Troma Releases 150 films to YouTube!
Hello ladies and gentlemen, Muldoon here and I'm not going to lie - I feel I'm a little late to the party with this one, but it's too awesome not to spread the word. The badasses over at Techdirt brought my attention the fact that "Uncle Lloyd" and his Troma family have put up an astonishing 150 feature films on their YouTube channel: HERE. Sure, there are folks out there who hate Troma, hate Lloyd, and just... well hate, but for those who dig what the company puts out - now's your time to check out that one title you might not have been able to grab or revisit a favorite. One thing's for sure, Lloyd might seem like a madman (and I think he might just be), but he really, truly does love cinema. I had the good fortune of chatting with Mr. Kaufman way back for POULTRYGEIST. He loves making them, selling them, and empowering you to go out and make your own ("MAKE YOUR OWN DAMN MOVIE") and while I'm not 110% all about every Troma movie, I can truly appreciate what the man's done. He is for the people, by the people and the simple fact that you can go click on over and watch these movies free of charge - Bam, I don't know what more you could ask for.
The man's literally written a book on how anyone with a vision can make their own damn movie. I hear "if only I had XYZ, then I'd be allowed to make my movie" time and time again, but this man is the living embodiment of "Get off your ass and make something." Every saturday I'm able to screen shorts, sometimes with a budget of zip, ziltch, nada, and others with budgets that would blow your mind - but the thing I see all the time is a love of movies and that's exactly what you'll find at Troma's YouTube channel.

Troma stays consistently cool and fresh decade after decade.

-
I should note, they're not ALL Troma movies - as you can tell. Some are in the public domain and simply uploaded to YouTube. Poke around, you'll see quite a bit of Troma flicks.

Met him many times at the Comic-Con. Will talk movies with anybody.

never viewed a Troma film personally that I know of but I will check some out soon. Seems some might be bad but fun to watch bad. I assume exploitation but the fun not harmful kind. This article made me excited, like why am I not making my own damn movie or helping those that do
-
it is a documentary list JJ Abrams and others commenting on low budget type horror movies
-
now I can watch the movie where they got the name
-

The first Toxic Avenger shocked the living fuck out of me as a kid. My friends and I would watch it, and I would make up an excuse to walk out of the room at some scenes! LOL.

You owe it to yourselves to see that movie. Need I warn you that it's low budget and cheesy? Nope: you know that going in.
-

So I love this site and have for years but still hate this "insider shit". Obviously everyone know who troma is, right? Not everyone punishes themselves with b movies just for the sake of it. Id love to know why anyone should care. Still a big fan.

But does Cannibal The Musical have a commentary track version online?
by Lao_Che_Air_Freight
Because it's worth buying the DVD for the commentary alone, definitely one of the top, if not THE top, commentary tracks ever recorded.
-
You gotta love that guy.
-
I don't come here for the stellar writing, but did you really write this line?
-
Why not mention that it was the #3 best selling horror bluray or dvd on amazon.com for two days last week? Where's the love?

On one hand, this franchise is talent-less to the inth degree, but on the other hand, it is bearing fruits and tkaing action -- good, or bad. My, my.

Class of Nuke'em High, The Toxic Avenger.......those two movies are far better than the trash that gets released by major studio's during the summer peak season

May Troma live on forever.

His films consistently degrade Western culture, as every other Jewish filmmaker does, but on an even lower level.

speaking of best commentaries, the award has to go to any with Tom Clancy
by IWasInJuniorHighDickhead
the 'The Sum of all Fears' one is great. He's just a tremendous shitbag who monotones 'that's wrong..that's wrong' about obscure military minutiae whilst the director tries to keep his cool. It's like a real life Alan Partridge episode.
-
Good for Troma.
-
Julie Stiles is a fucking babe with bodacious breast and killer legs.. Time to dust off the old cowboy hat put on them boots and get to jerking!!!!

This shit ain't uncut, especially Rowdy Girls, no wonder the shit is free, fuck!!!!!!!!!!

I do get a little concerned about the expansion of Apple in the market lately. They're twice as ruthless as Microsoft used to be and way more restrictive.
-
My apology for not talk well. Seriously though, I know I'm not the most eloquent of writers - you see how often I post - I just hope that you can look past the bad talkage (intentionally horrible word usage there) and hopefully check out a movie you might not otherwise see based on the links above. Fingers crossed - I'll get better, but sounding unintelligent doesn't bug me as much as I guess it should.
-
as Christopher Walken would say in THE CONTINENTAL.
-
On my top ten list of cinema. Not even joking.
-
Currently watching The Children which I have wanted to see for years! So many awesome hard to find films at the touch of a button. Mind blown. Now if Corman does the same with his back catalogue I would be in heaven. I'm guessing the money they get from the youtube advertising makes it worth it, rather than having the prints just rotting away in a vault somewhere. And uploading the public domain films aswell is fantastic.
-
Great documentary.
-
But Sgt. Kabukiman NYPD is my favorite. Least favorite goes to Dumpster Baby, But I love them anyway.
-
Anyone under 30 is (fortunately) clueless about Troma. Kaufmann never gave a damn about making a good film, he just forked-over a dime to whomever could negotiate a light meter. He has no legacy and is deserving of the anonymity. Troma commerce functioned only as filler, dumped on empty shelves during the bad 'ole VHS era. Yeah, I know, Roger Corman was a also a penny pincher but he was a compassionate filmmaker (most of the time) and never cheated his talent. Kaufmann and "talent" are several million light-years apart.

That's my favorite kind of internet asshole. The kind who blatantly ignores all the other people posting about how cool they think a thing is to be like "Nobody thinks this is cool."
