Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. Sorry for all the Jaws spam in the wake of the big Blu-Ray release, but I just saw something I have to share. Peter Benchley did a preview of Jaws with unique Behind the Scenes interviews and I’ve heard about it for a long while, but thought it was lost to time.
Peter Benchley’s wife has found at least the opening 8 minutes of this video and has posted it online and boy, is it something. Watching Spielberg direct Dreyfuss on the Orca, getting some early thoughts from Spielberg on what the cultural impact of Jaws could be and then, of course, the one on one chat with Robert Shaw wearing a bright yellow Jaws crew shirt… well, this is crack for me and I want you all to become Jaws crackheads like me, so I just had to share it.

There's a guy in that doc who collects pinball machines and also happens to collect Jaws memorabilia who could give you a run for your money. The inside of his house is cool as shit.

Steven Speilberg was a young director and Richard Dreyfuss and Roy Schieder thought that Steven Spieilberg didnt know what he was doing.They thought the film was stupid.Robert Shaw was the only one that thought that this was going to be a hit.And Robert Shaw was drunk off his ass during the filming.The scene wear he was really drunk was the boat scene when they were singing.Also,the shark didnt work.It always broke down,thats why we never saw the shark until the end of the film and yes,it made for a dramatic effect.And the shark was named Bruce.

That someone actually died when the mechanical shark bit down on them during the filming of this movie? Don't know where I heard that urban legend but it's always stuck in the back of my mind when I hear people talking about "Jaws".

Thanks for this quint, just great seeing Robert Shaw talking about the movie and seeing the direction from Steven, loved it just wished it went on for an hour longer. I think that not having much on Robert Shaw in the blu ray release of TSISW or the 2 hour documentary was pretty poor, hopefully they will release the full version of TSISW eventually!

Robert-Fucking-Shaw: One of the most legendary, scene-stealing actors of the twentieth century. Ran away with "Jaws" and literally kicked connery's ass in "From Russia With Love". Pure gold. Nice little retro doc. Shame it comes to an abrupt stop.

You can hear little bits of where he was born and places he grew up; Lancashire, Cornwall and Ireland. Every now and then. Mixed in with Quint's native Boston accent.

He was born in Westoughton which is a mile away from where i live. There is a street called Robert Shaw Street in the next town called 'Leigh'. Shaw is a legend and one hell of an actor...On another note George Formby's house is in the next street to me... Welcome to Wigan, Home of the stars..
