Herc’s Thursday TV Talkback!! Double-Eviction BIG BROTHER!! MTV VMAs!! Obama Girl Longoria Hits The DNC Finale!! Howard Stern On LETTERMAN!! Trey Parker On KIMMEL!! David Simon On CRAIG!! + New L WORD, CHILDRENS HOSPITAL, BIBLE CHALLENGE, WIPEOUT, More!!
“Hairy orange beast” Frank is apparently headed out the door early in tonight’s “Big Brother” episode -- so that a second houseguest can be evicted about 30 minutes later. I’m guessing the menu ends here for Chef Joe and his tall tales. That would leave these five in the house: rock star Jenn, brainiac Ian, bedmates Shane & Danielle and sole surviving ex-coach Dan. After tonight, only five 2012 episodes remain.
Past hosts of the MTV Video Music Awards include Eddie Murphy, Dan Aykroyd, Dennis Miller, Dana Carvey, Chris Rock, Ben Stiller, Jimmy Fallon, Jack Black, Russell Brand and Chelsea Hanlder.
Tonight’s VMA is hosted by Kevin Hart, an actor-comedian who starred as Zezelryckin in 2009’s “Kröd Mändoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire.” He also plays C.J. in the “Scary Movie” movies.
Improbably good line-ups on many late night shows tonight:
LETTERMAN: Howard Stern, Jason Aldean
KIMMEL: Trey Parker & Matt Stone, Adam Scott, Everclear
CONAN: Seth Green, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Milo Green
FERGUSON: Angela Kinsey, David Simon, the Heavy
FALLON: Jeff Probst, Claire Danes, Calise Hawkins
STEWART: economist Austan Goolsbee
COLBERT: former New Mexico governor Bill Richardson
Returning tonight:
Living Abroad (HGTV)
Raising House (DIY)

Frank is 100% Beast Mode this summer on BB and deserves to win the viewers choice IMHO. Dan is a tool who will turn heel a a drop of a hat. Not sure why the noobs keep that dude around considering he's a former champ.

what the fuck?

i dont know why Herc the fucking Hack is not having a seperate tb for oblameyas DNC *speech*....my (accurate) prediction from the idiot sycophants in here after the oblameya speech....
by jay2517
....utter orgasmic elation. no matter WHAT the failure says. oblameya could come up on stage, literally shit in a bag, throw it against his face and yell out *four more years, bitches! im out!* and u sycophants would scream- *yes!! what an amazing orator this man is!! what an eloquent speaker!! the greatest in our history!!!!*....BANK on it. BTW- i really hope MSNBC has a 5 second delay ready for that idiot fuck Matthews. its gonna get ugly when he whips it out and starts jerking off live screaming *the tingle!!! the tingle!!!.....its BACK!!* sigh....
-
Of the players left, Dan deserves this. They felt the first double eviction coming. I haven't seen them guess this going down tonight. Because of that, it will be confusing and I wouldn't be surprised if Joe goes as a "easy eviction" or even a power player is evicted in the heat of the moment.

ill be watching college football anyway, so who gives a shit.
by jay2517
ill watch the reaction on MSNBC for a laugh and to motivate me to lift lol. thats the only good thing about MSNBC, it really keeps the motivation for working out and lifting. if im having trouble getting motivated? just turn that shitfest on anytime during 6-10pm and thats all she wrote.

loosejerk - I can understand why you are rooting for Dan, he's played one hell of a strategic, creative game so far, But I would love for Ian to be the big winner rather than Dan a 2nd time

paburrows_rises - I just wrote something about you on the Wednesday talkback- thank you, and cheers for understanding my excitement for tonight's festivities.
by Michael Lunney
Your concern for me just proves my point- please give it a read, my friend.
-
Its funny how easy it is to get sucked into all of the back and forth, we all have strong feelings and convictions which is good, it means that you care about something. Sometimes its hard though to debate and at the same stay nice. I appriciate your kind words buddy and for vouching for me. I have really appriciated your presence here on the boards.

Not sure if you all know about this, but Shepard Fairey is going to prison
by Paul
Shepard Fairey was the artist who created the Omama "Hope" poster, taking politics out of things I found this interesting as another artist who actually quite admires the skill of the "Hope" poster along with the old and new Obama logos. With source material like the bible (which is plagiarized myth from older sources), how can you have right or wrong answers? Glad to see the 45% ratings drop from week 1 to week 2!

I think that's the first time that may have happened and I have been watching BB since season 2.

See, jay, the goal post is where I kick the ball for an extra point after scoring on you
by Uncle Pooky
We call that a "touchdown". It's worth 6 points. The extra point is when I kick the ball through the uprights of the goal post. So that gives me a total of 7 points.

