The Avengers hitting theaters again this weekend and perhaps with a little extra somethin-somethin'
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. I was stoked when the talk of a Director's Cut of The Avengers started circulating and then figured it was all bullshit since nobody brought it up again, even after the movie made a few trabamillionses of dollars.
So, I'm a little sad that this newly announced week long re-release doesn't seem to be a longer cut... however, after seeing that rather iffy original opening maybe it's good that the movie is the movie and any other bits and pieces can be enjoyed as deleted scenes on the DVD.

In order to ensure geek asses returning to theaters so shortly after its initial run, the announcement on Marvel's Facebook page comes with a the tease: "Don't forget to stay through the credits..." Which means I'm going to watch the movie again so I can see somewhere between 0 and 2 minutes of awesome new Marvel U stuff. Damn their eyes, they got me!
New stinger? Iron Man 3 tease? A glimpse of Guardians production art? Edgar's Ant Man? Thor 2? Something not even on our radar? Damn it, Marvel!
Well, I'll be going again at any rate. And I'll buy the Blu-Ray 3 weeks later. I'm such a sucker...

Nope. Didn't pay money for this first time around. Won't be doing it this time either.

may as well make it three times. I stayed the first time saw first scene after credits and left. Went back a second time after i realised it had two scenes after the credits, so yeah guess im going again.

We're all fools for paying to see a thoroughly enjoyable and well-made movie. We're such suckers!

This smells like a Lucas/Jackson type of "Now available with ten extra seconds so buy the dvd again!" kind of thing
by Doctor_Nefario
All in the name of greed.
-
...so you can see the same shit you saw the first time around. Just release it on Blu-Ray and let me watch it at home, I hate watching movies at the theater nowadays.
-
Yes you are. You're the fools who don't care about tension, plot structure, character development, sense of wonder and awe not to mention urgency, anymore. Not me. I don't pay for event movies (or any movies for that matter) anymore. Maybe I will consider seeing Avatar 2 in the theater... That's about it. And it's not because Avatar is an unbridled masterpiece either -- but damn, it does have heart. Avengers is more about attitude, about self-important/self-indulgence. It's a cocky high school jock with a small penis. And if you need more, read my posts on Avengers, in the "Avengers Alternate Opening Scene" talkback. It's to your right at the top. Read and learn some basics of film making. I am not going to repeat myself.
-
That still looks a bit cartoonish, with the Herman Cain smile, but look on youtube for a video of a bunch of Thanos images (played to Death Metal) that show some kickass pics of the Mad Titan fucking shit up. I think when he finally makes his main appearance on the big screen, pants will be shat.
-
The original opening was great. Much better than the bland opening in the theatrical version.<p> I'd pay just to go see it again in cinemas with the original opening.

Isn't it grea we have Emperor around to tell us how awful movies he hasn't even seen are? What WOULD we do without that crucial insight?
by R Howell
Why don't you tell us how bad The Hobbit is, or Man of Steel?
-
Even though they just say through the awesomeness that is Avengers. Maybe their just trying to reach the number two spot for biggest box office. Either way this could only hurt the DVD release. I won't be as syked to buy it if I had just seen it 3 weeks prior.

but months later, and with the impending Blu-Ray release right around the corner, I'm more excited to sit down in the comfort of my own home to watch this, I mean I didn't invest in a nice big HD TV for nothing, right? Avengers had the better script but Whedon should take lessons from Nolan next time in direction.

Both are about equal in the flawed masterpiece department.

Good for you. You have an opinion. Too bad you come off as a smarmy asshole. As for Avatar having heart... Well I guess you loved Pochahontas and Fern Gully so much that you had to see them again because that is what Avatar is. But, I will just go back to enjoying that movie called the Avengers because in your mind we Avengers fans are probably beneath you.
-
what a tormented life you must leave being so outraged all the time...... One day you are gonna grow up(I hope) and look back at these times and be terribly embarrassed at your assholiness.... If you think that ALL films have to fulfill the same goals, then you simply don't understand the medium at all. here's a crash course on how to enjoy movies you troglodyte. Take what the movie gives you: It's unwise to expect the same things from X:the Unknown and The Godfather, they were made for different reasons, but if they accomplish what they set out to do (entertain me) then ,IMO, they are both good movies. (just at varying levels of entertainment) Don't judge a film based on what you WANTED to see but what you actually saw: Biggest fanboy mistake made IMO. so many of us film geeks go into movies with it already written and filmed in our minds and if the movie we actually get doesn't match THAT film, we get our panties in a wad and bitch. When, in reality, you can only judge a piece of art by what it gives you. If you bring along your own baggage, you aren't giving it a fair shake. Finally, allow the film to take you on it's journey: If you sit there smug and self righteous waiting at the edge of your seat to spot the flaws, continuity errors or plot holes, you aren't participating in the film at all. You haven't let the film take you on the trip. You've just become an insufferable grump who needs to lighten the fuck up.

...where I can hit pause and take a leak. Besides, I'm betting the new after-credits sequence is just an Iron Man 3 teaser.

