Herc’s Thursday TV Talkback!! An Hour-Long LOUIE Finale!! New SNL PRIMETIME, OFFICE, PARKS, X FACTOR & GLEE!! Vince Gilligan On COLBERT!! Neil Young On LETTERMAN!! The Returns Of 2 1/2 MEN, BIG BANG, PERSON OF INTEREST, GREY'S & More!!

Published at: Sept. 27, 2012, 11:31 a.m. CST

FX says “New Year’s Eve,” the hour-long season finale of “Louie,” featuring Amy Poehler:

Louie struggles through the holidays.

I'm impressed with “The Office’s” reclamation of the Jim and Andy characters last week, and the sense that the series is again headed somewhere interesting and significant.

NBC says of “Roy’s Wedding”:

Pam and Jim go to Roy’s wedding — David Denman guest stars. The wedding toast of Pam’s ex-fiance Roy causes Pam and Jim to examine their relationship for buried secrets. Dwight stubbornly protests Nellie’s mandatory charity initiative by supporting the Taliban and agreeing to live by their severe laws. Clark hits on Erin by dangling a fake newscaster job; Andy also takes the bait.

Scenes deleted from “Ms. Knope Goes To Washington”:

Tonight’s premieres:

Elementary (10pm CBS)

Grey’s Anatomy (9pm ABC)

Last Resort (8pm ABC)

Person of Interest (9pm CBS)

Scandal (10pm ABC)

Two and a Half Men (8:30pm CBS)

add the new kids last season instead of mostly wasting Robert California? Spader was great, but too Alan Shore-like...meaner than funny... Glad to see Andy is back; makes for a terrible boss. And Jim and Pam are no longer cringe-worthy douchers. Not yet anyway.

There is NO SUCH THING AS TOO MUCH GOOD SHERLOCK HOLMES. Should we not have had bbc 'Sherlock' because we had 'House'? Should we not have had RDJ movies because we had bb 'Sherlock'? Hey, wait a minute, maybe I'm onto something here...

    POI

    by jameskpolk

I'm the most interested in Person of Interest. The season finale cliffhanger episode was one of the best episodes of any show I've ever seen. We had our good guy trapped in a high rise with both the CIA men in black and the dirty cops squad stalking him. Meanwhile two different people are working to get him out each with no knowledge of the other. And Amy Acker.

  • Sept. 27, 2012, 5:49 p.m. CST

    Louie's an hour long tonight!?

    by Shermdawg

I thought they were just re-airing the finale at 10:30. It was just listed as two episodes without any info other than "Season Finale" when I set it to record. Thanks for the heads up, Herc.....gotta go set the DVR.

Creed killed, as per usual. Also, Erin was ridiculously hot in that low-cut red dress. The most adorable woman on television.

I came here to ask the same thing

    by Chase Mitchell

All the sites said "hour long" and touted the Poehler appearance, so now I don't know what to think. Were both episodes the same? I could see Louie pulling some thing where, in the second version, he doesn't see Liz and goes to Mexico.

  • Sept. 28, 2012, 12:50 a.m. CST

Man Person of Interest was great tonight

    by Paul

Looks like theres a new big bad, should be kind of cool seeing the hunt for Finch, wonder if its going to end after a few episodes of last for the season. It was great seeing Ken Lueng again since Lost. Love the addition of Bear the dog also.

    And about Samuel L Jackson

I'v often heard that people resort to swear words ether because of a lack of intellegence or they are having a hard time coming up with something worthwhile to say. Sounds like a great chioce of endorcement.

Amy Acker doesnt seemed to have aged a bit. ialso lol'd when that guy flew out the wind and the guys walked out with the dog behind. Poor Louie. the kids toys had me in stiches. pity parker posey had to kick it as well. rough stuff :( all this and new girl as well!

Great episode of Person of Interest

    by jim

Loved the quick recap at the beginning that tied into Finch's flashbacks. I think I'm done with Up All Night. Not nearly as enjoyable as it was last year.

  • Sept. 28, 2012, 12:50 p.m. CST

Yeah, what's with FX shows (SPOILERS)...

    by Shermdawg

...killing off great characters this week? Opie was the only Son I honestly liked, and I wanted more Parker Posey on Louie next season. Kinda bummed.

  • Sept. 28, 2012, 1:16 p.m. CST

    Louie (SPOILERS)

    by Loosejerk

I just don't get it. I kinda get it. Just not ALL of it. I saved the episodes with Posey because they were fantstic. Even his search with Sevigny was good. I wasn't expecting her to appear in the finale, so that was quite exciting....only to have her disappear almost as quickly....for good. Hopefully Louie will answer "why" in interview. I could see him killing her off to bring the viewer down to the level of sadness/hopelessness that Louie was experiencing, yet he really didn't have the reaction I expected. Sleep it off....fly to China. Maybe he rationalized her unexpected death due to her pre-existing medical issues. I don't know. Just didn't hit me as....right.

