You Shouldn't Take Things From Demon Katie In New PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4 Trailer!!

The Kidd here...

It looks like Katie and Hunter are set to resurface for PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 4, and, as you can tell from the new trailer, Katie doesn't like when you take things from her, namely her nephew.

Being a good Samaritan doesn't pay off here in watching a kid who has nowhere else to go, because that kid may just have a deep connection to a demon, and, if that's the case, you're seriously screwed just for trying to be a good person. No good deed really does go unpunished in the PA world.

There's plenty of dragging going on here, which means a lot of what you see now will most likely not make the final cut, and that's partially a damn shame. I really would like to see the movie that's being formulated in this trailer. Granted, there's some major scares that I wish weren't ruined, which means directors Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman still have quite a few tricks up their sleeves left in what will make the final cut. I have my fingers crossed that it'll match what they're putting out there in advance.

    The problem with these films...IMO : )

    by vettebro

The tension build up and character deposition is waaaaaaaaay to long. The audience has to sit through 20 minutes of boring shit to get to a "supernatural" scene that last 5 seconds or less, then it's another 20 minutes of boring bullshit before another event. What's even worse are the events. One waits all that time then, the fucking door moves on it's own. Then you wait another 15 minutes and there is a bang with the chandelier moving. Did everyone forget about that? I suspect we just saw the best this moving has to offer in the trailer...

Now, if someone would make a movie about cryptids, that I'd see

    by wcolbert

Ghosts....boring. Creatures that could concievably exist and simply haven't been discovered yet, and which do not violate the known laws of interesting. I'm not saying I think bigfoot is walking around out there. Just that it's more bloody likely than some spirits. We have quite a lot of thick forest in some parts of the world which humans rarely if ever pass through. Undiscoveed species could certainly exist. it's not a cryptid so much as a questionable extinction, but I really liked THYLACINE - Willem Dafoe carried that film (and the end scene will give you the goosebumps). The fact that even a guy like Steve Irwin stated that he'd seen a living one (coupled with the fact that they were quite alive up until at least 1936 - not long ago at all - and the remote, untouched ancient forests that Tasmania sports)....actually makes that quite a compelling case. The world needs another sasquatch movie. Harry and the Hendersons was the fun, cutesy I'd like to see a realist's take on what such an animal (say, a gigantopithecus that escaped extinction) would be like in reality to come across in the woods. But yeah. Enough with the found footage.

  • My god. I want to smack each one of them with a cricket bat for being the most idiotic, unscientific morons ever allowed to conduct "research" on television. *fart* Bob: O.O "Must've been a 'squatch!" ...seriously. That's about it.

    Part 1 wasn't scary... But-

    by Bruno

It made me laugh because I could relate to being home alone and hearing weird ass noises that couldn't be explained. I don't hate the movie, and I understand what scares people is all subjective, but I wasn't scared at all. I liked part 2 better because the sister being the first one haunted by the ghost and then sending it to Katie was just foul. And the elderly Latina woman trying to cleanse the house was hilariously realistic. It was the best one IMO. Part 3 was a waste of time. I don't get how people love it. It's boring. Not scary. Not interesting. And Paramount should be fucking sued for marketing a movie to the public in which the trailers had so much footage that wasn't even in the movie. I'm sitting this one out.

And this looks even worse. That lead girl looks like the most annoying "actress" in the series yet. And what is with that blatant product placement. "WANNA SEE WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH THE XBOX KINECT??" I enjoyed part 1, but didn't find it that scary until the very end. Part 2 surprised me, as it did a good job "world building" and had quite a few freaky scenes. I liked the premise of part 3, but thought the film itself was incredibly weak and rushed, and almost pointless. This looks to be the worst one yet. And that girl is already annoying as hell. "MOM, I DON'T THINK IT WAS AN ACCIDENT." Shut up.

As a fan of these films, I've gotta say.....

    by castaway

This one looks like kind of a letdown. I will still go see it at the midnight screening if I can but it does not look like they did anything as interesting as in the other movies (the twist to the second movie and how kinda shocking the end was to the third movie). Also I would like to say that I will also be seeing Sinister as well but it warrants mentioning that someone involved with the making of Sinister freely admitted that they were trying to ape the success and formula (to a certain extent) of the movie Insidious, so Sinister is not that original (I would also note that the entity in Sinister being in an alternate picture realm/reality is not that far removed from Samara Morgan/Sadaako in The Ring film series). I would happily see these 2 movies over the Silent Hill sequel. As far as strongly judging these 3 movies, Silent Hill: Revelations looks more and more like it is the far bigger shitpile than Sinister or PA 4.