A really stupid and pointless 're-release'
by Turd_Is_Floating_Underneath_The_Gravy
The Avengers is still playing in some theaters and the DVD/ Blu release is only a few weeks away. This isn't going to make any extra money. Why would it? Who is going to sit through credits just to watch two minutes of crap at the end? A three hour director's cut re-release might have had some merit if the rumors were true, but this? Talk about squeezing blood out of a turnip.
-
You loved The Avengers? Great. But perhaps instead of getting angry that people didn't, perhaps you'd try some of what Captain America is on - namely tolerance of people and ideas that differ from his.

Glad I get another shot to see it in Theaters. You might be surprised how kids ruin your chances to go see movies.
-
Or Tootsie?
-
I actually went and read what you wrote, emperor, and I mostly agree with you about the whole sense of loss thing. The only indication we get that civilians actually died is at the very end, in the news footage montage, we see a lot of quick shots of people at memorials lighting candles and whatnot. So while you're wrong that the movie seems to imply that no civilians die, it does go out of its way to hide their deaths onscreen. I remember in Transformers 3 you saw civilians getting vaporized left and right, and that was also a PG-13 event movie. Oh, but saying Revenge of the Sith had more emotional resonance or whatever it was you said? That's debatable. Also, you're an asshole.
-
What lessons in direction should Whedon take from Nolan? How NOT to shoot action scenes? I will say this about The Avengers - the action scenes were clean and well staged / edited. Whedon has even admitted in interviews that he studied James Cameron's action style, emphasizing awareness of location and coherency, so it's no surprise that the action scenes in The Avengers were pretty good. TDKR was the usual Nolan incomprehensible mess in this particular department.

You sir are3 an unabashed elitist fool. Movies need to be fun and enjoyable sometimes. Not every film has to have a message. Speaking of messages. Avatar was more of a film about ecology than anything. It was a misguided attempt at making us more aware of the world we live in and the consequences of bad steward ship of that world. I saw it once hated it and don't plan to see #2. Then again I actually do see a movie before I judge it. I know that may sound silly to you but that's how I am..

Theft and piracy and waiting for movies on TV is fine and dandy but when you openly admit you refuse to pay for ANY movie, that's when you lose any right to criticize. Film is an art form - but one that costs money. We are consumers of art but consumers nonetheless. We vote with our dollar and if you freely say, "i refuse to pay for movies," then you've lost your vote. Not to mention saying, "I'm going to pay for Avatar 2 because Avatar had so much damn heart" isn't doing you any favors.

turd_is_floating_underneath_the_gravy -- action incomprehensibility
by lv_426
The other night I was channel surfing and came upon The Matrix. It's been a while since I watched it, but damn do those action scenes just fuckin' work by being not only clearly staged from a geographical sense, but because the camera stays level and either static or glides very smoothly when it does move. No skakey-cam or any of the stuff that is all the rage with action flicks these days (except maybe someone like Zack Snyder using the extreme slo-mo style in some of his action). As for Arnold appearing in any Marvel flicks... CABLE?

Two very different films. Starship Troopers is awesome though. Avengers might be more in line with what we normally want out of a fun big budget action/superhero film, but Starship Troopers is truly one of a kind. As in the crazy but awesome kind of thing that Paul Verhoeven does. Although, Starship Troopers is pretty much one of those films you either love or hate. If you are one that falls on the side of hating Starship Troopers, then I could see why you'd think comparing it against Avengers seems like blasphemy and madness.

-
I've watched it 3 or 4 more times from downloading the film, but if I hadn't done that, i would probably go see it at the theater again. Nothing beats a big screen presentation. People always say they want re-releases in the theater and this is just the same thing, just with a very short amount of time after the initial release. And it's probably been playing the whole time..in some dollar theaters recently, but you get my point.
-
I did go and see it again, and whilst there were the "gosh wow" moments, I still sat there thinking that other points could've been better implemented. And if we have to pick pointers out here (spoiler alert!!): -The whole build-up when they backed-off from Banner, trying to keep their distance for fear of him going berzerk - I really did feel that it was going to be like John Carpenters' The Thing, where we were going to have something batshit insane explode in front of us, when we least expected it, and make the audience jump in shock - no, it went on, and thus went into what it did. Okay, it was alright, but it could've been better done. -The whole thing with Tony Stark, and the technology debate, leading into a tense 'beating of chests' - a really good idea, given Stark, and surprizingly Rogers, and whereas it could've gone into some raging dialogue, it sort've piffled around. Please don't take offence at me, I'm not trying to make people angry, I'm stating MY case!! At least I have a reason right?!! Fact is, I will be buying it on BLU (my daughter has seen it a couple of times as well, and wants to see it again!!), and yes it was a fun knockabout, and a decent BANG to a saga that has been going on since 2008 (and looks like it'll be carrying on for a fair while, thank goodness!!) but its not perfect by any means.

