New pics from the THOR 2 set? Yes, please.
Hello ladies and gentlemen, Muldoon here and thanks to Talkbacker "didntpulloutintimecop" I was directed to the Daily Mail where they have a few pretty kickass set pics from THOR: THE DARK WORLD which is currently in production, blowing things up in the woods while having beautiful women riding around on horses. Here's a few pics, but go hit up the Daily Mail for a few more. Seems like they have quite an action sequence in the works.
Updated with pics from Comic Book movie.

What do you ladies and gents think? You digging what you're seeing? I am, but shout out in the Talkbacks below!

...and they are apparently in talks with Viggo Mortensen to play the part. If true, that is awesome and a great way to introduce a great character. The mythology plays nicely together as well.

Thanks

To be epic on the scale of LOTR. And thats coming from a huge Tolkien nerd. If they had the balls to make these movies about 90% fantasy and 10% earth, it could be great shit. Instead, we'll likely gwt another 50% awesomeAsgardstuff and 50% JaneFostersnoozfest.

Behind the scenes shots of films like this always look so ridiculous.

It's amazing how much "movie magic" plays into the feel of a film. Without that magic, it's just a bunch of ordinary people in retarded costumes, doing absurdly dumb things.

loki has had so many different designs thru the years.Hears hoping he looks a bit more disheveled and monstrous this time also..i hoped that marvel would have given Thor's costume the "gold booties". could ve been a nice stylistic departure and a welcome nod to the classic look

Is Thor the new spokesperson for double mint gum? Is that the Thor Clone Ragnarok? Thor has Loki's powers now! I know it is a stunt double type. This movie should will rock. They got the Earth part origin story out of the way, the budget will be higher after Avengers and Thor success, and the guy who directs Game of Thrones is directing it. Christopher Eccelston from series one of Who, Stringer HemBell will have more screen time, Doctor Strange rumor, the movie doesn't even come out till November 2013, kudos Marvel! They got me hooked like a soap opera viewer now

on what Thor pic with Spider-Man he's talking about. I guess that probably means it was just an attempt to start an internet rumor. If not, speak up, man. You've at least got me interested now.

I really wish they would have found a way to make that work. Whedon did an AWESOME job redoing Loki's helm, and I think they could have had Thor wear it at least some. It's just so iconic.

by steverogers5
The fake looking armour on his arms always annoys me. I was hoping that maybe after Avengers they would do away with it. But now it looks like it spreading onto his legs just like it looks in the recent comics. Jeez, it's not like he needs it as well. Guy shrugs off punches from the Hulk..

Who's the burned face dude? Is he the dude who speaks to Thanos in the Avengers?
by Stereotypical Evil Archer
-
So can Thor also power up his hair just like Mjolnir? Looks like he's getting ready to use his mighty Asgardian hair power to smite his enemies!
-
...isn't the fact that it's THOR 2. I'd say I'm a bigger Chris Hemsworth fan than a Thor fan (yes, blasphemy... but it's the Superman argument where it's just no fun when the dude is that insanely powerful...) but it's that guy in the top left of the first picture with the lanyard.

Looks like a He-Man episode gone absolutely batshit. This whole superhero fantasy man thing has run its course. Sack up, males of the world, stop buying dolls and laser gun toys, stop looking up to this shit, and be a real man.

by ThulsaBoom
...which I liked. But, this one is much closer to the LOTR, original Conan look, thus much closer to the Thor movie I dream of. Dr. Strange will be tough, if they don't spend much time in Midgard. Perhaps, Jane Foster enlists his services to find dimensional transport to Asgard? Fingers crossed.
-

...they should use that for a gay rights advocacy campaign. It would be kind of like Michael Moore's theory that if they would just use hot lesbians kissing in more of their advertising gay rights would be farther along in the culture war. I hear Big Earl has a cameo to. "All right guys, I'm not going to lie to you. This is gonna get a little weird.........two Thor's. Oh, eureka. God, that's nice."
-
What the hell is Jedi Master Plo Koon doing in that first scene?
-
YES PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Did you hear about Jim Starlin saying he would like to see Arnold as Thanos. Great minds...blah blah blah.
-
I'm an avowed Strange obsessive. Pairing with Thor seems kind of weird at first, but they do have Marvel Team-Up connective tissue, and early Strange Tales team-ups. If mostly a way to dimensionally connect Midgard and the other realms, it is a bit of using a bazooka to solve a pea shooter problem. I like Viggo BIG TIME for this, but I wonder about whether he's older than they want to cast an actor to play a "connective tissue" character like Strange, who one would expect to start popping up everywhere not unlike Fury. He's the most notorious Deus Ex Magica that Marvel has. The prospect of a standalone Strange movie off the bat may be tough for now due to not getting a script they love, but it's no harder a sell to the audience than Guardians of the Galaxy. If anything, I'd think it easier by a long shot. Strange also would be marketable in the "dark, gritty" mold of the Batman movies, which appear to be taking a break for a while post-TDKR. It isn't that big a stretch to describe Strange as largely "Batman+magic", especially seeing as how Goyer stole from his own Strange script for the origin used in Batman Begins. I guess what I'm saying is "OHGODIWANTDOCSTRANGETOBEGREATOHGODOHGODBYTHEVISHANTIANDTHERINGSOFRAGGADORANDTHEBANDSOFCYTTORAKANDTHEHOARYHOSTSOFHOGGOTH"

Thor 2, and yet we haven't got a Black Panther movie...
by The Dum Guy
Snipes should'a done Black Panther right after Blade. Which is (Blade) arguably responsible for the surge in super hero movies we have today.

is show Natalie Portman's tits. But even if they don't, it will still be great. I think Thor gets better each time I see it ... and following the Avengers, this movie should kick balls.

by chien_sale
Malekith is the gorgeous Lord of the Dark Elves, he's like Ziggi Stardust.

