Herc’s Wednesday TV Talkback!! BIG BROTHER Finale!! SURVIVOR And MTV CHALLENGE Premieres!! The Returns Of Tru’s REPO And TOW!! ROYAL PAINS Finale!! Whigs On KIMMEL!! Pink On THE DAILY SHOW!! X FACTOR!! STORAGE WARS TEXAS!! HERE COMES HONEY BOO BOO!! More!
The Final Three – mind-misting high school teacher Dan Gheesing, chemical engineering student Ian Terry and model-turned-nurse Danielle Murphee – have only hours more to spend in the “Big Brother” house they have occupied since July 7, but only one will be voted $500,000 before that happens. Spoilers and predictions in invisotext. Dan won the Thursday endurance semifinal with the fishhooks. Ian won the (apparently very dirty) other semifinal. Dan and Ian tonight square off live for the title of Final Head of Household. If Dan wins HoH I predict he will evict Ian and win the $500,000. If Ian wins HoH I predict he will take Dan and Dan will win the $500,000. Either way, Dan – the 2008 BB champ – will become the game’s winningest player. I also predict the gorgeous, hilarious Britney Haynes Godwin will win the $25,000 “America’s favorite player” prize for the second time.
The live 90-minute “Big Brother” season finale begins 9:30 p.m. on CBS, right after the “Survivor” premiere.
“Survivor’s” 25th season launching at 8 p.m. features among its contestants “Facts of Life” icon Lisa Whelchel, baseball star Jeff Kent and medical evacuees Michael Skupin, Jonathan Penner and Russell Swan.
Also? This girl:

I’ll bet anybody $100 that Whelchel does not take home the million.
MTV has sucked all the “Road Rules” out of what it used to call the “Real World/Road Rules Challenge.” “The Challenge: Battle of the Seasons” features 28 contestants, all plucked from seven seasons of “The Real World”:
Real World Austin: Lacey Buehler, Melinda Stolp, Wes Bergmann and Danny Jamieson
Real World Brooklyn: Sarah Rice, Chet Cannon, Devyn Sims and J.D. Ordonez
Real World Las Vegas: Trishelle Cannatella, Alton Williams, Dustin Zito and Nany Gonzales
Real World Cancun: Jasmine Reynaud, Jonna Mannion, Derek Chavez and C.J. Koegel
Real World New Orleans Ryan Knight, Jemmye Carroll, McKenzie Coburn and Preston Roberson-Charles
Real World St. Thomas: Trey Weatherholtz , Laura Waller, Marie Roda and Robb Schreiber
Real World San Diego: Zach Nichols, Sam McGinn, Frank Sweeney and Ashley Kelsey
The 90-minute “Challenge” premiere begins 10 p.m.

Ian for the win on Big Brother? He better smarten up and boot Dan if he wins HoH- he mumbles something to that effect last Sunday- what was it was babbling to himself?

I'm still hoping Ian will somehow pull off the 3rd comp. and overall win. Nice Survivor pic!

I think making that bet in regards to Jeff Kent is also a pretty safe one. How many on the jury are going to give a million bucks to a guy who made over 85 times that in his 17 year MLB career? Now, if nobody recognizes him and he keeps his former profession to himself....

herc- If Ian wins HoH, he knows what he must do- on Sunday, he repeatedly whispered to himself, while pacing about, *IF YOU WANT TO BE THE BEST, YOU HAVE TO BEAT THE BEST*..
by Michael Lunney
it seemed to be his way of programming himself to do what he must to win -- BOOT THE BEST - DAN!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I have a hunch he meant beating him with votes in the final 2. My Britney withdrawals are giving me the DTs!

She has friends on the jury and Dan has burned too many bridges. I certainly don't think she deserves to win but I think that's how it's going to go down.

I've masturbated more times than I can count to each episode. What I'd give to be that couch for a day.... I may have drank too much paint thinner today.
-
I am ready to declare it much better than last season. Also, that little Blond former Miss Teen Utah is one of the hottest pieces of ass to ever be on the show. She's quite impressive.
-
Did you see the conversation she was having with Shane during the credits? Very serious.
-
FRANK winning America's Favorite?? For what, being ignorant?
-
Did not realize _an had that much support on the jury!
-
Dan just burned too many bridges to pull off the win. Was it me or did Dan throw the last HOH Challenge?
-
I'm not surprised that he won the 25,000, I mean how many times did he whine about being on the block every week? Ian's win seems like the lesser of two evils, they just didn't want Dan to win.
-
Less than 20 months after the show ended? Yikes! Jesus really Job'd her!