You've all read WAY too far into this. The announcement said to see it again and remember to stay through the credits, and then even included a pic of Thanos. That's ALL this is. Theaters got the flick yesterday and the day before. There is NOTHING new on it.
-
Been wanting to see it again, and extra time on my paws this weekend. oh maybe maybe baby.
-
Don't get me wrong, I love Starship Troopers. The thing about Emperor is, he thinks all films should have the same kind of tension that was in that movie. He wants to see the same kind of sexual tension, deaths and destruction on that same level. Granted, I will admit there could have been a a higher artistic vision in this film, more drama, but in a commercial film like this that kind of sensibility takes a back seat. And it's not like Whedon didn't want to elevate it to that level. Dropping the Cap set up scene was a mistake, IMHO. Like you say, different films. Apples and Oranges. PG 13 and R ratings. Like I pointed out in a talkback earlier this week on the Cobie Summers deleted scene, there's no way Marvel is going to go that route (unless it's a Marvel Knights movie). Avengers is fun and it's goal is to appeal to the masses, not film school, pseudo-intellectuals like Emp.

chuck_chuckwalla -- perhaps it is best to re-watch all the other Marvel films (Iron Man, Cap' America, Incredible Hulk, Thor) before seeing Avengers?
by lv_426
Just think of The Avengers almost like one would think of Return of the Jedi or The Matrix Revolutions. More of a big climax to a bunch of build-up, which in this case isn't so much a normal movie trilogy, but a bunch of movies related by the fact they are part of SHIELD and had Sam Jackson bringing them all into the fold. I guess one could say the same rules that apply to most stand-alone films and trilogies/franchises don't really apply to The Avengers. At least not if one wants to get the most out of what Avengers was trying to do. Or just watch the other Avengers movie first, then go see Marvel's The Avengers. You know, that one based on the British Avengers, starring Ralph Fiennes and Uma Thurman. Oh, and Connery as the villain who holds supervillain board meetings in colorful cartoony bear suits.

You're kidding, right? AVENGERS is to most Nolan films as a Lamborghini is to the Model T Ford. Taintolay - That AVENGERS is far superior to those Batman movies is not a fact. It's an opinion. One I happen to share, yes, but an opinion nonetheless.
-
i would have paid to see the extended cut on screen with a new cut in scene of ant man fighting in the background on the streets unannounced to the avengers. would have been fucking box office gold i tell you. would have also made all those folks who downloaded the rips go and see it on the big screen, because it's that kind of big screen experience.
-
he didn't even see the movie. Everyone knows Avengers is a summer comic book have fun take the kids or be nostalgic about your childhood type of popcorn action movie. Having said that it is very well made and rises above the typical dumb blockbuster hollywood movie. I can understand Avengers not being your type of movie and not liking it, or having fanboy nitpicks but to watch a blurry bootleg and try to get an emotional response out of us talkbackers by saying the movie is shit makes you a shit head. Look Emperor the movie just isn't for you go masterbate to Starship Troopers. Fine you didn't like it, but you missed out on over 2 hours of pure escapism fun, the closest thing to a comic book translated on screen yet. Marvel pulled it off! All B and C level characters turned into the 3rd highest grossing movie ever. Even if you didn't like the movie the thing is an accomplishment the likes of other studios can't touch with higher profile A level characters. Way Too many words!

lv_426, yes, the action scenes in The Matrix were great
by Turd_Is_Floating_Underneath_The_Gravy
Even in the two sequels, which weren't so good as overall movies, the action sequences - especially the highway chase and the assault on Zion - were the highlights. I think The Matrix was one of the last major blockbusters before the regrettable shaky cam/ MTV-edited crap became commonplace. Maybe the Wachowskis should helm Justice League? BTW, Starship Troopers is every bit as good as The Avengers, and certainly far more daring / subversive. Anyone claiming that ST is laughable compared to The Avengers is an idiot. That Emperor guy may have talked some nonsense, but there's nothing nonsensical or controversial about his championing of ST.

by Tell_Your_Mom_I_Said_Hi
You can have positive opinions on more than one movie (and their director)....ahem... TDK is quite possibly the best non-comicbook comic book-based movie. Avengers is probably the best representation of the comics I grew up with (and have come to get back to now that I'm older with Marvel's modern run of comics). However, and I'm sorry to the Nolanist (I still am a Nolan-worshipper, despite this criticism), but TDKR is the biggest disappointment this year. I was almost angry at Nolan for pulling the <spoiler> becomes <spoiler-fuck> in the end. I felt insulted by that low blow (especially when I've come to expect to be treated as an intelligent moviegoer from all of his other films).

For some reason, some of you retarded mongoloids think I haven't seen Avengers. Yes, I have. I wrote a review on it. I just didn't PAY to see it. You may do with that information as you wish. You sound like a mentally handicapped individual who attended a film theory class at your local learning annex. You’re only take-way from the experience seems to be the importance of building tension within a scene. I can hear you now as you watch your pirated copy of The Avengers and mumble to yourself “You gotta have tension. Man, there's NO TENSION”. Were you actually hoping to find REAL tension in a big budget summer film about super heroes? I can understand your point. A film that depicts this level of devastation should not allow everyone to come out unscathed. This is why Whedon decided to kill off Agent Coulson. Coulson was a well liked character who has been essential link in all of the Marvel films. His death scene didn't work for you but there were a lot of people affected by his passing. Of course Whedon could have just increased the threat level by killing more civilians (your idea) or making the enemy “stronger”. But how would killing a bunch of nameless characters increase tension (especially to someone who didn’t care if one of the central characters died)? You must admit that it's very difficult for any filmmaker to create a legitimate treat to any of the lead characters when they all belong to ongoing franchise. Do you think that owners of the intellectual properties would say “go ahead, kill off a few of the heroes. It will make a better film”? I don't think that The Avengers is “THE BEST MOVIE EVA” but I enjoyed it for what it was...a light weight summer flick. I typically watch films that provoke more of an analytical discussion yet I still felt the Avengers to be well made and fun. It's okay to occasionally watch a film just for the sheer enjoyment of it. That doesn't make me “stupid” or (insert any other insult you tossed out). It just shows that I can appreciate a full spectrum of entertainment. Look, I liked Starship Troopers too. I thought that it was a great political/sociological satire and I found it to be surprisingly funny. As for tension, it has absolutely none. It's a satirical cartoon with intentionally bland and forgettable characters. It does have cool FX though...
-
He'll do press-ups and chin-ups Do the snatch, clean, and jerk He thinks dynamic tension Must be hard work
-
I like ST too but like you said, it's a satire and for me, I couldn't take any of it seriously.
-
The movie's tension was soo thick you could slice it. When they find that general pissing his pants hiding in a freezer and he jumps out, oooh tense!!
-
I'm there !

