The PAIN AND GAIN Teaser Poster Packs Plenty Of Protein!!
The Kidd here...
Pair Mark Wahlberg and The Rock up as a couple of idiot bodybuilders in Miami who get caught up in extortion and kidnapping that goes all bad, and what do you get? What is most likely Michael Bay's cheapest film to date.
PAIN AND GAIN is one that Bay has wanted to do for a couple of years now, based on the true stories of Daniel Lugo and Adrian Doorbal, but it was his commitment to the TRANSFORMERS franchise that pushed it to now. Word is that Paramount was willing to give him the $20 million needed to do P&G if he would sign up for yet another TRANSFORMERS, and the rest is history.
The film now has a release date of April 26, 2013, and to go along with the studio's announcement of that today, we've got a teaser one sheet for the occasion.

Has Bay embraced that he's a useful idiot of major studios, toy factories, military, Victoria's Secret, etc., selling product? Hat's off.

-
don't know why everyone loves him. he sucks as an actor and can only play one character - his douchebag self. plus he's a homophobe, so it makes sense he's in a movie about bodybuilders.

Not that I'm looking for a reason to defend Michael Bay...
by TheSeeker7
But seriously, he hadn't made ENOUGH friggin money for Paramount already to justify them giving him a measly $20M to make this, without also committing him to another Transformers??
-
Wahlberg "sucks as an actor" and is a "douchbag" but I'm sure you don't have a problem with the Rock, right? And Wahlberg is terrified of homosexuals? Quit throwing around the epithet "homophobe" at anyone you says the word fag, you fucking wimp.

With the exception of the rock...I don't like Bay movies...but dude deserves around 100 million, based on his financial performance of the TF movies...that's all I wanted to say about that.

he's not a homophobe - just a fucking faggot

You made me laugh hard! Wahlberg didn't want to be in Brokeback Mountain after consulting with his Irish Catholic priest. Thank goodness. He's a dumbass jock homophobe loser who acts way "cooler" than he actually is.

in a film by the director of THE ROCK!! i would've liked the poster better had they introduced a bit of interesting shit on the label that tells us about the film more....like (they're gonna sound really cheesy but I'm just trying to get my drift across): high concentration of blood and mayhem, 50g insanity per serving etc. and the protein powder spilling could be cocaine or something. the glass of shake could be a glass of blood. what i'd love for the next teaser poster is a human hand barbecuing on a grill! (anyone remember the leaked shot from the production with the rock grilling a human hand??) that'd be sooo fucking awesome!! i've read the article, the story is pretty intense and crazy and there really is a lot of room for some kickass posters

I tuned out instantly and skipped the article. The fact they're actually actively pursuing him to play Case in the Neuromancer film makes me want to do unspeakably violent things to myself and others. There is no possible way to justify that casting choice. They might as well just cast Jolie or Jovovich as Molly and get it the fuck over with.
-
I love Bay's movies. I know it's trendy to slam him but as far as I'm concerned, he's all about pure escapist entertainment. Bad Boys II is one of the most gloriously entertaining action movies ever made. Yes, his films have stupid humour and almost wall-to-wall explosions, but they're such a good time. Transformers 3 and The Rock are action heaven.
-
Sept. 20, 2012, 4:53 a.m. CST
cobalt2015, I DESPISE BAY BUT I ALSO DO BELIEVE THAT BAD BOYS 2 IS A MASTERPIECE!!!FACT!!! DO YOU KNOW WHY???.........
by CreepyThinMan
The reason Bad Boys 2 is one of the two best action/exploitation movies of the last ten years (The other is Crank 2)? It's because Michael Bay is a juvenile delinquent with a severe case of arrested development and when he wasn't nominated for Pear Harbor, he said "FINE, FUCK YOU, YOU FUCKING SUCK ANYWAY!" and proceeded to whip out his fuckstick and splooge his ID all over the screen with BB2 which is why I believe that the movie is a perfect distillation of the mans soul. After seeing BB2, I was actually very excited to see him doing Transformers and thought that if he could have brought that level of OTT insanity to that film then it could have been great. How wrong I was as all three Bayformer movies have been fucking terrible. He needs to embrace his inner retard because he's incapable of making anything else but mindless trash. But when he unleashes the worst aspects of his repellent personality he creates something beautiful.
-
All the rest of his movies are just $$$$$$$$$$ shiny piles of shit. The Transformers Franchise is total shit and a complete waste of what should've been a sci fi epic. It'll be interesting to see what he can actually do as a director on a small budget and making a true story into a very good movie. I can take or leave Marky Mark but Johnson will steal this movie easily. He's proper juiced up for it, bigger than I've ever seen him and he's simply got a presence on screen that demands attention. Not to mention he'll only get better and better as an actor. The poster itself looks class. This is the 1st Bay movie in 10 years I've actually looked forward too.
-
when he was alive? yes this site did.. tony scott died and nobody knows why he jumped off the bridge. tony scott and Micheal bay are two of the most reviled filmmakers according to this place. when scott died and I read on this place the love for scotts work. I thought where the hell where these people when this site routinely pounded scott type of filmmaking into the ground. no where to be found.
-
and yeah I've had more than a few drinks but.... Wahlberg is the kinda guy I wouldn't leave alone in a room with my teenage daughter (if I had one) I'd be afraid he'd grab my acoustic guitar and serenade her with some doe eyed hipster acoustic ear garbage until she unwisely gave in to his douchebag quote-unquote charm. CASE? Fucking REALLY?? It's feels like I'm living in a goddamn Twilight Zone episode. It's like casting Danny DeVito as Bruce fucking Wayne.

