I’ll Be Watching You!! Check Out Now Claire Danes’ New Look In Showtime's HOMELAND Trailer!!
Is Carrie Matheson darkening her eyes and hair to spy or to seduce Quran-smooching American politician Nicholas Brody?
I’d like to point out for the record that there are already two Muslims elected to U.S. Congress: Keith Ellison (Minnesota’s 5th district) and Andre Carson (Indiana’s 7th). So Brody can kiss that Quran in public as long as he knows where to run.
New episodes return to Showtime Sept. 30.

Looking forward to this season!

I wasn't blown away by the first season, but it wasn't bad either. The excessive efforts to be politically correct felt really forced, but the acting by Danes and the guy who plays Brody made it work. I just hope the show doesn't become season after season of near-misses as far as trying to discover the truth about Brody. That last episode was definitely intense though, and it had one helluva of a dark (and ballsy) ending.

Homeland is a good show but not as great as some make it out to be
by Titus05
Claire Danes steals the show and Mandy Patinkin is also good but overall the show gets a bit too much praise from critics and fans...the episode where the bomb wouldn't go off due to some wiring malfunction was corny as hell...couldn't they think of a better way to have Brody return in Season 2? that said the trailer is fantastic because of its use of music...the 'Every Breath You Take' melody sung by the choir is a gorgeous rendition...very haunting
-
... I still say it was chickenshit for them not to have Brody set off the bomb and kill the VP. For the CIA to realize the Carrie was correct all along, but her deteriorating mental state making her a continued liability could have made for a great series. We see in this trailer everything that shouldn't be happening... more of Brody and Carrie's affair, more with Brody's wife and the army buddy, more and even MORE of following Brody around. Ugh. But, maybe (hopefully) I'll be wrong.

was going to write something snarky about how aicn has once again dropped the ball and missed yet another icon's demise. instead i'll just point you all to his obit http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2012/aug/15/harry-harrison

Loved Homeland until they completely wussed out it ruined everything
by and
I don't want anymore on Brody We already saw his arch and confrontation and build up and then when he didnt kill everyone he ruined what the entire show was building toward. oooh now hes a spy senator he might do something bad oooo. Really worse then blowing up everyone in charge? unless he sets off a nuke, Which this show has shown is too coward to do, theres really nothing I care about him doing. He'll probably help a terrorist attack happen where a bunch of fake civilians we dont care about will die. But none of the main characters. Seriously This show wrote itself into a situation where it could either have had guts or chicken out and the show completely chickened out. Do we really need to watch Carrie who has literally been character reset re-figure out what the whole first season she spent figuring out? How about more of Brody struggling with his family and being shady until another last minute change of heart happens. I'll watch it cuz the writing was great last season until the cop out. If they do it again. I'm done with it
-
The first season was brilliant, and it looks like I might be one of the few who wasn't disappointed with the finale. Claire Danes delivered what I thought to be the greatest acting last year in any medium, including both television and movies. I'm just hoping this show isn't one of those one-brilliant-season-and-then-a-precipitous-drop-in-quality shows, a la "Prison Break" and "The Killing."
-
Damian Lewis is one of the two leads of the show; if you expected him to die you don't understand television. And yes it's a television series, ongoing, not a mini-series. All these complaints seem to spring from ignorant expectations.

It's not ignorant the main bad guy dies in alot of first seasons Dexter the bad guy dies each season
by and
Don't be pretentious dude. People are not ignorant because they want a lead character to die.

I expect a big letdown this season - they kind of shot their wad in season 1
by FrodoFraggins
-
Sean Bean/Ned Stark. Whacked before the season ended. We still want revenge for him. "Homeland" is more akin to network television.
-
If you look back at all the season artwork for Dexter, the only one they put the villain in it was season 4, because it was John Lithgow. And by then a trend was firmly established (a bit tiresome in fact) that Dexter villains get killed in the end. It's apples and oranges, dude. Damian Lewis was on the season 1 artwork, he's on the DVD cover etc. He's a major character on the show, still with possibilities and ambiguities and developments left in his character, not a seasonal "villain" to be killed off. Anyone fantasizing of Claire Danes working on other cases not involving Damian Lewis' character in season 2 or beyond will just have to get out their fan fiction pens. I didn't say people were ignorant because they want a lead character to die, I said people were ignorant because they expected him to, and were disappointed. If you can't respond to a statement about ignorance without twisting it ignorantly, best to pause before you post.
-
Because the Muslim congressmen have been muslim for at least some time. They didn't convert while being held hostage by Islamic Jihadists. They aren't equal. It's the main premise of the show. Have you seen it?
-
It wasn't chickenshit for them not to have his bomb go off. It would have been chickenshit if it had. The bomb going off is lowest common denominator writing. It's what people think is supposed to happen any time there is a terrorist on tv. Now they get to be intelligent and have some political intrigue.
-
I'm not sure it's the same, there are other extremes like The Wire, where at any time it seemed like any character, big or small, was fair game to get killed off, except McNulty. I just think the positioning of the show in its marketing from the get go, followed by the actual plot, put both two main characters as the heart of the show in a way GoT or Dexter or most other shows did not. Maybe Homeland did take the chicken/safe way out. But while I enjoyed it and its tense moments, I never really believed he was going to blow himself up, taking the Vice President with him.
-
Sons of Anarchy, The Walking Dead, Boardwalk Empire and now Homeland. Also I am sure Breaking Bad 08 is going to blow my penis into my asshole it'll be so good.
-
Somewhere Teri Bauer is pulling a frowny face in sympathy.
Seriously as an audience member, watching a character having their progress reset isnt dramatic it just pisses me off.
-
'We need to maintain the status quo a bit more' - amnesia! Ding!
Im surprised Dexters writers havent shoehorned amnesia in somewhere, but to be honest Miami Metro are written to regularly forget stuff and arent even vaguely bothered Dexter turns up for work 15minutes a week, so i guess there isnt really a need.
-
Really? Do Networks and policy makers not how ridiculously stupid this is.
Proxys aside, even my dad who isn't that tech literate gets annoyed when he sees these and says 'Ahh Youtube it is then'. Seriously - wouldn't the networks prefer us watch their vids with whatever ad's they want to slip in?