And I'd also like to know why we're not getting the same extras as the U.S. They really need to stop doing that shit. It's not fair.
by Mr. Pricklepants
Especially considering the fact that the international market is becoming more and more important year after year. Want to make a billion worldwide? Well, you need the rest of the world to make that happen. I mean, they keep making those Ice Age movies because they're so successful in the rest of the world. Yeah, we're getting The Avengers on Blu-ray/DVD about a month earlier than the U.S. But that's no reason to go skimpy on the extras. We want that Joss Whedon audio commentary too. And the shawarma post-credits scene of course (that's probably missing as well).

I really enjoyed Avengers. It had great moments and was full of zest. However, it wasn't perfect. <p> I feel like the movie really isn't about anything. It needs a theme to hang it's hat on. What is it about? It doesn't need to be a heavy-handed or heady idea. Just something. Is it about hope? Faith? Centering it around an idea would make a stronger story. <p> Loki needed better motivation. I really love how Loki, in Thor's film, was actually trying to do what he thought was the right thing. His true motivations made sense are were interesting. In Avengers, he's just kinda evil. A hurt and angry evil. I feel his plan could have been more duplicitous or grand in its intricacies. For instance, he could have been turning the public against the Avengers. Or causing despair around the globe. Which would lead into an idea of the public needing to believe in someone, hence the Avengers forming. <p> Loki's flashback to meeting the Other could have been more interesting. He could have been more defiant, but energy blasts from Thanos (in shadow on the stairs) put him in his place. We would be shown that there is a greater threat than Loki manipulating him. And Loki is being coerced into doing this force's (Thanos) bidding. Which could have added a bit of layering, and maybe even sympathy, to Loki's story. <p> Some of the Chitauri could have come to earth earlier and been under Loki's control. They could have been causing trouble even though there's only a handful. Therefore, when a potential army is coming out of the wormhole, the threat level would have been magnified. <P> As is, it's a fun movie. It could have just had a tighter and more focused story that had something to say. Hopefully, its sequels are a bit more polished.

I liked Avengers, DKR, and I thought Spider-man was not terrible but not good
by Transhuman
I think I might try to find a way to see Avengers one more time, because I really enjoy it and I was looking to see it one more time in theaters. I saw Dark Knight Rises a bunch. I really was happy with it. I wish all could know what it feels like to enjoy all of the superhero movies we're getting because I remember when there wasn't shit. When I was growing up there was Christopher Reeve's Superman movies and Tim Burton's Batmans, followed up with Schumacher's Batmans. I'm really happy with how things have developed over the past decade or so. I'm thankful for X-Men for opening the gates again for superheroes, and Spider-man for blasting the door open. I'm thankful for Christopher Nolan bringing the Batman to the screen that most resembles the actual character and using classic story lines from the comics and graphic novels to create a great film series. I was really impressed with how Marvel built individual characters through the years in solo films and brought them all together for one hell of a ride. Yeah, I thought Daredevil was weak, and I was disappointed with Superman Returns, Green Lantern was silly, Ang Lee's Hulk was a little boring, and there is an unwatchable part of Spider-man 3. But sweet lord folks, I'll take all of it any day over Batman & Robin. Or the Captain America movie from the 80's that you can watch on youtube. We're headed in the right direction. Learn how to enjoy the successes and not bitch about shit so much. And Superman 3 IS overrated. "Both keys....at the SAME TIME?!?!?"
-
Definitely not overrated. All I'm saying people is I remember when I was so desperate for some live-action superhero movies that I was watching shit like Meteor Man and Blankman. We've got it good.
-
The Australian Blu has everything except the commentary. I am thinking they will re-release soon with much more content. The deleted / extended scenes are nothing special, although I did enjoy the Captain America stuff. I expected to see him visit his girlfriend as an old woman but it wasn't there. The gag reel is fun. The brunette chick who works on the hovercraft thingy takes the cake. She puts on the most hammy overacted responce to hearing of the death of Carlson. I was pissing myself laughing at her as she really went for it and has surprising comic timing.
-
i dont care how great i find it, they hit dvd/blu so fast these days i can wait. i saw this one once back in may or june and thats enough, i can wait another few weeks.

