Pacino And Walken Are STAND-UP GUYS In New Trailer!!
The Kidd here...
I long for the days when I didn't groan upon seeing a film starred Al Pacino. It feels like forever ago when I didn't have to really hope a Pacino film would be good; I knew it would be. If he's in something decent now, I consider it a small victory. I mean, do you think the Pacino of old would have been caught anywhere near JACK AND JILL?
Give him a heartfelt and less crazy than normal Christopher Walken and Alan Arkin, and the odds tip in STAND UP GUYS' favor that Pacino may be in something pretty good. Wouldn't that be something?
Here's the trailer for STAND UP GUYS (via Yahoo!):

bad trailer at least
-
Quality film, restrained performances, older people, in an intelligent examination of what life is about? It'll get shredded down here.
-
If the ending is tragic, it'll be awesome. If they wimp out and give us a happy ending, then fuck it.
-
for the bit where I'm supposed to believe that it's sexy for a young hot chic to be attracted to an old, very old man!

Interestingly, the director is an Academy Award winner, too
by MattDomville
...but he's best known for bein' in "Short Circuit 2".
-
will be waiting in line. I agree, it's been FAR too long since Pacino made a film that didn't make me cringe :( ... just sayin

If not for the dancing scene, the trailer would be great...
by Bill C.
...including it, while it doesn't completely clash with the feel of the rest of the trailer, just makes it seem a bit more like a mobbed-up 'Scent of a Woman.' And royston lodge might be on to something...the ending is going to be important, though they don't necessarily have to go all Butch and Sundance with it.
-
This looks like it has some nice heart. Walken keeping it even keel, Arkin being Arkin, Pacino perhaps not phoning it in, a confined story that takes place in one evening... it has some tropes, but they are nice ones. I'm definitely game for this.
-
Come on now! Three acting legends... subtle performances... a compelling plot/reason to watch the movie... potentially great camera work... what more could you want??????
-

To clarify: I personally liked all of the trailer EXCEPT the dancing.
by Bill C.
I get why it's there, so to speak; it just didn't do anything for me. Honestly, I'm still kind of agog at the idea of a restrained Walken AND Pacino...in the same movie...at the same time. Hell, I'll watch it just for that.
-
There's no way that this movie is going to have a sunshine and rainbows happy ending, but if Pacino's character makes it through it's about the triumph of friendship. There's nothing wrong with that. Saying "oh this story will suck if it isn't a doom and gloom ending" is simply the worst kind of cunty, cynical posturing.
-
He's Aliiiiiiiiive!!
-
i think it'll be ok. pacino and walken NOT coasting through their performances should be at least interesting to watch. i forgot the last time pacino didn't overact, or walken didn't play the weird old guy. i don't know. i kind of like this, and they picked the right people to do it too. the dancing part didn't bother me although i'm hoping that was his daughter that hasn't visited him in the 16 years. if is a love interest is lame, since it means she would have been 9 when he went in. looks like the whole movie is one night too. and didn't seem like pacino and walken would tag team and kill the boss at the end. i'll watch this.
-
Didn't need the dancing. But this looks promising.

It's tough to watch great actors, who always had so much potential, get old.
by AlienFanatic
So much charisma still left in Walken and Pacino. I wish Pacino, and especially DeNiro, had been able to transition to indie films when their starring roles had petered out instead of accepting silly, embarrassing roles just to pay the bills. I ask you, though, what young actors are out there taking their place? I'm sure some will come along, and Fassbender is being asked to star in EVERYTHING because that type of charisma and screen presence is rare among today's pretty boys, but it's still nice to see the old-time stars getting some roles that might again let them demonstrate why they were so appealing way back when. I think great acting is like good genes. It tends to skip a generation.

sers everywhere, please refrain from embedding yahoo videos. It's worst than IGN videos. IN fact, I daresay it is the shittiest web player on the internet. When you embed a yahoo video, the first thing I do is quit reading your article, go to youtube, and find the trailer there. I just did with this. Its better quality, and it actually loads. Thanks for reading, I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

It's not the sequel that we don't deserve, but the sequel that we need. Fat Kilmer. Zombie DeNiro. Jon "It's a free country brotha" Voight. Al "Gotta Eat" Pacino. Introducting to the group Leo DiCrapio. Johnny 'Jack Sparrow' Depp. Shia LaBeef. Tom Hardlyseeamoview/ohimthesedays. Last but not least.....Channing Taters(precious)

This film ends with Pacino firing two bullets in Mark Margolis's head and screams "Look atchoo now!"

Or the geezers have an ice cream social. Either way works for me.

Interesting spin on the ole let's-get-the-old-guys-back-together-to-raise-hell-one-last-time plot. I'll definitely be checking it out.

devolves into a lets take it to them Butch and sundance go out together ending

I worked for a band a few years back and the band leader had a friend who always came around and who was dealing blow even though the dude was in his late 60's. If you could see the pieces of ass that old dude walked into the club with your eyes would fall out of your head. He was banging one hot chick after another, not a bad looking guy but still 67 or so. And these chicks were not crack heads, they were in their 20's-30's and most of them could easily pass for models. Dude just had a way with women and I guess had some money from his drug dealing business lol. I see young chicks all the time digging guys in their 50's in my line of work. Most of the guys are NOT rich either.

I'm such an AICN rebel.
-
Who has spent more years making terrible movies than good ones by now. Hearing Deniro's name mentioned in a trailer now makes me cringe.
-
How can you really dislike this trailer? Especially the guy who said he stopped it halfway through. I say welcome back, Mister Pacino. I can't yet forgive you for your recent films, but this is a step in the right direction.
-
They can't wait to shit on every new trailer. Seriously, get a fucking life. Why do you even bother coming on here? Get offline and direct that truly brilliant masterpiece that we all know you're capable of...you fucking loser as swipes. I think this looks fucking great, and even if it's only good, it will still have more impact than the entire lives of some cynical douchebag nerds who have forgotten how to enjoy films.
-
Fun and entertaining, might make for a good night out. Walken does such a good job with that something-weighing-on-my-mind look of his. Looking forward to it.

Al's been doing for-the-paycheck, phone-in-the-performance films for a long time
by Queefer Sutherland
The last tolerable thing he did was Donnie Brasco, and THAT wasn't so great. If he does something good, I'll be VERY pleasantly surprised. Walken hasn't done anything terribly notable in just as long, or maybe longer. So I'm skeptical. These guys are old and don't really care that much anymore, and once you stop having passion you just don't give it your all. We'll see.
-
is absolutely right, those yahoo embeds are awful. Why not just link directly to youtube?
-
wasn't really expecting that...
-
Looks good but I feel the trailer gave away too much of the movie.

Is this a comedy or a drama? 'Cos if it is a comedy all pass. Not funny.

-
the calibre of the actors involved. Pacino has been hitting a bit of a slump of late with the abominable, "88 Minutes" and "Righteous Kill", but this at least looks tollerable. Interesting to see him in the upcoming "Spector" though.
-
then again he never lost it.
-
I still like him so Ill see this. Not pay for it though, no way.
