A Really Great Red Band Trailer For SINISTER!
Nordling here.
As trailers go, this is the best one yet for SINISTER, the movie directed by Scott Derrickson and written by Derrickson and C. Robert "Massawyrm" Cargill. And yet, I'm reluctant to say that you should watch it. There's some fairly spoilery imagery in the thing, and some of it is best discovered in the theater.
But I also think that this trailer comes closest to the vibe of the movie, more so than the others, and if you let it in, SINISTER can be quite the unnerving and scary horror experience. It's playing at Fantastic Fest and if you haven't seen it and are attending, well, you know you need to check this one out. Here's the Red Band trailer:

This movie looks like a million other movies we've already seen. Why do they keep making this movie. If it turns out to be something that isn't supernatural, I'm going to be pissed. We deserve a good supernatural horror film.

I just can't ever seem to get over the fact that i know its all staged. Ghosts and evil shit dont exist either. It doesnt scare me, just comes off as silly. I like ethan hawke though and the trailer did make it look like it was a well crafted film. I'll give it a try but I dont have much hope. It better have a damn good story behind all the not scary crap.

Seriously, what is it with americans dropping thier first name and replacing it with a letter, is it some kind of embarrasement at thier first names like C Thomas Howell, F Gary Gray etc i mean, no other country does it! Oh, and now you've seen the trailer you have SEEN THE FILM. Short of showing you the very end of the movie, the trailer has given away the whole shabang, including the best jump scares. Saw the film myself at Frightfest...

Same sorta stuff done 1,000 times before. So-called "horror" movies rarely do it for me. Would like to see someone take horror in a more creative, unexpected direction. I think "The Master" will be scarier.

Looks like Amityville/every other hounted house movie ever made. Guess the demon in the picture is their twist. Some of the imagery looks cool so I may check it out on Halloween unless something better is out. (possibly the Rob Zombie flick)

So, naturally, this trailer's better. And give Massawyrm a break people. He's a critic who is actually putting something out there to be critiqued. Unlike Harry, who just writes for years and years about projects he's developing until he can't bulshit any more so he moves on to another project that he can claim for a few years. Anyway, Massawyrm and Quint are the two writers on this site that I always clicked on first when given a choice and Massawyrm was probably the best reviewer on the site, so I wanna see what he came up with. Sure, the freaky shit has been done to death in the last five years, but five years ago we were all complaining that there hadnt been a sacry movie in years. Sure, the freaky shit doesn't equal scary but when done right, like in The Ring, and Ju-On, the freaky visuals add an element to an already scary movie and make it more scary. This movie is surrounded by talent and I would go see it opening night, as October 12th is my birthday, but Social Distortion is playing at the Vic that night and Mike Ness simply must take precedent
