The New LIFE OF PI Trailer Shows Off A Life Of Adventure, Hope And Triumph!!
The Kidd here...
I haven't even attempted to pick up Yann Martel's novel Life of Pi, because, at this point, I'd like to go into Ang Lee's visual marvel as fresh as can be. Just taking a look at the new trailer for LIFE OF PI should have you ready to plunk down your cash to see how amazing this is going to look on the big screen, but seeing how this story of a boy trapped out in the middle of the ocean with a tiger can possibly come together for a feature-length film has my undivided attention as well.
See for yourself (via Yahoo!)...

And 'The Hulk' was one of the stupidest, most incoherent movies I have ever seen.

I hated 'Everything raptor_jesus ever wrote' whatever'.

The book is great. I wouldn't expect a turd like him to know how to read.

Oh I do hope it's just the advertising department making it look so damn saccharine . That trailer was horrible. The first one had me intrigued, that one was just... just horrible.

ang lee has made some pretty great films and I love the boldness this seems to have ......BUT damn.....all these cgi animals.....a real bummer
-
...and they still look like shit. CGI looks fucking fake as shit.
-
Taking a story that should look and feel more grounded and turning into a pure fantasy film.

this is gonna bomb bad, but not as bas as CLOUD ATLAS.
by Spandau Belly
And that's not me hoping for something to fail because I don't want to see it. I actually really want to see CLOUD ATLAS, but I know I'll probably be sitting in a cinema all by myself.

Like I said, a humpback whale wouldn't breach like that while feeding. Trying to lift the whole animal out of the water with its mouth open and full of water and jellyfish wouldn't be possible. Looks wicked cool though.<p> Also, holy CGI elephant.

Although the guy being told the story is white. He's probably the real main character.

Saw this trailer before Lost Ark the other day, and I was absolutely awestruck. I hope the movie stands up to the trailer.

... my crew has set me adrift in the middle of the ocean. They won't be back for seven days to pick me up. Luckily, I remembered to pack my Swiss Army Tiger.

I hope Ang's movie delivers.

Isn't the purpose of trailers to make people want to see the movie rather than turn them against it?

Coldplay? Ugh, I preferred the music from the previous trailer

The colors are amazing. Shame about the fake looking animals.

Crap song for trailer too. Doesn't fit.

It could be cool if the "lifeboat" scenes were animated more and more unrealistically, to show that he's going a little bit crazy being dehydrated, terrified, starving, and probably exhausted from being on a lifeboat with a tiger.
-
Many of the same shots, edited together the same way, with a song that doesn't match the visuals at all. The first trailer was perfect. Why?

the fantasy look is fine and here's why...

he (Pi) is telling a fucking story.

They are the real film makers.

The first trailer was better. This one is too conventional with the Coldplay & Sigur Ros stuff

This is the old trailer. I hear no Coldplay. What the fuck?
-
This is the new trailer: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/24/life-of-pi-international-trailer_n_1908968.html The embed up there is old, and the link takes you to the old trailer as well. What gives?
-
Just curious. If you read the book you would know what I mean.

If you read the book, you'll know this would be impossible to do without cgi...
by Doctor Bumhole
The use of cgi is actually keeping in line with the tone, and shouldn't hurt the story's message at all. If you haven't read it, you should. Easily one of the best novels i've read in the last ten years.

by Balkin Flabgurter
anybody know Les Stroud is huge in the handcrafted Axe business? Whats that saying..? Gotta eat?? he would be all in,a do or die adventure riding a shark with a saddle made from ripped plane seat leather and rare iguana hides.

And Les Stroud would be able to tell me what type of sea urchin are not edible, unlike PI.
