MI2, Horse Whisperer and Dragnet II!!!!

Published at:  Jan 31, 1998 12:00:00 AM CST

Hey folks Harry here, I just landed and got to my hotel... which is unlike anything I have ever seen before. The House of Blues is rocking across the street and I can hear it in my room... Everything is white... creepy... but who the hell cares about that, I'll catch a movie with Hallenbeck, then I'll tell ya about the flick and the trip... there. Meanwhile, the ol system keeps on a cranking out the info... Frequent spy and all around glutton Norm (fellow fat man) Peterson dropped off some info about Mission Impossible II, The Horse Whisperer and a possible Dragnet II!!! Well here is goes, saddle up to the bar and listen to Norm, he's avoiding his wife and telling stories of films...

Norm Peterson here again--trying to pay off my tab with a little info.

First up Mission Impossible II news. The Born On the Fourth of July team of
Tom Cruise and Oliver Stone will not reunite after all. Cruise wanted Stone
to direct him in Mission Impossible II, which Cruise is also producing. The
two had agreed to team up again, but scheduling became an issue when
Cruise
and his wife Nicole Kidman have continued work on one of the longest
shoots in
Hoolywood history; Stanley Kubricks-Eyes Wide Shut. By the time Eyes
wraps it
will have been in prouction for 64 weeks.

Robert Redford's the Horse Whisperer is both a long film and long
delayed.
This does not mean that Disney execs are putting any pressure on him to
make
changes. The film which is based on the Nicholas Evans book about a horse
trainer who has a special way of talking to horses, the film was suppose to
be
released for Christmas. El Nino storms in the west delayed Redfords
shoots.
Then Redford's directors cut came in at a whopping four hours long--the
shortened version is still well over 3 hours. Redford will cut it furthur now
that Sundance is over. Disney execs have said that the film will be whatever
Redford wants it to be.

Possible Dragnet II -- Dan Aykroyd shose film BB2K comes out this
Friday
says that he has several feature projects lined up with director John Landis
and Universal Pictures. Dependent on the success of BB2K one of the future
projects could be revisiting Dragnet. Apparently Aykroyds idea for the new
Dragnet would be more suspenseful than the 1987 film that also starred
Tom
Hanks.