I find it funny that the guy who knows the least about fighting wars and that refuses to listen to his generals is the one lecturing his opponent.
by Paul
-
You mean the guy who has been POTUS for 4 years whilst handling multiple theaters of war somehow knows less than his clueless, out of touch, Cold War-thinking opponent?! What has Willard "Mitt" Romney done to prove he knows anything about fighting wars?! Refuses to listen to his generals, eh? Boy, you guys will say ANYTHING to create a false narrative. Of course, you do realize that the POTUS is the Commander in Chief? As the principal lead of our civilian controlled military, he is the one who dictates the policy...not the other way around. Are you mentally unsound? Is that your problem?
-
Didn't really say anything except for empty platitudes, but a great speech. Don't really agree with any of it. Dispite what Clinton said Reagan DID fix the horrible economy in his first term, or at least made it a lot better then it was before.
-
An mr. nice gaius your being nothing but a troll and a bully with your name calling.
-
...or he REALLY did shit in a bag and throw it against his face. wow, never thought that would happen, but the partisan MSM will still spin into a *momentous, country unifying blah blah blah.* oh well...
-
Sept. 7, 2012, 1:06 a.m. CST
Which advice, PaBurrows? And what about it should he have heeded?
by Mr. Nice Gaius
A bully and a troll, eh? Well, you need to grow a thicker skin if you plan on sticking around AICN...

It's such a shame that his vote counts the same as mine.

Anyone else find it odd that there are so few comments compared to RNC thread?
by aceattorney
It's as if people just don't care.
-
It's more likely convention burnout and the vacuous nature of the RNC than anything else.
-
...because gaffs, blunders and unnforced errors are what get the attention on aicn. The silence is golden.

...no one was throwing any peanuts, setting a new landspeed in easily identified political lying or losing an argument with a chair.

red ned lynch -sure- hit me- who wo the HoH???? BB is one of my guilty pleasures for the psy/ops strategy of the better players
by Michael Lunney
BTW- I liked last night's speech, but Clinton's was more inspiring.....and more specific Perhaps it's just hearing the same things over and over, said the same way...... Clinton added a different perspective that seeemed more relaxed...... Interesting 2 weeks here on the AICN TV talkbacks, eh? Too bad we can't just dunk each candidate in water, and the one who floats wins.... Oh well... this modern world.... and then the next..... to paraphrase my mother....

by Michael Lunney
And watch out for the rattlesnakes lurking in the tumbleweeds...... Dry and dusty.... hot, baked terrain will make any good man crack under the scorch... Be well and be careful to not become that which you despise-- it seems to happen way too much to good people, for no good purpose that matters to anyone- At least not here.. in these here parts.... Tolerance and peace

wow, that speech REALLY didnt bolster any confidence in ur leftys on here lol!
by jay2517
wow, that says it all. no bragging of the *enlightened* one? the greatest orator evah?? 'ol oblameya really burst u fellas balloons last night eh? all that vague meandering and evasion to real solutions must have shocked ur progressive minds lol. underwhelming and petty comes to mind. like oblameya himself said, if u cant run on your own record...
-
but, i forgot, u dont like facts. never mind. just keep moving those goal posts! BTW- glad(!!) that u know the rules of football! its just that, i wasnt referring TO football when....oh never mind....*sigh*....
-
So how do you think that they are going to handle the whole Artemis and Aqualad going undercover story on Young Justice? That was a big supprise they pulled at the end that Artimis didn't really get killed. Im curious when its returning, I hope that its this month and not January. Love this time of year all sorts of new stuff finally coming out, YJ, hopefully Korra, Transformers Prime, Tron Legacy, Green Lantern, Fringe (said that this is ending and want more episodes, but I'm glad that they are getting the chance to finish the story their way without extra padding), Person of Interest, Once Upon A Time, Hawaii 5-O, going to give Revolution and Arrow a chance.
-
Sept. 7, 2012, 12:54 p.m. CST
Jay, you haven't referred to anything, so I didn't need the explanation.
by Uncle Pooky
You know, for someone who doesn't like facts, I sure do a great job knowing what they are and being able to back them up. But, such is the curse of intelligence. Be thankful you don't carry that burden, Jay.

