A tape-delayed eviction on tonight’s “Big Brother.” (Tomorrow’s live show will likely feature a live eviction that will narrow will likely follow tomorrowOn Sunday’s show we saw Ian win another HoH competition and nominate Jenn and Shane. Spoilers in invisotext. Shane won the veto competition and pulled himself off the block; Ian decided not to nominate the mind-misting Dan and nominated instead Danielle, who was almost certainly be saved by longtime allies fellow QuackPackers Shane and Dan. Those attending the live eviction taping indicate that rock star Jenn rocketed to jury, and Alabama girl Danielle won the subsequent HoH (meaning she’s in The Final Three).

My guess is Danielle will nominate Dan and Ian, but of course whoever wins the subsequent veto competition is the one who really decides who joins Danielle in the Final Three.

The 90-minute season finale airs one week from tonight, right after the 25th season premiere of “Survivor.”

Premiering tonight:

American Restoration (10pm History)

Cajun Pawn Stars (9:30pm History)

Family Guns (10pm NGC)

Guys With Kids
(10pm NBC)

Parole Diaries (10pm TV1)

Wheeler Dealers (9pm Velocity)

X Factor (8pm Fox)

Also? Tonight brings premieres of three (!) shows dealing with NFL football, to join “Hard Knocks” “Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders” and perhaps a number of other NFL shows I’m not thinking of:
1) A Football Life (8pm NFLN)
2) Inside The NFL (9pm Showtime)
3) NFL Turning Point (10pm NBCSN)

With a big football game and the DNC to compete with, "Honey Boo Boo" saw its first downtick last week:

  • Well, that and audiences who've been tuning in because people are talking about it have stopped trying to figure out why anyone is watching and changed the channel.

    Is Damages worth sticking with?

    by theGoldbergV

I loved the first season, the second was OK, great in parts, but I gave up on it in season 3. Did they turn it around? Because whenever a series gets the chance to end on its own terms I think it might be worth a look. No spoilers please, but if there are any fans here can you say whether seasons 4 and 5 were any good?

  • Very much a sitcom. Plot: I have a dilema, we have a solution, things go wrong. "Filmed in front of a live studio audience". I don't doubt that. However, I still think it's a laugh track. Just because a live audience saw it, doesn't mean their audible reactions were used in the final cut. A few funny bits now and again; I'll check the next episode to see if it gets better but, if it stays the same (just another moderately funny sitcom that no one will remember two years from now), I won't be watching. Last year's "Man Up" was much funnier. Here's the spoilerish part: Jesse Bradford has a dilema - he has a date but no one to watch his kid. It takes 1/3 of the episode before one of his buddies says "I'll look after him". He goes through asking his friends for names of babysitters, fighting with his ex over the subject, getting a sitter, having her cancel, before it occurs to any of the three that one of the other two can look after the kid (they all live in the same building so it really is the easiest solution). Again, it takes them 1/3 of the episode to come up with a plan that occurred to me 2 seconds after he said "oh, I can't go I have to look after my kid". But here's the part that confused me. Meadow Soprano is pissed that her husband opted to stay home to look after Bradford's kid instead of going to the Titanic dance with her. I get that; what I don't get was who was supposed to look after their kids? She was all set to go but, last second, realizes her husband had made other plans. What, was she planning on leaving her toddler in the care of her 7 year old daughter? She was pissed he stayed home to look after his buddy's kid; she should have been grateful he was there to also look after their kids because, apparently, no one else was going to.

    Ian will backdoor Dan...

    by MapMan

... I hope. He can't rely on the jury picking him over Dan the way he's been playing this year.

Season 4 was pretty good but 5 has been a bore. The main plot revolves around a Wikileaks-type situation. I just watched the series finale and was really disappointed.

    Damages

    by Truxton Spangler

The first season was unequivocally the best. The second season wasn't as good, but still pretty good, and the third season a bit below that. The last two seasons on DTV had a different look, probably because of a lower budget and a different DP(?). The fourth season case involving the private military contractor was still interesting, but this last one with a Wikileaks-type site was a snore, with little intrigue. It served mainly as a setup to pit Patty and Ellen against each other, and by the time it ends, it matters little on every level. I think season five is mainly for those who have stuck with it from the beginning, with lots of callbacks to the first season that a new viewer wouldn't know or relate to. And though I'm indifferent on Phillipe overall, I don't think his performance really measured up to the great guest casts from prior seasons, despite seemingly being anatural for a smarmy type. A crinkly Col. Stuart and Jack Bristow didn't leave much of an impression either. Good to see Judd Hirsch, too, but his character was pointless. Stick with it? A loyal fan might find the later seasons OK, if only to keep visiting with those characters, but it won't draw anyone else in.

    Herc....don't bother re: Real World

    by Loosejerk

For as much drama that was in the reunion, the season didn't play out that way. It sounds like the cast was definitely at odds more than the season's editing showed. A lot of what was discussed (self-injurious behavior, substance abuse, most of the bickering) was held to one or two episodes per subject cut around scenes of them partying or visiting a millionaires mansion. Where past seasons have focused on the case working/volunteering during the season, it seems like they only showed them at the aquatic zoo a couple times. I'd say the bigger themes were the two showmances which one was pathetic on both ends and the other wasn't near as heated as it got at the reunion.

    Big Brother - Ian

    by Loosejerk

Ian can't backdoor Dan if he doesn't have the ability to do so. Gotta win the veto to have the power at this point. Spoilers are out there if you want to know how it looks like it is going to play out for final three.

    Mcgootoo - google search

    by Loosejerk

Google search - "Morty's Big Brother updates" I don't want to spoil. Final three won't be determined until tonight, but the veto winner has and some discussion about what that person will probably do with it.

    Dan

    by Loosejerk

I really felt Dan was playing a HORRIBLE game initially. It was almost that he was still playing the coach role for Danielle after he became a player. The last several weeks he has turned it around showing some amazing strategy and the willingness to send anyone and everyone packing if needed. Earlier I thought Britney had the best game, but after Dan brought her down it is all him. No one left in the house should win over Dan as Jenn was the only one with the brains enough to know Dan is unbeatable in the end. I hope it will come down to Danielle, her showmance and her coach for final three. That should be some good TV.

  • harrysnemesis - I want Ian to win, that crazy kid- Dan is playing a great game but he already won the big loot- if he wins again though, cool- he played an excellent game

The only weak season was the second. Every other season has been phenomenal.