What a great summer finale!!
-
and I think it simply came down to the fact that Dan had won the game before. With the backstabbery and type of game he had to play, that became the ideal excuse to go with Ian. Had Dan not played the game before, the choice is pretty obvious. And i'm pretty sure that Britney knew as soon as Danielle came out, Ian was going to win. Her reaction pretty much said it all.
-
keep that man away from anything remotely dangerous. He'll find a way to hurt himself with it.

I don't think Dan threw it. I think he knew he was behind so he had to answer counter-intuitively and hope to catch up.

BB Hey you guys- the best player won on BB- Ian gave a more convincing speech at the end - Dan's speech was an embarrassment and hard to listen to him plead to win even though he fucked everyone over
by Michael Lunney
Dan played a dirty game- Ian less so- the jury didn't like being fucked over-- playing dirty doesn't make you the better player I was ELATED Ian won!!!!!!!!!! Dan's speech was an embarrassment and hard to listen to him plead to win even though he fucked everyone over
-
Well I don't think a speach that's about a minute is going to make up someones mind who they are going to vote for. I get it if I were in the game I wouldn't have voted for Dan either.

Yes I do think he's speech changed a few minds, like Jenn and Britney. I knew Frank was never going to vote for Dan. I'm sure looking back Dan probably should have kept Shane around, because Shane really didn't do anything in the game.

-
...was the emotional favorite. I'm glad I didn't have a vote. I was sure Ian was going to win favorite player, too. Surprised that Frank did. Too whiney for my taste.
-
That the Jury is part of the game too. He had control of the house and manipulated everyone and against anyone else but Ian he would have won. But you can't backstab everyone in the Jury and expect them to vote for you. He was focused on the final 2 and yes if it was about getting to the final 2 and anyone else but the jury decided who won he would have gotten it. But playing the game means playing with the jury and that is why he lost. Burned way to many bridges.

...mythical 'sweet spot' of lying is just so stupid it hurts. These sort of games are fundamentally about alliance building and deception. They are not so very different than the game Mafia, which, when I had a bit more free time, I enjoyed quite a bit. If you can't understand that the very nature of the game demands dishonesty, and that part of what the game offers is the chance to be devious in an environment that sanctions the behavior, maybe you shouldn't be playing. That said, I'm not sure I would have voted for Dan either, if I was say...Shane. I'd like to think I would, but that was a half million he'd just screwed you out of. Regardless, Ian was my sentimental favorite.
-
Can't believe that people can't see what an arrogant fuckhead Ian is. You created the Quack Pack? Yeah, sure dude. They were already together before you came along. He didn't even come up with the name, Britney did.
-
I think Ian won because of what was said during the finale. Specifically, the reveal that, had Dan won the final HoH, he would have taken Danielle over Ian. Jenn & Shane both know that Dan tried to get Ian out earlier but he won the veto and then won HoH. Ian took Dan to the final 2; Dan would have taken Danielle to the end, and vice-versa. The only way Ian makes it to the end is by winning. And that was after surviving a Dan plot to oust him. I think that's what won the jury over. As effective a game as Dan played, the one player he tried to get out and couldn't was Ian.
-
Whiney, and somewhat hypocritical. Sure, maybe he never had to backstab anyone, but look who he was allied with. He was perfectly happy to let Boogie do the dirty work for the both of them, and when Boogie was gone Frank teamed up with Dan. Frank probably would have been happy to surf all the way to the end in a Dan-made ocean of blood.
-
if Dan thought he'd win against Ian. It wasn't the final two he preferred, but I wonder if he still thought he'd have the votes. The unanimous jury vote for Ian outside of Dani being the last one coming in makes me think that it was a consensus vote planned ahead of time regardless of final speeches. You could tell Britney knew Ian had it after the first couple Ian votes. You see unanimous votes in the house, but rarely (if ever) with the jury. It tarnished the season in my opinion. I don't understand why Britney would consistently defend and champion Dan's game only to vote for Ian. To me, it give gives credence to the talk of Big Brother producer's shenanigans a bit more merit.
-
because, before he joined, it was just a nameless alliance between Shane, Britney, Dan, and Danielle. When he joined they were 5 and had a name. However, since it was Jenn who walked him up there, can she claim that she, in fact, created the Quack Pack? Actually, wouldn't the person who introduced little rubber ducks to the game be the one who is truly responsible for creating the Quack Pack?
-
(Shane & Jenn) I knew Ian had won it. All he needed was 2 more, and from what we'd seen, Frank's vote was going to be for whoever wasn't Dan. That means only 1 more and I figured Ashley's vote for Ian was almost as much a lock as Frank's. Going into it I thought the vote would be 4-3 Shane, Frank, Ashley for Ian Jenn, Britney, Danielle for Dan with Joe being the swing vote that could have gone either way. I was surprised by Jenn's vote, as she seemed to respect Dan's play more than Ian's double-agent dealings. Britney surprised me more. She really did seem to be looking past her own disappointment and hurt feelings to see how well Dan played the game. Ever since we've seen her out of the game she was defending Dan. Dan was all but out the door, managed to not only save himself but his closest ally and get his former nemesis trusting him so much that Frank actually agreed with Dan that Dan shouldn't use his veto on him. Brilliant. But maybe in the end she voted with her heart for the one she'd rather see win. After all, she was closer to Ian than she was to Dan. And maybe her defending Dan was more Devil's Advocate than a reflection of her true feelings. It would be interesting to know how the jury might have voted had the finale been Dan/Danielle. I think if it had been Ian/Danielle, Ian would still have won (but possibly a closer vote).