Dark, lanky, weird, mature, talented - a perfect Dr. Strange. I bet he can be had reasonably cheap, which would suit Marvel fine. By the Hoary Hosts of Hoggoth, let it be so!
-
Sept. 11, 2012, 10:46 p.m. CST
On the subject of Blade and X-Men, Blade was two fold. It kept the idea of comic book films from imploding after Batman and Robin burst the bubble the first time around.
by ShadowVoyd
It also helped shape the idea that a comic book movie doesn't have to be a "toyetic" mess and could take some serious treatment.<P> X-Men basically re-framed the mainstream comic book adaptation and helped set up what we know today (even with Fox getting gold feet post Batman and Robin and slashing 20 million from the budget at the 11th hour).

And I was such a bitch about it. I'll better myself, promise!

The suit and hair makes me think: Flashback scene
by DidntPullOutInTimeCop
Amazing to think it will be the third year in a row with Marvel's Thor in a movie. And people said it wouldn't work :)
-
I'm surprised no one has mentioned that yet, looks like it could be to me.
-
With the other costumes seen on the extras who don't look explicitly of Asgard or Svartalheim, I think we may be seeing yet another Asgardian intervention in an outer realm incursion into Midgard. Which, by itself, seems very much old hat (remove Frost Giants, insert Dark Elves) but hopefully won't be another retread when given context (and a lot more action packed length).
-
...but with Alan Taylor handling things, I knew I would be. Looking forward to more!

A shot with Iko Uwais. The star of 'The Raid Redemption' http://www.strangeobsession.com/blog/
-
...where did you? I'd love a link if you got one. If Starlin said it, that's about as good as an endorsement as you can get outside of Whedon. Arnold will kill as Thanos. Please movie gods, make it so.
-
This is gonna suck!
-
...I just can't see them giving enough screen time to Dr. Strange if it is indeed set mostly in Asgard, which I hope it is. I don't really want to see Dr. Strange pop up for the first time in Asgard, or in an insignificant cameo, and I have a tough time seeing how he can get his due in a short, Midgard-set segment. I was saying "fingers crossed" about him actually having a reason to be there, not to my half-cocked, first-thing-that-came-to-my-mind, dimensional transport rubbish. Just not a walk-by. A purpose. Also, I agree with your point about it being a potentially darker property. Love to see Guillermo Del Toro do it. He may lean more towards "handsome" film-making than "gritty," but I like his kind of dark for Strange.

Could be Flashback scene. Different Armor, Hair in a Tie
by Lex Luthor II
It seems like it could be a flashback, but could be now. His hair is Avengers length, but half tied back in the way they sometimes draw him, and his armor is different too. I hope its not a flashback personally. Looks AWESOME though. Anything showing more THOR smashing things with his hammer and showing him to be the ULTIMATE powerful badas$ he is will be awesome. More Sif too, awesome. This is gonna be great.
-
I'm sure Alan Taylor is more suited to the material than Ken Brannagh -even though he did a good confident enough job with it.
-
A friend texted that bit of news the other day. I googled Jim Starlin Thanos and that is the top news. He apparently said it at Dragon con. Fingers crossed.

Is that Rapce in the Alien ship arriving on the wrong planet in the last piccie? And who's fishface?
by borisdoris
-
He's an inspired choice, but it'll never happen. Marvel can't afford to trust a connective, franchise-spanning character to a litigious weirdo with a reputation for being difficult. Risk to reward ratio would not be in their favor.
-
I really enjoyed the first one, but every bit of extra dirt and Viking-ness about it is welcome. Sword battles with weirdly ornamented opponents in a Northern European forest? Sign me up. I'm sure the Marvel slickness will be well in place overall in this film, but of all the Marvel stable, Thor makes the most sense to tie to this sort of natural, rugged setting.

Imagine a Thor with the Hard "R"/Soft-core aesthetic of GoT
by SergeantStedenko
Imagine Kat Dennings getting pummeled from behind by Heimdall as her pendulous breasts heave back and forth towards the 3D IMax camera.
-
Why has no one mentioned this yet, quite confident thats him.

I expect that character to be a certified badass, with a much cooler helmet/mask.
-
Much better than those taken with a camera on a phone!! I hope that Thor 2 holds together.
-
Not if I want to stay excited about this movie. Like someone else said above, there is a lot of "magic" that goes into making what we see in the theatre. I'll have a tough time believing it if I see any more of this amateur stuff.

He should either lose the metallic look or go all Vikings. Either way he should shave his beard, get longer hair and wear an helmet.

-
You haven't ever been on a movie set before have you? The equipment in the first and last photos blows your assertion out of the water.
-
Now that I would go see.
-
I'd like to see him in helmet too, but this is the angle Marvel is taking in their films - star-driven, personality-driven stuff that can engage the average viewer. Thor was a tough sell to begin with. What made it such a solid success was how well people across the board connected with it. A big part of that was the endearing, appealing lead. Hemsworth in a helmet would appeal to the guys like us who are already going to see these films. Hemsworth *not* in a helmet appeals to the rest of the moviegoing world, especially the female part that likes to see a handsome man with his face and long hair unobstructed by a somewhat ridiculous helmet. I think that's the reality of Marvel films. Hemsworth, Downey, Evans, unmasked as much as possible, to make it easier for them to stand out in busy scenes and to present their natural charisma without obstruction. I think the helmet would be cool, but if this is what allows us to have Thor films, I accept it.