  • Man, I wanna see those things unleashed. (insert annoying wolf howl)

  • I mean I saw the 2nd forced by my girl. But for about an hour and twenty minutes nothing happens. A dish moved lights on dog barks. Cabinets opened, than the last 10 minutes you get action and the last shot that's supposed to scare. It's boring as hell and equally stupid, yet people line up in droves WHY?

    didn't realize Lom had died...

    by Terry Powell

...actually, it's been so long since I've seen him in anything, I assumed he'd been dead long ago. Too, bad cuz he was always great, would've loved seeing him in more. My favorites of his are(of course) Inspector Dreyfus in the Pink Panther movies, especially >>>Strikes Back, god that movie is hilarious(though my favorite bit is the non-Lom, "Does your dog bite" scene). I also loved him in The Dead Zone, especially the scene about killing Hitler. But his Dreyfus was comedy gold, one reason why any Pink Panther remakes now or in the future are pointless.

  • a chair moved. I don't know if its was the brilliance of the filmmakers to come across a concept that makes the audience an active viewer. Or are people just stoopid. To stretch this concept over four films?.....I opt for stoopid.

    by Andrew Coleman

I mean why do any of you care about PA series that much? The level of hate has become very pathetic on this TB... "My girl took me to the second one"... Bull shit. How I know this is bullshit is no one just goes to the sequel of a movie without seeing the first. And you obviously don't have a "girl" to go to movies with. Most of the haters describe the movie as "You wait 20 minutes for a dish to move"... Right even though you don't. You obviously didn't see the movie and are just making shit up. Also if you did just see the second one... You obviously would be annoyed because it's connected directly to the first. You wouldn't know what was going on. Idiot. Look I get the it makes money so I must hate it thing that happens on AICN all the time... But you're really just pointlessly rambling. No one really cares about these movies. They are cheap scares. Fuck it I'll see the 4th one just to piss some of you off. The first one is solid... Those who go out of their way to say it's not scary obvious pissed their pants watching it and are back tracking. The second one isn't scary but I actually liked how they expanded the story. The third one is a whatever type movie. Probably better "scares" than the previous two but the plot went no where. Interested in the 4th one mainly so they can explain how they got Hunter. Did Katie get killed by the cops? I'll see it.

I saw Sinister two nights ago at an advanced screening in Philadelphia. It was great. Scary and well made. The audience totally lost their shit at least a dozen times during the really frightening stuff, and at one particularly scary scene the grown man sitting directly behind me who had been acting too "tough" to be afraid of a horror movie literally screamed "OH MY GOD!!!" at the top of his lungs. Great stuff.

    romney scares me...

    by Terry Powell

...and I'm an Army veteran. Married to his wife for 42 years and 10 grandchildren, ok. How do we know he's decent? Didn't sound like a decent guy in his 47 percent speech. Missionary for 2 France? And that was to use his religious status to get out of the Vietnam war, which he supported(but not to fight in, soldiers are poor kids). Don't know about creating 100,000 jobs, but know that he has cost many many people their jobs after sucking the lifeblood(well, money) out of several companies so they'd have to go bankrupt and layoff(fire) their workers. All in the pursuit of the mighty dollar which seems to fly against his religious beliefs that he wears on his sleeve. Not to mention, the guy wants to be President of the US but hides his money in offshore banks to avoid taxes. I agree with the Massachusetts governor who said that Mitt wanted to be governor but didn't want to work at it. Semms to be the same thing with the presidency. And by the way, I've done just fine the last four years.

    by Jeremy

All in the pursuit of the mighty dollar which seems to fly against his religious beliefs that he wears on his sleeve-- I would say that you rarely, if ever her Gov. Romney mention his religion. Others try to make it an issue. he has cost many many people their jobs after sucking the lifeblood(well, money) out of several companies so they'd have to go bankrupt and layoff(fire) their workers-- There are winners and losers. Venture Capitalists try to help struggling doesn't always work, but not because the VC's are evil and try to throw people out of their jobs. The company, likely, was already in trouble. the guy wants to be President of the US but hides his money in offshore banks to avoid taxes-- I don't have all of the facts, but in my understanding, its legal. I, personally, do not care what anyone's income is, or where they choose to place their money. It's not my business. And by the way, I've done just fine the last four years-- So have I, but many haven't and we can't keep saying it's because of Bush. Policies matter, and anti-small business polices (You didn't build that- the government made the roads...) do not give business owners the confidence to hire any of the 23 million unemployed. This is a TV/Movie site- I just responded to someone else's comment. I was not picking a really is just interesting to me that as bad as the economy, gas prices and housing have been, that a successful business man running for president is a scarier alternative to what we currently have. Take care!