@cousinlarryappleton, Mark Ruffalo's contract with Marvel is for six films. It's likely that it's for all three Avengers films, a cameo in Iron Man 3, and one or two Hulk films. Maybe even one Hulk Film, and cameos in some other films. Either way, he's signed for five more so he will be Banner.

by Nik
...whether he wants to or not, I guess he has no choice due to contractual obligations. But I did enjoy him tremendously as Banner, probably the best of the recent Hulk cinematic lot.
-
The contracts don't mean anything, they're just there to make all of us (the studio included) feel safe and secure - Norton had a contract for 2 (or maybe 3?) movies, but when discussions regarding the series' direction broke down with Norton, they either gave him the boot, or he bought off the rest of his contract or something. But yeah, just because Ruffalo is signed doesn't mean he'll necessarily be there, unfortunately.
-
If not Ruffalo, then I throw my support for someone like Paul Rudd...call me crazy but I think he would make a decent Banner
-
You didn't like the movie? Cool. Good for you. What the fuck are you doing in this talkback in the first place? Dumbass.

A perfect example of the "Summer Movie". It has everything you could possibly want from an event flick. Joss Whedon did a remarkable job with the script. You can see how much of an ardent fan he is with his handling of the material. I thought Ruffalo made a confident Bruce Banner; even though Bana and Norton did a stellar job also. Now, if Whedon could only be involved in everyone of the subsequent Marvel features... Will be interesting to see how the dude goes from "The Avengers" to Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing"...The guys a bloody enigma.
-
:-/ You definitely are a mongoloid. Hey, I know this semi-mong in Switzerland, and I used to have the funnest time asking him his times tables... Like... I would sit next to him, and suddenly go "5 times 3!!" And he would answer: "15!" And I would yell "fucking genius" into his face, and he would giggle with glee for about a minute. I would then ask him "7 times 2" And he would answer "14!!!" And I'd say "Jesus Christ, there's no way I can trick you, is there!?" And he continued to giggle for a few minutes. This went on for about an hour... Gosh, I miss those days. After that, I used to talk about sex with him, and he used to giggle that he want to have sex and lick a woman's pussy. I used to play with his ears and sometimes pretend to be interested in him sexually... Those were the days, milla... Those were the days. Can't wait to see him soon.

Thano's looks almost dead on perfect for how he is depicted in the comics. Maybe a bit to "video game/cgi"ish in the one brief scene. But the skin color, the eyes, the size, the outfit. They are all sufficiently in line with the source material. Not quite exact, but close enough to do a good job of comunicating the overall look and feel.

This clown has a strange obsession with me, even if I am not bothering to address him... You know how you're talking to an individual, let's say John, and there is some monkey called Adam lurking around, who isn't being spoken to, yet always interrupts and tries to get a word in...? Well, that monkey is chuck... Chuck -- I know you're craving attention (it's obvious in your behavior of speaking without being spoken to), so how about you find some friends that are on your modest level of consciousness, so that you can feel a part of a community you so desperately wish for? Give it a try...Walk up to some mildly retarded individuals in a sheltered workshop, and ask them if you could join in... They will gladly pass you the desk-attached hammer and blunt nails, for you to hit them really hard on the broad wooden planks safely laid out before you (so that you don't injure yourself)... Trust me Chucky, this will be a new dawn in your dull and isolated life of attention-craving... You hit those nails in the sheltered workshop! Go and sow a little woolly jumper and sell it to a charity for 5 dollars. You'll feel both important and needed. Let us know how you go...

LOL... When did I ever say it's a child? When did I ever say he suffers from Down's Syndrome? The only thing I ever stated is, that he is male, he's in Switzerland, and that he is a "semi-mong"... This means, he has mild retardation, so his IQ is slightly (perhaps 10 points) higher than that of a genuine mong. I used to actually make jokes to him about the "sheltered workshop" being the final solution for him. He became outraged, and said "NO NO NO NO!!! I AM NORMAL!! I AM NORMAL!!! I AM NORMAL!!!" Which of course was met with "...But of course you are..." followed by a pat on the back, and perhaps a little flick of his ears and maybe an ambiguously sexual advance toward his thighs... He usually started to giggle or shake his body a little to avoid my advances... LOL... What a wonderful soul. Now, I wish to illustrate that this is a basic example, of why most humans cannot even think in the most basic, rudimentary of ways. They cannot even recall basic information. They actually fabricate (confabulate) information because their mental equipment is not sufficiently advanced to maintain control over informational energies being distributed in the brain. You're not the only one in this talkback. Many individuals assumed I had not seen the Avengers, despite there not being even a shred or a hint of such a declaration from my part. Thank you, wonderful and deeply limited souls, for continuing my research rather rapidly into the mind and (dis)abilities of the average human. You present a remarkable argument for the case that 'Democracy' must be vanquished. With voters like you, with mild mental retardation, how could we hope to elect even a mildly competent leader? I am dropping plants and seeds left, right, and center, for all you silly, infirmed chimps to gobble up, and you're feeding me with all the research I need to last a life time. I kindly thank you. You idiots are so dumb, you fail to recognize that the vast majority of mankind (the 'average' individual) is roughly at your level. You cannot even interpret/process basic information. You jump to conclusions. You judge without facts to support your judgment. Hey, I have plenty of facts to support my case that you're all a bunch of dumb cunts. I don't even have to conduct private AICN research. All I need is to look at society. You built this society, you fucking mules. You continue to SUPPORT this social structure. All of you participate within these sick, depraved, vile institutions that have been set up for your retarded monkey asses. Don't get angry at me (although it doesn't bother me if you do). Get angry at yourselves for being nothing but carbon-based wastage. Wage-slaves moving from one slave-shop to the other. You're all genetic garbage. You think you have something figured out, because some authority figure has laid it out before you. You think you understand how the scientific method works, because you've been fed some bullshit about "falsifiability and testable results, etc" by the individuals who control you by the scrotum. You repeat what has been fed to you in the media, without even bothering to ask how the entire 'filtration/processing/manufacturing' business of the media works. You cling on to your worthless heroes (I am sure some of you love Chomsky and value yourselves as intellectually competent if you look upon him with bright, cheering eyes), yet none of you have the ability to bother even finding the flaws and disinformation strewn throughout his writings. I am making an example here. It can be anybody. The bottom line is, you're all here to be led and manipulated, and when the entire machine collapses on your spastic heads, you look to the sky and ask for a savior (like you did when that smiling Nigger with worthless promises of "hope" and "change" was elected into office not too long ago)... Here's scientific evidence that you're all fucking retarded: THE FACT THAT IN THIS DAY AND AGE SOMEBODY CAN GET AWAY WITH THAT BULLSHIT AND STILL BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY, PROVES THE LEVEL YOU'RE AT. He's your leader, dumbasses. Be proud. You're responsible for him. Mongs. And when the Nigger (or Jew, or Honkey, whatever) fails to perform (when was the last time one of them performed?), you blame it on something conjured from your pathetically under-stimulated (or perhaps overstimulated?) brains. As George Carlin said: Garbage in and Garbage out. I do hope you understand that he was referring to every single one of you, as the garbage. No wonder it's so easy to manipulate and deceive the lot of you (those who have power to pump your bird brains full of garbage). You're helplessly defenseless against it. I'm doing you a favor by writing this. And you're doing yourselves a favor by reading it and taking it seriously. My heart cannot bleed for you pipsqueaks forever.