  • Sept. 28, 2012, 1:18 p.m. CST

POI is riding high. That was goooooooooooooood!

    by kabong

Even putting a dog in it was good.
The fight scenes are crisply implemented.
Lionel Fusco is a delightful unwilling good guy.

that louie was so fucking funny

    by jsfithaca

that scene with his daughters in their 20s talking about how lonely louie was had me laughing for so long. definetely one of the best of the season. also great POI, parks and pretty solid office. those town hall meetings are always so funny

Big Bang Theory: now the comic book story guy is gay??

    by MGTHEDJ

BBT season 1-3: a show written by a 45 year old nerd who worked for Jim Henson while in his 20's. The girl across the hall is the outsider. Central premise: Nerds are weird, but smart, and yeah, horney. Surprise for the audience: when nerds do have sex with a woman they are really good at it. BBT season 4 to now: a show written by former douchbag fratboys and mean girls in their late 20's and early 30's. The nerds are now the outsiders. Central premise: nerds are creepy and annoying, especially the Jewish one who has a nagging mother straight out of central casting in Brooklyn. Surprise for the audience: Nerds are really homosexuals. When does Community return?-----later-----m

  • Sept. 28, 2012, 2:50 p.m. CST

  • Sept. 28, 2012, 2:55 p.m. CST

    POI: DARN GOOD

    by MGTHEDJ

And Amy Acker has never looked more beautiful. When the Aryan thung asked Reese "Who do you think you are" I expected him to say "I'm Batman." The warehouse window gag was brilliant in it's choreography. Now I just wish there was something good on Tuesdays besides Sons of Anarchy.-----later----m

  • Sept. 28, 2012, 2:57 p.m. CST

    Er, mgthedj

    by Loosejerk

"Season 4 to now:...Central premise: nerds are creepy and annoying, especially the Jewish one who has a nagging mother straight out of central casting in Brooklyn." So, Howard and his mother weren't introduced until Season 4? You pretty much have his M.O. since the beginning and now he isn't as creepy and annoying since bagging Bernie.

  • Sept. 28, 2012, 3:44 p.m. CST

    mgthedj - NAILS IT!

    by Dan

GOD I hate this show! It's like Nerd blackface... insulting and severly unfunny... Its writen by people who might know a nerd/geek, but have no clue what it means to really be one...play up the stereotypes...use cliches... A nagging Jewish mother? Really?

  • Now she's on at least 13 eps a year, if not more.

  • Sept. 28, 2012, 4:01 p.m. CST

Leonard told Sheldon he was annoying last night

    by MGTHEDJ

Leonard never did anything that mean, direct, and "on the nose" in the first 3 years. Co-creator and head nerd Bill Prady would come up with a more clever way, sometimes using a character in geek-loved fiction. What really got my goat was the game of h-o-r-s-e from last season. They were showing them completely exhausted and not having made a basket? The better joke would have been they were tied after 2 hours because they had NOT missed a shot. The guys were using trigonometry and physics calculations to make insanely difficult shots.----later-----m

  • Sept. 28, 2012, 7:59 p.m. CST

Thanks for explaining "Big Bang Theory" to me

    by professorjack

I never thought it was a great show, but when it first started I enjoyed it as decent laugh track sitcom. The last two years, however, I found the show just awful. Getting worse and worse with every episode. With all of them getting girlfriends? I was worried that I was just being a "too-cool-for-the-room" asshole because the show has gotten so popular. Glad to see that there is an actual reason and its just not me.

  • Sept. 28, 2012, 9:32 p.m. CST

    The show to me says...

    by Dan

because you are good at math and science you are a self-centered geeky, weakly ass. Sitcoms live and breathe on Stereotypes; have no qualms with that, but why not use the funny ones instead of the obvious...? In old days skirt-chasing alcoholic would be made to be likable (Sam Malone, anyone?) Or an ignorant old bigot you actually felt sorry for and rooted for him? Archie Bunker... Could you imagine if Archie was done today, the show would have to be on HBO... all effort would be made to make him edgy and hip... forgetting to be funny. Why is Charlie Sheen funny for disrespecting, cheating on and basically degrading women? That's all he seemed to do on that terrible show while an impressionable kid lived in the house... and then his brother is made to look like a skeezy stooge because he's none of that... Why is that funny?

  • Sept. 28, 2012, 11:27 p.m. CST

    Person of Interest

    by severianx1

Is actually interesting again. I had all but given up on it, but this new wrinkle has caught my interest again. I didn't even see last season's finale, but now I want to watch it. So either Amy Acker's character is just batshit crazy, or the machine is some sort of self aware AI, or maybe both. Either way it's going to make for some interesting viewing. Come to think of it, both Reese and Finch are a little bit nuts themselves, which is all part of the charm of the show.