I expect a let down too but for another reason: because it's Showtime. The show was great til the end and it totally faded out. Leaving a bad taste for most of us. But Mandy P. was fucking brillant, along w/ Danes.
by GQTaste26
Maybe it's just me but I had a hard time w/ the dude playing an American. His voice didn't work for me for whatever reason.

Trailer format is ripped off from The Social Network's, but it's effective.

I like Homeland, but thought the plotting got a little strained at times. I never got why Carrie started banging Brody and why everyone can't see there's something seriously screwy with him. That's due to Damian Lewis, who is creepy and off-putting. My girlfriend stopped watching with me because of him. I had to go look up the synopsis of the last episode because I'd forgotten that it ended with her having electro-shock. I don't see how she can ever get allowed back into working for the CIA after the laundry list of things she's done starting with hiding her schizophrenia to sleeping with the enemy. I'll be watching, but mostly because I'm hoping for more naked Morena Baccarin! Even the mighty Joss Whedon couldn't deliver that!
-
If they make a poster, that had better be on it.
-
I'm leery of where they're going with this show. To me Damian Lewis is by far the most interesting part of it. I don't think I'd be watching if not for him. I hope they can find a way to keep him around long-term without keeping him the villain or having it seemed contrived. I have to admit, I was a little bit disappointed with his reasoning behind becoming a terrorist. I was just hoping for something more layered than the bit with "Isa."
-
Fucking morons..
-
Ill watch the first episode.. and if its going to be copy of the first season.... then I will strike it from my DVR list..

P.S. Trailers that are not available worldwide suck....
by Richard L. Rhodes
-
Because while there was some great stuff in there actingwise, there was a shitload of nonsensical, dopey plot shit too. The whole fucking plan hinged on him being shuffled in to that room without ever being discovered with the goddamned bomb. Stupid. Gonna be interesting how they justify bringing Carrie back into the fold after that fucking meltdown though. Kudos to them if they can make that remotely believable.

Why in the hell would anyone want Damian Lewis killed off? He is the best part of the show!
by Gordon Bombay
Could only be topped by Brody's wife and Claire Danes with a double-ended dildo, willing to do ANYTHING to save the country.
-
... he says by the end of ep 2 and definitely by ep 3 we'll be blown away and understand the thrust of this season. Sure, he's about as biased as they come, but I think the first season earned my trust in the show so I'll say I'm excited to see what he means. Better deliver ...
-
Only lasted one season. There is a part of me that wonders if they intended to have the bomb go off, and changed their minds when they saw how well the show was being written and acted, so yeah, I do feel kinda cheated by the ending. However, it was so good overall that I'm happy to watch more of it and see where they are gonna take it.
-
It *is* possible for there to be an even shittier version of that song than the original Police version.
-
Was the whole sniper on the house roof just an elaborate misdirection by Abu Nazir, or a plan that he scrapped in favor of Brody's vest bomb? If a misdirection, seems like a long way to go and a lot of effort for a feint. If a plan he scrapped, when? Seemed like getting Brody close to the VP was the play all along. Minor point but if that was explained I missed it.

Carrie started an affair with Brody b/c she's cccccCCCRAZYYY
by I am_NOTREAL
By which I mean, even more unstable than most women.
-
Some of the plot turns had a 24-ish believability but in all S1 was a home run.
-
because there's no way anyone can play that crazy without having a little bit of it in her. Speaking of which, I'd put a little of it in her, as I find that skinny little nutjob very sexy.
