I've been rewatching Voyager in Netflix, not bad...not bad at all. More STAR TREK sameness to be sure, but if you love that shit - more is always better.

....the way Ben Sisko went out was the straw that broke the camels back for me. just hated the idea that Ben left Jake behind to be with the aliens in the wormhole. basically it ends with Ben Sisko turing his back on his friends and family because the wormhole aliens ask him to? fuck that. Ben Sisko was a bad ass who should have told the aliens to suck it. <p> but i did watch the odd episode of Voyager just to see Jeri Ryan fill out that silver body suit. now thats good costume design. <p> like the re-booted NuTrek movie well enough. just wonder how anyone could get excited for the next one since they took sooooo long in between films.

He was actually the best-man at my theater Prof's wedding, 22 years later Brooks was doing a show at the Pittsbugh Public and came up to my school for an afternoon. Flash forward another fifteen years, I saw him again at Wizard World and he remembered me as the dude that smelled like a Grateful Dead concert at the picnic. Ahhhh, memories....

...always liked Sisko. he seemed to fall into a nice sweet spot between Picard and Kirk. he was a reasonable thinking man like Picard but if he had to he would beat you down just like Kirk. <p> of course, i will always remember Avery Brooks as Hawk on Spenser For Hire. talk about a bad ass. <p> anyway, it's cool that he remembered you. and it's nice to know you smelled like a Greateful Dead concert instead of smelling like a Phish concert. <p> fuck, remember Phish? jesus i hated that crap, that had to be the worst part of smoking grass in the late 80's and early 1990's. some asshole always wanted to burn one down and listen to fucking Phish. <p> don't get me wrong amazing musicians, but holy crap some of their stuff was just too much to take.

For the first fifteen minutes of each song and then they lost me in the second half. During my major toking days it was with other theater majors, so being the quirky lot we were, there was no standard for the radio. Don't ever get baked to Les Mis, makes you feel really bad about the world.

...i'd be listening to a Phish song and think it was catchy and cool and then....the song would never end, or worse..... just veer off into some other wacky direction. <p> i gotta tell you one time we were pulling tubes at this guys house who had a 10 foot bong. after we got good and toasty the dude puts on the soundtrack to Koyaanisqatisi..... sweet jesus i felt like i could feel the rotation of the earth. we had to talk this one guy out of climbing a tree because he wanted to build a nest.

...is he just an INCREDIBLY GREAT actor, or did dude really change that much as a person in the years since DS9 ended? Because there is NOTHING in his performance over the seven seasons of that show that would lead you to believe he was the man we now see in interviews. And I don't believe The Captains was edited for crazy in the slightest. It's actually a pretty solid watch, other than the squirmingly uncomfortable Brooks scenes.