paburrows_rises -re: SHEPARD FAIREY- it's refreshing hearing someone admitting thay made a mistake - in his own words
by Michael Lunney
I wish him well-- MG2 STATEMENT BY SHEPARD FAIREY FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 2012 I accept full responsibility for violating the Court's trust by tampering with evidence during my civil case with the Associated Press, which, after my admitting to engaging in this conduct, led to this criminal case by the Southern District of New York. I accept the Judge's sentence and look forward to finally putting this episode behind me. My wrong-headed actions, born out of a moment of fear and embarrassment, have not only been financially and psychologically costly to myself and my family, but also helped to obscure what I was fighting for in the first place -- the ability of artists everywhere to be inspired and freely create art without reprisal. I entered into litigation with the AP because I believe in Fair Use and I wanted to protect the rights of all artists. The Obama HOPE poster was created and distributed with a belief in what Obama could do for this country and my hope that I could inspire others to thought and action. Making money was never a part of the equation. As funds came in, I used them to create more posters and stickers and make donations to the Obama campaign. Most of the remaining proceeds were given to causes I support and believe in from the ACLU to Feeding America. I believed, and still believe, that I had a very strong Fair Use case, which I could have prevailed. There was no intent to deceive on my part at the outset. When I discovered that the photo I had referenced was indeed the one the AP argued it was and not the one I thought I had used, I was embarrasse and scared to admit they were right and I was wrong even though it would not have had a material bearing on my case. Not amending the record was a big mistake and short-sighted. My actions damaged my ability to proceed effectively with my case and allowed the AP to focus on my credibility. I regret my actions every day and those who know me well know it is out of character. Throughout my artistic career I have seen art as a powerful tool of political speech and social commentary and I try to use my art to stimulate a constructive dialogue. I believe in intellectual property rights and the rights of photographers, but I also believe artists need latitude to create inspired by real world things, just as news organizations need to use exception to copyright in order to report the news. The ability for an artist to creatively and conceptually transform references from reality is essential to their artistic commentary on the realities of the world. If artists find that freedom curtailed, it is not just artists, but all of us, who will lose something critically important. The damage to my own reputation is dwarfed by the regret I feel for clouding the issues of the Fair Use case. I let down artists and advocates for artist's rights by distracting from the core Fair Use discussion with my misdeeds. The decision today will, I hope, mark an ending to what, for me, has been a deeply regrettable chapter. But the larger principles at stake--Fair Use and Artists' Freedom--are still in jeopardy, and I hope we will remain vigilant in depending on the Freedom of Expression.

paburrows_rises - Saw Revolution on Comcast on demand- it's there already- not bad - it held my interest... but...
by Michael Lunney
it did seem like a smarter story trying to burst out from the dumb details that beg questions of verisimilitude But... not bad.... with dumb, visual stuff in it that looks cool but makes no logical sense-- you will see what I mean And Arrow should at least be worth a shot--- oy, bad pun... hope it is at least fun and not just dour soap opera antics masquerading as a comic book story. I'm chomping at the bit for the return of those other shows as well!!! It will give us something positive to talk about...
-
Yeah its kind of sad, people can get wrapped up in a cause or in a goal that they allow that passion to help them to excuse them in making choices that are not good. And its on both sides wiether its for an elected office or in banking or enviornmental organizations or any other cause. Every side has those that place their cause above other people. None of use are perfect. I feel really bad for his family, in the article that I posted it said that the wife tried to talk him out of taking the job, whenever people make these types of chioces its always those around them that suffer the most. Its good and honorable that he's starting to admit his mistakes, hopefully he will be able to rebuild his life and the trust of his family and the trust of his fans. While I don't agree with his politics or cause he's such an incredible talent.
-
...it was ian.
-
I saw it at Comic-Con and really enjoyed it, but then I'm easy to please, I liked The Event, Terra Nova, Alcatraz, and many other massive failures. Its not anywhere near the level of LOST or Fringe or Once Upon A Time, but its fun, its the only thing that I'm really excited about thats new, Arrow I wanted nothing to do with, but I'm starting to warm up to it.
-
Thanks for the thoughts, sir. I'll take them under advisement when I next consider taking the plunge into AICN's Political Cesspool. Cheers!
-
...sorry, I was on a bit of a hot streak earlier. Mcgoo...I tend to agree with you about the two speeches. Clearly the standout speech of both conventions was Clinton's. Although the Jennifer Granholm speech was extraordinary. Probably the best speech at the rnc was Rubio's. Conventional wisdom, I know, but in this case I think conventional wisdom was right. He showed some chops and even gave the hint that he might actually believe in some real conservative principles, as opposed to the Randian tribal locust philosophy that has so radicalized the GOP over the last couple of decades. Mr. Nice Gaius...that really was an extraordinary list. Great powers of observation. You could write him as a character with no problem at all...and I suspect with that basis you could fill out the mileu and physical traits pretty easily.
-
....thats why u dont appreciate them. its cool :) ......now, cue the awesome rebuttal from pooky LOL....
-
W-O-W! ok! if being off the freaking rails counted as *extraordinary*...then i suppose u think howard dean is sane lol.. ahhhh ya....
-
Thanks! In fact, I do consider him to be a character...a kind of gross, comic-like representation of a delusional partisan. He's like a walking conservative meme. As for the physical traits...eeewwwww!
-
All you ever do is whine about how others are cheating when they outsmart you and blatantly ignore opposing arguments that demolish any credibility you could ever possibly hope to achieve. I mean, I get *why* you employ the strategy of conversation that you do... you're hoping that smoke and mirrors will deflect from the fact you're a gutless coward. But I see right through your trickery. Still waiting on you to present a challenge or rebuttal from my article last week. I'm guessing you're going to keep avoiding it.
-
It's why I don't make fun of you more often.

are u EVER correct on anything?