If you're making a reference to the rigged elections, then Bravo! Some ounce of a neuron discovered in your brain. But why don't you go further? Why don't you ask whether or not politics is actually relevant? Ask yourself this. Please. Don't take my word for it. What and who are Politicians? They are lawyers (specialists in manipulating information -- they need to, in order to be good lawyers!), they're economists (pseudo-science), political scientists (pseudo-science), businessmen (capitalists), religious fanatics (no further comment). What assessment process have they undergone to demonstrate they can think logically, critically assess and process information and carry it out for the betterment of the population? Have they undergone an IQ test? Have they undergone an advanced mathematics examination to prove they are critical analysts? Have they studied the history and development of ideas? Answer is of course No. When was the last time you asked this question? If you did, then that's a good start. But it's only a start. What, for example, does Mitt Romney have (besides a lot of money and a Republican membership card), that makes him particularly competent/suitable to lead a society? Why is money even relevant? Shouldn't the system be set-up to elect the best possible individual? These are all "starting" questions. The real question is: Do we need politics? All of you apes think these questions must have already been answered, and thus, what we have today, is the result of these questions having been asked in the past already. You're only fractionally correct. The questions have been asked, and the solutions have been put in place for whom it is suitable -- and this "whom" is always a miniscule minority. Even less than 1 percent. So, you donkeys probably thought "today's institutions are the best we can do with what is known and available today" -- and herein lies your stupidity. This is why you fools need to go back to basics and learn how to even formulate relevant (rather than irrelevant questions, such as "is this clown a better leader than that other dope?") Go on. Start firing those severely under-utilized neurons. Give it a go.
-
Only a special individual like yourself knows what's truly going on in this God forsaken world of ours. We need someone with your intellectual prowess to guide humanity into a brighter and more enlightened future. But please, don't get any ideas of brining in young, mildly-retarded kids to be your first lady. That won't sit well with Democrats or Republicans alike.
-
I would bother seeing this thing again is if there was a director's cut that had ... what do they call that thing ... a story? Finally caught this lemon - I'm sorry, it was a lemon - on DVD this week, the only cinema near me was only showing it in 3D during the cinematic release - fuck that. Sure, there were some fun bits in it; Hulk's Loki-ragdoll comes to mind, but the film just felt like a big collection of barely connected set pieces that in no way paid off what had been building up during the two Iron Man flicks, Thor and Captain America. If anything, it kinda felt like it should have been called Iron Man 3 - Avengers (some) Assemble(y required).
-
Same post credit stuff however there is a few seconds of extra footage... SPOILER ALERT! In the newscast video montage at the end (the one where Stan Lee appears) both Hugh Jackman and Andrew Garfield appear briefly talking about how the Avengers could use some more help.

