There were other comments? Did somebody make Ambush Bug angry? Was it me?

I never quite know where I stand with him. Sometimes I really like him, and sometimes he gets on my nerves. If two people were to feel that way, does that make them frenemies? Pretenemies? All I know is, he's one of the biggest pal-holes I know. Just joshin' ya, almighty moderator! Please don't wipe me from existence!

There were comments earlier, but there was some sort of technical issue and the post was taken down. Now it's back up!

as we discussed on the show, does anyone think that the Guardians of the Galaxy movie is a good idea? Is anyone excited about it?

Marvel opening up the cosmos to us is a good thing. Drax is a good thing.

I've just started reading the annihilation story, starting with the Thanos series, and Just now starting the Drax mini that leads into it

But I said that Steve Dillon's art in Avenging Spider-Man SUCKED! The guy seriously phoned it in. For a guy to go from Preacher (with Ass-Face and what not) to his latest stuff (including Ultimate Avengers or some stupid Millar series). I get that Steve Dillon needs to eat, but he's totally phoning it in.

Its a gamble, but I think the benefits far outweigh the possible financial consequences. If it doesn't work, I doubt people will all of a sudden stop caring about Marvel films considering the ridiculous success theyre enjoying with nearly every other movie. If it does work, they have another successful movie/franchise on their hands, one that grows public awareness beyond the household names, and gets people excited about anything with the Marvel name on it. This could get people really digging into long boxes and scanning the shelves at bookstores for things other than just the big names. It might even give independent or "3rd world" publishers a boost, because if they can make Groot or Rocket Raccoon cool beyond our little comic book community, then what can't be cool anymore?! Guardians could be come the Andy Warhol of Marvel movies this way - if a Brillo pad box can be art, what can't be? so maybe I should head to my local shop and browse beyond the Batman and Spider-Man titles for a change! On the other hand, I like being the only one in the room outside of a comic book store that knows who Star Lord is, and I'll miss that...I'm a selfish and jealous man : (

Looking forward to it. Kind of bummed that Bug won't be in it though.

Just finished reading Green Arrow 0, how has GA been so far?
by Poptard_JD
Has Roy shown up? Or Merlyn?

Have they announced the characters in the movie? My comment was deleted but Dillon only draws ugly people which worked in Hellblazer but he can't draw an attractive women for the life of him. Everyone looks Pervy and low life

...here's a complete recap of the story. Spoiler follows. Thanos - 'I love you Death. Be my mate.' Death - 'No. I'm too good for you.' Thanos quests to become a superior being through the Infinity Gems. Thanos - 'I love you Death. Be my mate.' Death - 'No. You're too good for me.' Tear of baffled sadness in beer. The end.

I'm not sure which Guardians will be in the movie, but..
by Poptard_JD
It stands to reason that it'll be the ones currently in Bendis' Avenger's Assemble series, since that one seems to be the one most trying to tune in to the hoopla from the Avengers movie..

...there was a guy I had a huge crush on in high school, and he was a *crazy* fan of Silver Surfer. It was the only comic he would collect (he was also a guitar player who worshiped Joe Satriani - go Google him for fun comic book trivia). Anyway, the only comic he bought that *wasn't* Silver Surfer was The Infinity Gauntlet. Just seeing something else that actually managed to capture his interest made me curious, so I read it, and recall liking it a lot. Recently I've decided to try and find the trade to read again, and stumbled across The Thanos Quest, and Wiki'd it. Gonna give it a flip tomorrow. I can't recall where I saw the confirmation for the Guardians of the Galaxy cast, but Rocket & Co were confirmed.
-
FUCK BEFORE WATCHMEN by the way.
-
Google my name and the Guardians, I've written some stuff that should fill you in on who's gonna be in the movie. As for Thanos Quest, it's one of my favorites of all time, just for the way he outwits some of the most powerful beings in the universe. But yeah, someone should have told Thanos "She's just not that into you." Chris Giarusso did a funny riff on that in his Bullpen Bits/Mini Marvels strip.
-
Because I'm actually interested in what you guys thought about the end of Spaceman and the ongoing (like, REALLY ongoing) BPRD Hell On Earth books.

...Guardians looks as interesting to me as any other Superhero movie. As an indie, underground, alternative reader, where anthropomorphic taking EVERYTHING is much more common, it looks a little MORE interesting than the average Superhero movie.
In regards to what they've done so far, I actually really enjoyed Thor, Captain America and The Avengers (looking forward to all those sequels). Iron Man has been uneven for me, even though I dig RDJ. Just seems like an entire two hours of that character might not be my thing. Haven't loved any of the Hulks yet, but Ruffalo nailed that part, so I hope he gets his own movie.
Bringing that back around to Guardians of the Galaxy, it seems to me that the issue they're going to have is not getting to make five or six movies introducing the characters beforehand, which may make it a more difficult sell. But if they can keep it in the quality range of Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, I'd be willing to check it out.

the new green lantern is gonna be an arab american muslim with a tat who had to steal cars for a living and got accused of being a terrorist huzzah....i can see all the headlines and attacks from the right wing now

People keep saying Ruffalo nailed Banner. I dunno. Banner shouldn't have much personality. He should be a little wormy no-personality guy who you'd never notice.
by Autodidact
Ruffalo was a bit GQ.

Seriously, I would bet a million dollars that ANT-MAN will be a huge load of fun if they do it right. I can hardly understand why I'm so excited for it. I just love INNERSPACE and FANTASTIC VOYAGE... funnily I never sat through a single HONEY I SHRUNK movie, mainly because they're so poorly directed and kiddified.

RUffalo was a bit GQ? Really? I found him really meek and nerdy. Loved him!

...IF they stick to a space-opera type of story and keep the team away from Earth. Now, I won't mind if they try to have some kind of tie-in to the Avengers. Probably THANOS, but a Thor cameo, or Silver Surfer / Galactus (if Marvel finally got them back) would do just fine. Other than that, avoid Green Lantern's mistake and keep them in space. Find a wacky, end-of-the-universe type of plot (Infinity Gems?) and stick with it. Hell, you could even have a scene of the Avengers looking up at the sky, wondering what the hell is going on up there, but nothing else. This could turn out to be a pretty good movie. I've read GotG from their first appearance, and even if their comic book never set the world on fire, they have plenty of storylines to pick from. Wonder if we will see Nova in it?

...was AMAZING as Banner. Ed Norton was good (plays a good geek), Bana was a little stiff, but Ruffalo really hit it out of the park. I would love to see a HULK movie with this guy. Would Marvel dare to bring...MR FIXIT to the big screen? I would LOVE to see that!