Katie's got some big ass titays!

    by one9deuce

I thought the first PARANORMAL ACTIVITY worked pretty well. That's the kind of shit that scares me anyway, the shit that can't be explained. Where the protagonists have no chance like in THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT. That just bothers me. At least if you don't smoke weed or fuck anyone you will survive Michael Myers or Jason Vorhees. But again the best two parts of the first PARANORMAL ACTIVITY? Katie Featherston's perfect, all natural, and huge rack.

  • Also, where is child protective services? Could you imagine this happening in a government orphanage? And to touch on the burgeoning political flame war that is starting to brew up, all I have to say is: you liberals crack me up. Romney is kind of liberal himself. Everything you say you hate about him can be said about Obama and then some (you know why the Keystone pipeline was shitcanned by the O? It was because multi-billionaire William Buffet owns a raidroad company which has been transporting oil from Canada. The pipeline would have tanked his company for the obvious reason. After O cancelled the pipeline, Buffet's railroad company stock close to doubled in price. Let's not even bring up Solyndra or the multitude of other green companies/money laundering scams to the tunes of billions of tax dollars, or how he bribed Mary Landreiu with $300 million in tax dollars to change her "no" vote on Ocare). On the flip side, Romney has done a lot of liberal things. So in what way do you guys lose if you have a choice between a hard left guy and a soft left guy? Is it just that you are conditioned to hate anyone who opposes you, or has the scarlet R after their name? And didn't you jokers vote for John Kerry, who is Romney times 10? It's like that woman on youtube saying she's going to vote for Obama because he's getting her a free phone. This country is so done.

  • I have loved all three films and found all of them scary. I thought the last two were scarier than the first, and quite enjoyable. It amazes me how they can make them so cheap and have believeable effects that are better than many of those shitty blockbusters. I look forward to this new one. They never had films like this before, such as the 1970s, so I think it is great that they're making them now. You fuckers complain about everything, and I know that plenty of you would watch this, then some old rerun of Friday the 13th or Smoking and the Bandit 3.

I can understand stating your displeasure after you seen a movie and it ended up being a huge letdown (insert Phantom Menace) but to go on and on for years and years with protracted diatribes about how intellectually inferior someone is for liking something that you don't is beyond idiotic. AICN is 90% negative and 10% positive. The only movie we collectively enjoyed was the Avengers, and believe it or not Transformers 1 (for about a week) then everyone felt they needed to be cool again and bashed it to oblivion. The hypocrisy on this board is boundless.

  • We're complaining of the milking of a concept till it's dry, and the studio continuing to milk it because it makes a ton of money. Because average Joe Moviegoer forks their money over, because there's nothing else out there. Why? Studios will crank out copies of whats successful, because they have no original ideas of their own. So why do we bitch about PA4? For fear of PA5, 6, 7, ... which perpetuates copycats, which keeps other films from developing, and so on.

Unless you are a millionaire you should be scared of Romney

    by SergeantStedenko

And even if you are a millionaire you should still be scared. It really boggles the mind that the wealthy and powerful men who run this republic do not understand the concept of 'Bread and Circuses.' Oh, sure they make sure we have our circuses, putting billions into building state of the art pro sports arenas while letting public education rot on the vine. But, what do they think will happen if they take our bread away? I hope their gated communities are built like Umbrella Corporation fortresses. Just pay your damn taxes and enjoy your millions and throw us a enough crumbs to keep us happy.

  • The total production cost for the first three was 8 million dollars (yes, for all THREE) with a return approaching 600 million worldwide. A) People want to see these movies. B) The producers don't care what the people who don't want to see them think so long as they keep making piles of cash. <p> Personally, I'm in that crowd who has never seen one of them. Only saw a couple of the Saw films and decided torture porn wasn't really my thing (the first one was pretty solid as a movie, though). Strange thing I've noticed about both these series is that they don't ever seem to play on pay cable. I've got the package with all the channels and I don't EVER remember seeing them on the guide.

