FX Orders 90 (!) More Episodes Of ANGER MANAGEMENT!! Charlie Sheen Will Shoot Then All Over The Next Two Years!!
Thursdays, June 28-Aug. 23, 2012
(18-49 finals; repeats in grey; prior weeks in parentheses)
1.7 (1.8) (1.2) (1.4) (2.0) (2.1) (---) (---) (---) 2½ Men
0.8 (0.9) (0.9) (0.7) (1.0) (1.1) (1.0) (1.3) (2.3) Anger Management
The 10 new Thursday episodes of “Anger Management” did not draw as big an audience as repeats of “Two and a Half Men” did on the same night this summer, but FX just greenlit another 90 minutes of “Anger” anyway.
All 90 will be shot over next two years, but new episodes should continue airing on FX years after they’re completed.
Martin Sheen will permanently join the cast as Martin Goodson, the father of Charlie Sheen’s character introduced in the ninth episode.

I guess this is similar to the deals Tyler Perry got to produce 100+ eps of Meet The Shits and House of Stayns
by Russell
Anger Management sucks btw.
-
Wow, it seems that shooting 90 epiodes in 2 years makes me "NOT" Question the quality of the show. Not that I was watching this mess to begin with, butwow this is not a good sign of a good trend.
-
do you proof read?
-
i gave up after 5 episodes.... I wanted to give up after the pilot....
-

so it's not coming back on for 2 years, they're not premiering one until they've shot all 90?
by TheSeeker7
and Martin... oh Martin. Sometimes even with family you have to say no.
-
It's subtle, but if you think about it, it's really funny. (cough)

but new episodes should continue airing on FX years after they’re completed.
by GeptaOO1
The to me says... No new episodes until all 90 are shot.... I honestly think Herc typed this article way too fast, and that's a mistake... i think he meant to say new episodes will continue to air over the next 2 years.
-
I mean what happens if ten episodes into the airing of the ninety the ratings plummet even more?
-
...was hoping this shit would crash and burn. I can't stand Charlie Sheen anymore and his promise that once the show was over (success or not) he'd retire was a silver lining in a sad excuse for a man with no talent getting things other less-successful but more talented actors don't get enough.
-
I'm pretty sure the point was that episodes will be rolled out on FX in season-sized chunks years after they've been produced. It would make zero sense for the show to be gone for two years.
-
...because it's easy for him to remember the characters' names?

So Daddy Sheen has to come in to keep his son from overdosing?
by BoyNamedSue
And ruining someone's lucrative investment? Why didn't Chuck Lorre think to do this?!?!?!
-
What I like about this is that I can't stand getting invested in a show and its characters only for it to be cancelled. This way I know it will last for at least 100 episodes and I don't have to worry about it being cancelled. Has the networked considered how dated the show might feel if they wait too long between broadcasting "seasons"? What if they invent hoverboards and flying cars in the next couple of years? And people start wearing their underwear on the outside of their clothes? Wait. Did I just stumble onto a time travel paradox?
-
Not one.
-
...no disrespect, shows like this don't deserve investment. A show you hate to miss even one episode of deserves that kind of loyal fanbase. And this doesn't just apply to dramatic shows either. Big Bang Theory doesn't have a very linear episodic feel, but there is an overall arc to each season. And that's just one example. This is shit. Charlie Sheen plays characters close to the vest because he no longer cares about gravitas. He doesn't want to be challenged as an actor, he only wants a paycheck... which he doesn't deserve in my opinion.
-
Has this ever happened before? This is the biggest episode order I've ever heard of! Usually it's 3 more episodes, or enough to complete a 22 episode order, or something like that. 90...wow!
-
enough for 90 episodes of Charlie Sheen? No wonder you're further down the path to being a has been, FX.
-
To have to make out with that decaying corpse that used to be Charlie Sheen must be excruciating. He looks like he smells like he's covered in feces.
-
Poor thing, shes deserves better.
-
Gotta love another Herc typo.
-
How do you agree to buy 90 episodes if the first ten hit a certain level? FX only does 10 episode seasons. So that is a 9 year commitment. Yes, Anger Management is doing very good numbers for a cable sitcom (which is like being the skinniest in a fat camp), but those numbers are a disaster for a Charlie Sheen sitcom. And who knows if people are going to be watching three years from now never mind nine.

I gave it the first episode, then I quit. Shitty
by kstewandthecuntsman
Agreed with the laugh track, awful. Plus, not the kind of (mostly) quality programming I expect from FX. It just doesn't belong on the same network with Sunny or Louie.
-
coz it takes a week to make a typical tv show episode right? jesus... how much is he getting per ep??
-
They must have already made a fortune selling this to foreign markets and possibly future syndication rights. How else can they justify committing to 90 more episodes of a show that lost almost 2/3 of its audience over 9 weeks? Curiosity and Sheen's "winning" notoriety may have made it, in the first week, the most watched FX show ever (or whatever it was) but that wasn't enough to keep the majority from quickly becoming bored with it.
-
They are looking to make 90 episodes in 104 weeks. Good for the crew - pretty much a regular, weekly, paycheque for the next 2 years.

by Lacloake
And Martin Martin Martin.... this is a long fucking way from Jed Bartlett mate....
-
You were the network that gave us The Shield. Why tarnish its memory with this garbage? I watched this show for the first time last night, coincidentally. It was, as Charles Barkley would say, "turrable." Never again. Never again.

Is this where Tyler Perry points at John Landgraf and goes "HA ha!"?
by Bill C.
Just curious.

and I will be happy Charlie Sheen might OD and be like Tupac having new stuff despite not being alive. maybe guest spot by Chris Brown and they can bond over beating women
