A KNIGHT’S TALE: THE SERIES!! BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Mastermind Ronald D. Moore Penning The Pilot For ABC!!
Having scored a major hit with costume drama “Once Upon A Time,” ABC has just hired “Battlestar Galactica” mastermind Ronald D. Moore to write a pilot for a series version of the 2001 feature “A Knight’s Tale.”
The movie, which made a star of Heath Ledger, followed a peasant who found himself impersonating a knight.
The plan, apparently, is to utilize a soundtrack full of rock & roll hits, just as the movie did.
Moore’s pre-Galactica credits include “Star Trek: The Next Generation,” “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,” “Roswell” and “Carnivale.”

Game of Thrones meets Glee; fuck, that is lame.

TV show will be worse. Shrek was playing at the theatre beside us and I remember asking outloud 15 minutes into the movie if there was still time to go see Shrek. That comment got more response from the audience than anything else in that movie.

The movie was a pleasant, dumb, fun but this is a TV adaptation Nobody asked for

Moore's talent is wasted on this

Good cast too. Heath Ledger, Mark Addy, and the awesomeness that is Alan Tudyk. They'd better cast it right, or it will be Twilight, the Camalot years.
-
Ledger, Tudyk and Bettany are big reasons why. I could see how this woyld work, as a week-to-week "will they get caught?" type of vibe. How the hell do you live up to that cast though? Could be interesting.

I love love love this movie. And I love Heath, of course. I want the series to do well so Brian Helgeland can get more appreciation, but I imagine it would be really different than the movie and have really awful "drama" that attempts to create unnecessary tone and arcs like in Eddie Izzard's "The Riches." The emphasis should be on fun, frolic and episodic interaction, not on arcs beyond maybe earning a real knighthood or something obvious like that. (I'm not against drama, but unnecessary heaviness, awful one note bad guy-ness from the Wicked Queen in "Once Upon A Time," and similar fillers are awful and should be totally avoided.)
-
1st. Paul Bettany was break out star of this movie 2nd Paul Bettany's ass was the second break out star of this movie 3rd. Shannon Sossamon was almost as hot as Bettany's ass. 4. ARE YOU SHITTING ME TV!

That said: I would kill for a medieval version of the 'Dear Sister' scene from 'One Tree Hill.' And I think Ron's just fucked up enough to do it.

Worst ending in the history of onscreen science fiction

The pilot will introduce the main driving influence for the characters and the main thrust of the series. They will hint at it for 2 1/2 seasons and then completely abandon it after a 13 month hiatus and completely change course, beginning with the "death" of the Chaucer character. The story will then senselessly meander for another 1 1/2 seasons, with Jane Espenson taking over as show runner to completely destroy any possible sense of momentum. Series ends and retarded fanboys blather on about it being the best thing they've ever seen on television.
-
Or possibly even the Australian film "Two Hands". I though “A Knight’s Tale” was the first disappointing film he made after making two cool films.
-
Nah, I'm just kidding. I don't care.
-
is not a terrible movie. It should have been by all rights, the concept was terrible and execution wasn't very good either. Though my some miracle they managed to get an amazing cast that held it all together and in the end made it a likable film. That being said, there is no reason to try and make a TV series out of that nonsense. It barely made a good 2 hour movie with an amazing cast.

The modern music kills the movie, as it also kills Ladyhawke
by Ash Talon
Modern music and medieval settings just don't work. It didn't work in Ladyhawke, and it didn't work in A Knight's Tale. It's an obvious and pandering attempt to appeal to a modern audience instead of just concentrating on making the story and characters interesting.

Love Heath Ledger and everyone who worked on "A Knight's Tale," but hate (HATE!!!) the movie. Stupid, mushy-brained, teenage melodrama with swords and horsies. And cheesy rock songs? I mean, this decision alone made the movie un-fucking-watchable for me. One of my top-ten worst films of all time. I love Ron Moore and his work on "Battlestar Galactica," but as a poster above aptly put it, this will be "Game of Thrones meets Glee." They'll cast a bunch of young hotties, have them pretend to be knights and princesses, have them glower stupidly quite often at each other, then highlight each show by playing or singing the latest Carly Rae Jepsen song to appear on the season soundtrack. Yay... What a wonderful suit-driven idea! What a lovely cross-marketing, multi-demographic opportunity! Sorry for my facetiousness, but I'm trying not to throw up right now.

A fun flick, but not worth a tv show.... I thought Moore was doing a pilot for Wild Wild West, now that I would pay to see!

Again, I want Wild Wild West....

GOD DID IT. Moore sucks, because he fucked up the end. GOD DID IT.
by Stereotypical Evil Archer
It was a weak cheap bad idea for an ending. How can Moore look back on Battlestar Galactica and be proud of that ending? It's like he didn't even know why people liked the series; not a good trait for a showrunner.
-
How about a show with knights based on an original premise that no one's ever seen before, with music that isn't era-inappropriate, with characters that are badass and fun to watch? Anyone? Nah, you're right. That would never work.

The plan, apparently, is to utilize a soundtrack full of rock & roll hits, just as the movie did.
by berserkrl
You know what that means. They'll fail to get the permissions to carry the music over to the dvd, which consequently will have to use inferior music to the film.
-
I love RDM, why does he pimp himself out to series that are doomed from the start? He needs to find another space opera and work it!

made me take her to see A Knight's Tale. It was only after I'd spent the entire showing gleefully tearing apart this travesty of a film (thinking we were in agreement on that opinion) that I found out it was her third viewing and she wanted me to see how great it is. Luckily, she was always too horny to hold a grudge.

I hated it initially for not being what I wanted it to be... Then ended up loving it for what it is: Goofy fun with jousting.

Wrong. It was the fanboys who where whining about the ending and still are, endlessly. And guess what? You're one of them.

then I'm onboard 100%.

No reason to watch now.

It will PRETEND to be something about knights but it will really be an over long epic about firstly hearing about a hole, secondly being imprisoned in a hole and thirdly climbing out of a hole This must include some long words in the exposition so that the 'educated crowd' laud at it's high brow narrative. I feel the whole thing should be based on Dante's Inferno. Lastly get atleast 1 fanboy to declare that this new work is greater than Citizen Kane and Taxi Driver. Many more will follow until they watch the production again in solitude finding it wasn't about knights at all and that is what made it shyte. Having woke up from this nightmare fanboy declares the need for a different type of knight show one with knight in it.................... THE END

Ron Moore next project should be....a re-imagining of Battlestar Galactica
by riskebiz
So we have the Lorne Greene BSG...we have the Olmos BSG...isn't there room for another parallel universe of BSG at this point? After all, didn't they say in this last series that this has all happened before and will all happen again? I like the idea of a new take on it. The differences between the original series and the Ron Moore version were intriguing and pleasing...now let's see another parallel universe with areas that the last series never got to...like the re-imagining of Count Ibli or Lucifer...or perhaps even the original Cylons with the multi-brain! Maybe this one can have Dirk Benedict as Chameleon, the possible father of Starbuck. Hey...why not? I think Ron could reboot BSG after a 5 year break between BSG's.

He gets it. Unlike a certain people i know of.