Doesn't Bay have 20 mill in his back pocket? He could've financed this himself
by Spandau Belly
And why was this a tough sell for Paramount. It's a heist comedy with The Rock and Walhberg. People love heist movies. People love comedies. People The Rock and Walhberg. It'll turn a profit no matter how bad it is.

Ahh protein powder... giving little fat-bellies to marketing victims and wanna-bes the world over
by Autodidact
Hey kids, unless you're actually The Rock or Arnold Schwarzenegger, you don't need protein shakes. They are just fattening unless you're working out hard with a primed metabolism. Just have adequate protein in your diet. Used to laugh my head off in my early 20s at all my friends who were more intense about their protein shakes than about their workouts. With their super-clean workout gear and their little bellies...
-
Protein Shakes are fattening only if they create an unnecessary level of caloric surplus. They are fattening in exactly the same way a particularly lean chicken breast is. The fact is, they can be an extremely cheap and convenient way for someone to hit their macros - but of course, only when someone knows what their "macros" are. Protein shakes aren't the problem/variable here in regards to being "fattening" or giving people "little fat-bellies", people having no idea how to eat is. Protein shakes are just as much of a sham as poultry in this case... Just stop eating full retard.
-
Sept. 20, 2012, 7:13 a.m. CST
Also the Rock and Arnie, or anyone really, doesn't "need" protein shakes
by Duckenheimer
I'd be hard pressed to name a single food you "need". That's where price, convenience, taste, digestion and nutrition - and context of the rest of the diet - come in.

They recently did a study to see if they could advertise to Chimpanzees...They found that chimps responded most to images of alpha males and genitalia...I think that is a pretty apt reduction of the content of Michael Bay's films.

After reading the Pete Collins articles on this, Bay doing it REALLY does not compute...but...
by Bill C.
http://www.miaminewtimes.com/1999-12-23/news/pain-gain/ Seriously--the entire story is a crime story/black comedy spread out over several years, with an absolutely staggering level of actual epic fail involved. And THIS is a project Michael "Everything Explodes II!" Bay has wanted to do for years now? The disconnect is so huge it has its own zip code... Which might actually work in its favor, in a twisted way. Consider: a Bay film with no explosions, no gunfights, and based on a true story. Would you want to see it or just laugh at the first-glance hilarity of the idea of Michael trying to do a serious, or at least markedly different, film than his usual type? That said, using 'Red Tails' as a precedent, I can actually see Paramount being--deliberately in this case--skittish about bankrolling the film, because it's so far off Bay's given reservation and they're worried about backing a loser. Never mind that they'd inevitably blow more than $20M on a remake or some other tax-writeoff movie--that's just how they work.
-

assumptions that he sucks because he cast shit beef at home. We're talking genre action here. Are his movies not like re-animator and evil dead? They are. They are fucking over the top awesome. I forgave him for pearl harbor after bad boys 2. It's time to- ohhhh- I remember now. There's some kind of story with these transformers toys that you guys haven't seen done justice to. That's right I forget there's all these comics and shit based on these toys that have you guys all acting like blasphemy has been committed. Well guess what- if you ever read a transformers comic or followed the cartoon religiously you should be killed for your ignorance and insolence. Enjoy the hot asses and killer robots given cart blanch to rampage unchecked. You stupid little reading the comics I disresgarded as fodder for babies muthefucking Pokemon collecting mutants.

Which was almost entirely based on his work on The Rock, an amazing movie. His direction was confident, disciplined and inventive. Since, there have been droplets of awesome surrounded by incoherant, mind numbing stupidity. And even when I found his personality so repulsive (which shouldn't matter but, character is important to me) I still defended him for quite some time. I hope to see a Rock era Bay come back. This is a strange project for him. Curious to see how it turns out.

Your use of the word "homophobia" is in fact semantics. The word phobia implies fear. Finding homosexuality to be disgusting or a sin as most Christians do, does not in any way shape or form imply fear. In other words, you don't know what the hell you are talking about. It is perfectly acceptable to not accept homosexuality. There is no "fear". Use a phrase that makes sense. Finding a man having sex with another man to be disgusting is just that, disgust, not fear. I bet you're a dumb ass that says "I could care less". too.
