MACHETE KILLS Has An Evil Henchman!!

You didn't expect Mel Gibson to do all the dirty work himself in MACHETE KILLS, did you?
Robert Rodriguez announced today that Mel will have a bit of help in his villainous ways, with Marko Zaror, the Chilean action star (CHINANGO and KILTRO), cast to play Gibson's top henchman for the MACHETE sequel. After making his U.S. film debut back in 2010 in UNDISPUTED 3, Zaror is set for a pretty substantial role, especially when it comes to the action in the MACHETE follow-up.

What does that even mean? Is that supposed to be a clever first line? Honestly, I just don't get it. Why would we expect or not expect Mel Gibson to "do all the dirty work"? Its like Randy Quaid saying "Bingo" in Christmas vacation - its supposed to sound quippy and clever but makes no sense at all. Oh Kidd, you've never had any potential!

He was fucking awesome in Undisputed III which I guess most of you haters haven't actually seen because it's not a 200 million blockbuster. This casting shows Rodriguez knows what he's doing casting wise, it's a shame the writing will be lazy and the action scenes underwhelming. Though Marko might help matters.

I mean.. c'mon.. It wasn't a super original film.. But I had a BLAST with the first Machete.. and got a kick out of the, at the time, JOKE notion of Machete Kills, Kills again and IN SPACE. I am glad to see another film in. what's not a film that has had a decent to lackluster but unnecessary sequel a decade ago and they FINALLY get around to making a pretty decent follow up *cough cough* looking at you MIB 3... and all you other properties being dusted off of late.. and sadly that would also have to contain (while I loved it) the long gestating soon to be Sin City follow up. At least its not a REMAKE of some film I actually enjoyed a while back. Then again, maybe I am not the right person to ask. as I actually enjoyed, though clearly not as great as Dudley Moore, the Russell Brand led remake of Arthur.. but HATED the remake of Fright Night.. don't care how many geek chestnuts they throw at it (and a decent turn from Farrell but that was a CRAP CRAP film). At least Machete.. knew what it was more or less from the beginning.. and never took itself seriously, or that it was a 70 MILLION dollar film. I'd rather see this than Predators.. *sigh* you talk about Rodriguez being bad? I'd say THAT was an off weekend for him.. that just was bad on every single level for some reason.

That weird, bored-looking, "I'm halfway through morphing between Paul Walker and Vin Diesel, and I can't make up my mind which way to go" face in that picture. He needs to keep that. Particularly while he's beating down suckers. And he can only switch expressions right before he gets blown the hell up with a LAW or a grenade or a bomb or some girl's uterus trying to defend itself near the end of the movie.

I've said much worse things to several exes just during sex alone. Also out of anger I've considered paying hitmen to kill some past loves. It's a guy thing. People get high and mighty and it's completely unjustified. I don't know if I could handle every piece of my life being under scrutiny and I think Mel's handled it well. I also loved Get Him To The Greek and I really didn't think I would prior to seeing it.

Seriously. Retarded. Eyes-too-close-together with a thought bubble that reads, "I like potatoes." Rub those two IQ points together and start a fire, boy-o. Not that putting him on-screen with Trejo is much of a beauty contest, but at least Danny has that alert twinkle in his eyes that let's you know _something_ is happening back stage. Love me some Mel, though. First Machete was ok, although the pacing was off. Hopefully this one is better, retarded henchmen notwithstanding.

Is this really what the Talkbacks have become? Jesus, you've always been a bunch of pricks, but what the fuck? "Hey guys, here's a bit of casting info on an upcoming film. A lot of people enjoyed the first one, so I thought it might be an interesting thing to post on a website about movie news." Responses: "That guy is ugly." "I didn't like the first movie, therefore no one else did, and no one is allowed to be excited about the sequel." And my favorite: "The film quality of that Youtube someone made is bad." Wow, you're right guys, how surprising that the film quality of a few low-budget South American movies might be less than pristine. The fact that a Youtube compilation someone made of them is murky certainly means that that actor is terrible, and there is no way that anything he does in a higher-budget could be any good. Why do you guys come to movie sites again?