big jim- when Ian starts spending his money, I don't think he's going to care anymore about the Quack Pack and who did or didn't create it... remember, it's a game to be won
-
His shitty attitude? He didn't play anywhere near as hard as Dan. Dan was a target from day one.
-
The reason is that if Dan was considered the best player, and I believe he was, Ian was most certainly number two and sometimes second-best wins. Without a doubt Dan pulled some amazing moves all season but Ian did a few great things as well. Particularly deciding to go against Frank and Boogie early on, winning vetos when he needed too (if he didn't win those two he'd be gone), and being a well liked guy overall. The last speeches didn't help. Dan spoke way too fast and was too aggressive. Although he apologized for backstabbing it was just words. Ian seemed genuine. I also think the jury got together and said Dan already won $500,000. Let's give it to Ian... he played decently and needs the money. Unlike Survivor where almost every other season the less deserving person wins (sometimes the winner floats through and barely says two words and gets the million), Big Brother for the most part gets it right. If Jenn won I'd be pissed, but Ian? Bah why not, seems deserving enough.
-
They constantly favored Frank, even spilled some stuff about Dan to him in the diary room. Then they were for Ian, telling Dan to put on his microphone (when he already had) as he was having a conversation with Danielle.

Don't know if you heard but Team Fresh Meat (not exactly All-Stars or who you would expect) was brought in three days into filming (lots of post production editing for their arrival at the first challend) to replace Team Sydney (Isaac, Ashli, Dunbar, KellyAnne) for some reason. Everyone is silent on the matter though, cast members won't say why, even after the fact on Twitter. The inquiring mind in me HAS to know. Can you use your detective skills to find out?
-
Loved that they did a couple "oldies"...makes me think their shows on this tour will stick to playing favorites rather than throwing in new material. Wish they'd come a bit North after playing Texas.

Talk about production interference on Big Brother is vaild...
by TopHat
...I remember during one Showtime Big Brother After Dark feed, Shane came back from the diary and told, I think, Danielle, that they told him not to vote Frank out that week. It seems obvious that they really liked Frank and wanted him to stay in as long as possible. Especially considering the fact that he has supposedly been auditioning and invovled with the show for like three years - that's enough time for him to become well known to the producers and staff. I also believe Ian, Dan and Danielle were EXACTLY the final three the producers wanted if they couldn't get Frank.
-
Obviously there is "evidence" of tampering, but is there something in the small print that allows production to get away with it? Could we see a movie like "Quiz Show" in the future with Justin Bieber playing Frank, Andrew Garfield as Dan and Selena Gomez as Jenn City? Is that last one rascist?

I'll have to do some digging later tonight. I got some stuff to pop up by doing a google search for "big brother 14 producer interference".
-
But I can't state that my favorite player lost when I feel he shouldn't? But it's alright for you to praise Ian? I don't care if Dan won previously, if he's the best player he should win again. Was he a target as a coach? Of course.

I've not played that game. I've said before that Survivor is like the classic game Diplomacy. Diplomacy is all about biding your time, and plunging the knife into your ally, one turn before he does it to you.

loosejerk: "...it give gives credence to the talk of Big Brother producer's shenanigans..."
by SutureSelf
It is a violation of federal law to interfere with the results of a game show. You will see a disclaimer on talent shows like American Idol or AGT to the effect of "portions of the show not affecting the outcome have been edited." Even in the editing they may not mislead concerning the results. I have been a contestant on several game shows, though not reality-type or talent shows. I was on "Jeopardy!," "Win Ben Stein's Money," "Scattergories" and a few others. The contestants on those shows were so closely wrangled to prevent the possibility of cheating that we were not able to go to the restroom without accompaniment to the door. I find it impossible to believe that producers of a game show would openly tell contestants how to manipulate the game's outcome. Maybe the BB producers don't care about ending their careers in disgrace and spending some time behind bars. I don't know. I do know that the "shenanigans" that have been described would be illegal.