See, I don't believe it's "average Joe Moviegoer"

    by Jaka

Movies like this have a very specific, TARGETED audience and they always have. When I was growing up it was Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th, and NONE of the teenagers and young adults I knew who were going to those movies was complaining about "milking a concept". They just wanted to go to the theater and see something they were familiar with that might scare them, or supply a little gore. Phantasm. Errr... what else. I know I'm forgetting a lot of them. Whatever, this is what they do with horror movies. To complain about it like they're somehow bereft of ideas, or have reached the bottom of the well because they keep making Saw sequels is coming at it from a totally wrong place. Basically, cheap horror movies with large profits are SUPPOSED to have sequels. That's how it's done.

  • had a great time. It's become the giant communal haunted house and roller coaster rolled into one. And again, the concept of involving the audience in the viewing experience, watching, waiting, studying the details of the frame, until something brilliant.

  • That's all well and good, but they are not good films. They have absolutely zero re-watchability. They will not stand the test of time as great cinema or even cult classics, unlike many of the films Jaka mentioned. It's debatable if they can even be classified as films and not something altogether else as podbaydoor suggests. It's all good. they don't bother me. They aren't the death of cinema. They just don't add anything relevant to its history.

  • You can't win on AICN with some of it's posters no matter what. My approach to cinema is to enjoy what I can, there's never going to be a perfect movie.

lambcamera don't confuse "we" with "you"

    by ganymede3010

This franchise has made over 500 million dollars world wide with less than 10 million invested in production (not including marketing). So what studio executive in their right fucking mind would stop making this movies? Ever heard of supply and demand?

AmI the only one who remembers....

    by RockLobster800

that most of the footage in the trailer for the third film WASN'T IN THE FILM. They had loads of exciting looking stuff going on in it, like some psychic trying to cleanse the house and getting attacked by the demon. That character isn't even in the film! And within the film's continuity, there's nowhere that scene could have been, so I don't even think it was was just made for the trailer. So this trailer doesn't do much for me at all because A) It's just not that exciting looking (don't get me wrong I'll still watch it cos I enjoyed the first three), and B) None of this probably happens in the film itself.

    sergeantstedenko are you retarded?

    by Xiphos_2

Or a paid poster for the Demicans which amounts to the same thing? Don't get all uppity chief the Republicrats do the same thing. You do realize AICN is a dying movie message board right and not political forum? Spewing out talking points on a message board for PA 4 is so fucking dumb your parents, grandparents and great grandparents have to be brother and sister.

Identify *root* cause. At least sergeantstedenko contributed to the discussion long before he pitched a political comment. wcolbert, 'Take away my college grants and I'll make you eat your own balls you fuck.' Trying real hard to disprove Romney's comment about the 47%, aren't ya, chum?

  • You think either of those two puppet presidential candidates are looking out for you? China and Russia just dropped the petrodollar! This is why your next course is sparking off WWIII with Iran. Your country's fucked! The rest of us are just hoping we survive your meltdown!

I thought my post was sufficiently satirical to trascend the typical political rhetoric around here. But, you are obviously incapable of understanding satire, so carry on.

    Wcolbert is a tool...

    by Mark Rabe

Aww...poor baby couldn't go to college without grants... News flash...going to college is not an entitlement. Taxpayers are not responsible for sending you to school. Here is a novel hard and pay your own freaking way! And...why the fuck are you pissing and moaning about your problems on a board dedicated to PA4 trailer? Incidentally...these movies do nothing for me. Not scary in my opinion. Part 3 was ok...prolly the best of the 3...kinda ripped off last exorcism though.

zod69 I call bullshit. Universities are overly expensive because

they take government subsidies. They have no incentive to be cost competitive, because they are on the tax payer teat.

B and b.... What exactly is BS?

by Mark Rabe not paying for your college is BS? Or schools being expensive? Here is another novel idea....if the school is out of your budget...go to a different school. If you are trying to argue to cut off all taxpayer funding to colleges...I am there with you. Your statement really is not clear though. Again, society is not responsible for sending you to college. Sorry to break the news but most people don't give 2 shits about whether you or wcolbert goes to college. I paid my own way and am doing just fine. In fact, to borrow from a brilliant graduation are not special...
