ScoreKeeper Has Five Copies of La-La Land's 2CD Limited Edition Soundtrack From X2:X-MEN UNITED by John Ottman To Give Away
Greetings! ScoreKeeper here to give away another silver-disc laced with amazing music music courtesy of the generous folks over at La-La Land Records. I haven't done a giveaway in a while so I figure I'm due. La-La Land has been releasing so many amazing soundtracks lately, I don't feel I've done even an adequate job keeping up. I'm currently prepping another CD soundtrack roundup which should remedy my negligence. In the meantime, how about I just give away some of their latest and greatest titles.
First up is an amazing two disc set of John Ottman's score for X2: X-MEN UNITED (2003). It's a limited edition printing of 3500 units and features just about all of Ottman's music from the film. It sports some amazing graphics and extremely in-depth liner notes penned by film-music journalist Daniel Schweiger.
So what do you have to do?
First of all, you have to email me at scorekeeper@aintitcool.com using the subject: X2CD4ME and include your name, mailing address, a valid email address, and your favorite X-MEN character and why. I'll collect all the entries and then randomly select five winners who will receive the 2CD soundtrack for X2: X-MEN UNITED courtesy of La-La Land Records. The deadline for submission is Sunday, September 2, 2012 at 11:59pm CST. Only one entry per person. International entries will be accepted. Duplicates will be discarded.
For more information regarding this release including track listing, audio demos, and purchasing information, check out La-La Land Records.
Send in your entries today!

Why the FUCK did Singer have to go and make the shit-fest that was Superman Returns?
by Dharma4
Can you imagine if he concluded his X-Men trilogy? Damn... :( -Namaste-

Powell knocked it out the park with the Dark Phoenix theme. Go give it another listen. Tell me you don't get goosebumps. -Namaste-

This was the last time that Anna Paquin was even remotely pretty.
by Chris Moody
She is a very ugly woman now.

I agree, dharma4. I love Dark Phoenix's theme. It was beautiful. The whole score is amazing. X2's score is kinda hokey, to me. Still good, but not very memorable.

Unacceptable.

My ranking of X-Men scores:

X-Men: the Last Stand
X2
X-Men: First Class
X-Men
X-Men Origins: Wolverine

I always thought the original X-Men score was way superior.

Seeing Halle Berry.......makes me yearn for Angela Bassett
by I_Snake_Plissken
I know Berry was the "it" girl for a while, but just seeing the cover reminds you how much she sticks out as the weak link in these films. Storm had a lot more presence in the comics, and somewhat of a regal air about her, Berry has neither.

It's a real neck and neck contest between these scores for me. I loved them both, but I think I give a slight edge to Ottman's score. I recall something he said in an interview on the X2 DVD, where he said he had a conversation with Singer over how the music should sound, and they agreed that because X2 was a much bigger film than X-Men, the score should be reminiscent of Wrath of Khan or Empire Strikes Back. I will say that X3's score was better than I had expected, and the only real lousy score in the X films to date was Kamen's X-Men score. It had no personality or memorable themes at all, which was a real shame.

over everything else. I remember the track for the fight scene of the statue of liberty... But idk magneto's theme and frankensteins monster sticks in my head. i havent forgotten it... AT all....
-
John Ottoman's X2 score wasn't as impressive to me, though it was attached to a better movie IMO.

dharma4 - YES! Xmen3 soundtrack is the best so far to me as well...
by Darth Macchio
While the others are not terrible, they're not very memorable....with one exception. Powell...who many on AICN hate simply cause he's a Hans Zimmer "protoge" is actually quite brilliant and innovative when it comes to original composition and his pieces for both "The Death of X" and his "Dark Phoenix" theme deserved a far far better movie than Xmen3 actually ended up being. His work on HtTYD is also profoundly good (he should have won the oscar). Glad to see some xmen3 soundtrack & John Powell appreciation here...I also did like the OST to Xmen:FC..especially Magneto's theme (basically, and unfortunately, that movie is mostly forgettable outside of the purely awesome Magneto 'revenge' scenes and Kevin Bacon)

X2 had a batter main suite, but X3, had pieces that blew me away.
by Shermdawg
5:17 in... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVrj3HmyFUY ...seriously, why the hell did they bury that rendition in the end credits montage? BRING POWELL BACK FOR X4!!! Say what you will for the story, but X3 honestly wasn't all bad.

The opening action sequence in the White House with Nightcrawler is by far one of the best action sequences in film ever. So well done.

"X-Men 2" is my favorite of the "X-Men film. Much to by suprise, "X-Men: First Class" came a close second.
by albert comin
The first "X-Men" is a very enjoyable movie and a pretty good start to the whole series. I don't want to hear about "X-Men 3". It never happened.
