The Fabulous Jill Wagner
Returning To WIPEOUT!!

Published at: Aug. 29, 2012, 4:36 p.m. CST

I am – Hercules!!

I find fifth-season “Wipeouts” piling up on my DVR. And the ratings of the pratfall reality show seem to be losing ground since the wife of former boy-band member Nick Lachey took over as co-host last year.

But suddenly I’m charged up about the show with the news that Jill Wagner, who co-hosted the series during its first four seasons, is returning for the series’ sixth.

I used to really like Wipeout. But the two biggest complaints I had were that 1) the wipeout zone ending segment lacked the fun of the other parts of it, which really made me care less about the ending than the rest of it. And 2) The obstacles seemed to have degraded. Like the second and third ones were more just about pummeling people mercilously in a sort of Ninja Warrior style, than trying to make the misery fun like Takeshi's Castle. And the first segment, which was always the best part, is still kind of ok, I think they just ran out of ideas on how to make it interesting. I'm glad Wagner is coming back. She's a lot more interesting to watch than Vanessa Marcil. But they also need to cap the America's Funniest Home Videos writing team and bring in some new writers with a fresher take on it. You could almost predict 90% of the jokes Jon and John were going to make.

only watched the last couple of years

    by kurtisaurus

So I've only seen the un-Wagner eps but did always hear how she was way better. The John & Jon stuff is fast forward material for me, I wish they'd send Jon (John?) Henson out into the field to heckle the players in person like in one older episode I caught. He was WAYYY funnier out there than doing the shtick in the studio.

One good thing about Jill Wagner

    by Itchy

is her ass. Another is her face. And her tits. Also her surprisingly good comedic timing and her playful nature. I guess, all in all, my penis appreciates this news but my brain doesn't really care much.

slone13 - Now you do, I watch it

    by slayme

not cause it's great or brilliant or anything - but it's good mindless fun when you're eating a snack or to watch before bed or what not. It's certainly no Ninja Warrior - but with the super hot Jill Wagner coming back - I'll be watching season 6 for sure. whoever decided to hire that horrible Lachey woman should be fired. she is soooo much worse that Jill it's almost frightening. and Jill is smart too - not too much going on upstairs with Vanessa it seems.

The Question: Why'd she leave in the first place?

    by The Bear

To find movie/other TV work? If so...sad that she has to come back. Couldn't get any other gigs? She's talented, beautiful...the life of a non-superstar actor is truly tough...

  • C'mon, seriously: it's just background noise for you, right? This isn't a "reality" show or a "competition" show. This is The Three Stooges without the funny. Over the five minutes I've ever watched of this crap, I found the "announcers" to be fucking morons exceeded in their dull-wittedness only by the complete fuckhole "contestants," who appear to be the same kind of self-important douchebags that wave at the TV cameras during a news live shot. They can't actually form complete sentences on their own, though, so this is the best "reality" show they could get on. Honest to God, this show makes me weep for the fate of my species. Pick your alien invasion movie or series: THIS is what the aliens see that makes them think we're total push-overs.

Jill Wagner might get me watching again

    by jim

I was a little burned out on Wipeout when it, seemingly, was constantly on throughout 2010 & 2011. After watching a couple of episodes last Fall, not enjoying it as I once had, and noticing the absence of Jill Wagner, it was easy to drop it from my DVR.

    She was good in Splinter

    by Andrew Coleman

Saw that movie and she actually was really good. I like Wipeout more than most of the "reality" shows out there. At least there are some America's Funniest Home Video type laughs in it. The worst is the terrible "jokes" the announcers make. They are obviously not fluid. I think they should just let John Henson rift, it will be funnier I'm sure. The new girl who replaced Jill Wagner was fucking terrible. I mean she really made me change the channel. She was annoying. Jill coming back will make me watch again. Not just because she's beautiful... The type of woman I think I'd do anything for actually but she had fun with it, which made the show better.