Once again, you are another dummy, who is confabulating fancy stories out of his asshole. Never did I state that. I stated that Revenge of the Sith had more emotional depth than Avengers; and this is a fact -- not an opinion. But you DID confess to him being around 60. So, you were coming on to a 60 year old Down's Syndrome man, just for kicks. A mentally disabled senior citizen from Switzerland. Yeah, I'm the dumb cunt here. Yup, that's me. You just keep digging a bigger hole for yourself, asshole. Anytime you act up in another talkback, I'm cutting and pasting this URL in to give other talkbackers the proper context of who their dealing with. Checkmate, bitch.
-
Please do. I will happily admit to the entire world, that I enjoy making a grown man (disabled or not) laugh. And he has never had it funnier than when he hangs around me (or just talks to me on the phone). See, what you're missing is: I make him laugh. Whether or not you look at it as a form of abuse, the bottom line is, he is too disabled to actually infer that kind of conclusion. So, in other words, it's a win-win situation. See, if I were actually assaulting him or molesting him, perhaps you might have a point. You don't, however. I never stated that I made a sexual advance. I stated that I pretended to be interested in him sexually. Touching his thighs is not really sexual. I didn't touch his genitals or in any other way cross any reasonable boundaries. I laughed my heart out, and so did he. There were times where he had laughing fits that lasted for over an hour. Nobody has made that individual laugh and be happy as much as I have. You may look at it as me insulting him. But he doesn't, and isn't that what counts? People like you are classic-case pseudo-do-gooders. You're the type of people who are "pro-life/anti-abortion/anti-woman" wannabe do-gooders. I love insulting and making fun of patsies like you. You're the first in line, when you in your high and mighty charriot feel as if you're going to "save" somebody or "uphold" some cause. Once again, you've fallen into another trap of mine. I manipulate research-mice like you, as I manipulate the bacteria inside my anus, every time I scratch it. You're the type of person who sees disasters everywhere but yourself. Everything is wrong with the world, except for yourself. And don't come back to me and say "no, emperor, you're the one abusing everybody..." Because that just further underlines my point of you trying to turn it around to be about me. It's about the mob of society, and you belong to that mob. I simply sit here, drink my coffee, occasionally rub my penis, work on my research, download movies/documentaries/music, all the while I shit on your dumb-ass AND happen to gather research data on the general state of the human condition. You've basically fallen into every single trap of mine, repeatedly proving what a hopelessly puny little dunce that you are. And it's not just you. It's basically everybody else (here and elsewhere). And this, all the while I'm sitting here and laughing out loud. You know what the big joke is? You're the semi-mongs. I'm laughing at you, and you're my amusement. The difference between you and the guy in Switzerland is, he used to laugh with me. None of you are laughing, because you take yourselves more seriously than he does. Modern-day society was built by people like you, chuck. I mean, built as in, upheld. It's not like you had the intellect to plan it. You simply uphold it and support its continued sustenance. Please, keep the stupidity flowing. You're providing much more than mere amusement to me... Take a good, long, hard look at yourself, Chucky. Because you basically represent the majority of the assclowns breathing in and out every single day. How does this make you feel? Let me answer: Not too bad, because you're too primitive to actually gather what this implies. You're useless and content with being useless. And you're the majority.

by migmog
Well we got this core theme of The Emperor's need for STRUCTURE. He begins to take on his classic persona with the first time we see him take apart a film which other posters are delirious with joy about. we see him develop multiple personalities to defend his point of view from the hordes of geeks now set on his destruction. there will be a prominent female character who in her rejection of him, give us the complete Unsexed character that we will see by the end of the film. We hope to have some raw footage for Comic Con 2013 with a trailer tagging on the end of Man of Steel.

There are many quality aspects about TDKR but the poor depiction of the Batman character throughout the trilogy has been laughably overlooked by those who have been blinded by the brilliance elsewhere. The pursuit of Realism has meant unnecessary sacrifice in authenticity Here is an example: Bane in comics a venom fuelled master villain with a formidable intellect In TDKR he is reduced to a muffled mess of a character with a choppy back story. The lack of 'Venom' meant a missed opportunity to explore the 'peak human'/'enhanced human' dichotomy. Particularly poignant in an Olympic Year The failure imho of the TDKR is that there was an opportunity to join the dots between Nolan's vision from the first 2 films with key elements of Batman cannon from comics and Batman TAS does that not present the type of high -minded concept we should expect from a film maker of Nolan's quality? This would have given the trilogy at large a richer context. Many who have lauded the other films would have been right to call it a masterpiece. The journey would have been epically rewatchable rather than mostly so The Avengers triumph is in it's authenticity there are key moments in the film where each character does something that can be considered 'signature' It does not pretend to have anything high minded to say but it's simplicity is it's genius. It is immensely re watchable flaws and all I leave you with this point- The Avengers has begun in such a way it can grow sprouting roots in many directions. Nolan selfishly 'killed' Batman when as I pointed out earlier the strength of his trilogy could have provided context to further continuity for the next creative team. This was not necessary in terms of plot and was not consistent with the character's core ideals, As a start point the avengers can raise the bar where as stupidly now batman has to 'Begin Again' How anyone can think that is ok is beyond me. Avengers is a Triumph of Simplicity whereas TDKR proves to be a classic example how a sprinkle of WB/DC micromanagement could ave turned a good film into an epic masterpiece and quite easily too

Yes, The Avengers release may be worth noting, but what does it have to do with the price of cheese? What values is this teaching our children? We should take out the Black book and reread chapter 17. We should look up at the night sky and look once again at the brightest star. Let us make a new affirmation; we shall not pass from this road before the intersection. We shall not leave the highway before we see the sign. You all know what you have to do. It is written in the sands of time and space. It has been written. It will be written...

