it?

As others have commented, a bit of a breather episode but necessary after last week. Opie's funeral was rough. Especially when Jax said, "See you later, bro." I'd be willing to bet some manly tears were shed over that. This event really feels like Sutter has now moved us into the 3rd and final act of his 7 season plan for SOA. I can't wait to see how the rest of the season (and series, obviously) plays out. I'm especially happy SOA is now back on, since Breaking Bad has been done for a little while now. Also Dexter, which had a kick-ass season premiere is back. Homeland's premiere was good, not great but I'm still excited for this season. Fringe is also off to a great start for it's last season.

i'm willing to bet you're not the barometer of honesty, jay
by Uncle Pooky
*its baffling that someone so wanna be *smart* is so actuality stupid.* Boy, if that's not the funniest thing I've read all day, I don't know what is. Nice try though!
-
BTW- if u thinking my calling ur stupidity out is funny, then.......never mind.

I said I was *willing to bet* you're not the barometer of honesty...
by Uncle Pooky
Meaning, based on what I know about you - you're a hate-filled and ignorant scumbag - the chances are pretty good that honesty is not a quality you possess. Therefore, I'm *willing to bet* on that.