I am curious, little dunce, where did I get my ass kicked? Do you mean the part where people started making up stories about me, and based on those made-up stories, they were 'attacking' me? The thing is, I abused everybody based on facts. Others have come here and fantasized about me and my life, and then attacked that particular fantasy. It's called strawman arguments. "Emperor is a 200 point middle-aged baldy, who lives with his mother and is still a virgin...HAHAHAHAHA" Even if that were true, how does it relate to anything that I have actually written? And it was a fine film. But I have to be honest... if I had to go back and watch either it or Avengers, I would pick Avengers. The era of the Dark Superhero, having passed from its 70s-80s print phase through its 90s film phase, seems to have peaked cinematically with Nolan's trilogy. As for DC, hopefully they're aware that the pendulum has swung back to the cosmic side and they can find their cinematic groove in that context. Some kind of seamless integration between the realistic and super-fantastic elements. But, not giving a shit about the off-screen and off-page clash between comic universes, I am just eating up the good candy that Marvel is dishing out, and I'll take more any time.

With the noted exception of TDKR, it's a sad time for DC Fanbois.
by Stalkeye
Marvel is shitkicking their asses and they WB/DC had more than enough time and opportunity to make a Justice League Movie. (George Miller ring a bell?) But noooooo they decided to go with some boring pretentious rehash of the classic 1978 Movie known as Superman and just as bad, a lame gamble on what's considered a 2nd tier character with bad casting, worst story/plot and a shitty antagonist. "In Blackest night" indeed, ya Morons. Sure it was a long road as far as The Avengers are concerned, but the gamble more than paid off partly due to the success of the previous films such as Ironman,Captain America,Thor and The Incredible Hulk that led to this project while entertaining most of us along the way. Brilliant move, guys! BTW The next DC Film wont be slated till 2015. To quote MK's Shao Khan (also owned by WB/DC): "It's official, You suck"!! Well, at least DC has the better Animation Series.
-
Maybe at AICN, like a spoiler alert box, they could use an "emperor alert" box when he makes his presence known in a TB. He is my absolute favorite and I keep missing his appearances. I skimmed through this TB and he had some winners but my favorite was that, after many posts extolling his own learnedness, and multiple requests that he reveal at least one or two of his sources, the first book he specifically references is ... an Agatha Christie novel.

That's the problem I always have with Marvel Movies, is that their aim is revenues and for that yea the audience got it money's worth. But for Batman, Nolan got carte blanche to make the best movie possible. All they said to him when he did the first flick was: 1. Batman has to have a love interest, 2. he can't kill, 3. can't be R-rated. I feel that with Iron Man -and it may have been a freak occurance beyond their control - it was a case of having the perfect mix of popcorn fun and realism. But Marvel have never been this good since.

Problem with Avengers was Loki. Poor guy had nothing to do.
by chien_sale
They said he let himself get caught but then inside the Shield ship he does nothing. For a brief period it is presumed his staff influenced the Avengers but it doesn't last for long. And it's really the attack on the ship that triggers Banner becoming Hulk. Then Hulk transform and really it somehow is limited to one room and they push him out quickly. What should have happened is instead of Widow talking to Loki it should have been Banner. Then Loki influences him into going nuts and he does, becomes Hulk. Then it becomes a huge battle between The Avengers and Hulk after the Hellicarier crash on the ground. Sort of like what happened in the early issues of Avengers. The Chitori, Hell they are not even the Chitori from the comics, they were faceless weak beings. The plot is to open a portal for World domination? Loki has become quite uncomplicated since the first Thor movie, wouldn't you say. What should have happened would have been Thanos sending Loki to get to the Cosmic Cube with the alien forces only being a distraction. Instead of getting it at the beginning, it should be Loki's goal to get it and it is a chase between him and the Avengers for it while the aliens provide the distractions. At the end, to help Loki escape, the aliens show the heavy artillery. But then Loki betray the aliens to prevent destruction. And then every movie Thanos sends another villain for a new gem/cosmic talisman. Next movie could be Ultron or Kang. Also the alien foot soldiers should have been the Kree. Setting the stage for Captain Mar-Vell appearing down the line.

Loki was breaking banner down the entire time he was on the ship, i don't think the crash would have influenced him because he said he had control, when they are arguing and banner grabs the staff without knowing it, that is the indication Loki has been toying with his head. As far it goes i thought Loki was well adapted from the comics, his motivations were to make people fear him and rule the world that Thor loved so much leading him to make a deal with beings he entirely underestimated. Like Thor said at the end when he reminded Loki the destruction would not stop for him. Loki was wandering the universe in his banishment and quote "Found worlds (Thor) you could never imagine". All in all Loki's character in the comics usually ends up biting more than he can chew and i like that he constantly lost his cool because of his lesser emotions, its like Thor but his power and anger are rooted in his hate. ( You can tell i enjoyed "Thor" the movie right? )

D.Vades, I was refering mostly to DC's Direct to Video Movies and JLU. However, I concur about Avengers EMH as I was a huge fan of the Series. However the idiot Jeff Loeb apparently thought otherwise.

Canelling the series in order to capitalize from the Movie itself (Upcoming Animated series Avengers Assemble.) is not a creative decision. Instead, more like a Ca$h Grab Bag. EMH was doing great on it's own without any "Modifications" whatsoever as Season 2 more than proved it.The success of Justice League Unlimited obviously had some influence on The Avengers and it shows. From dialog, plot arcs, character development to all out action,Avengers proved to be a strong contender and Marvel just up and "Killed" a great thing. Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes 2010-2012 You fought the good fight til the end. "..forever fight as One".
