There's Plenty Of High School Drama In The Trailer For 10 YEARS!!

Published at: Aug. 16, 2012, 1:04 p.m. CST by The Kidd

The Kidd here...

Only in the movies does anything remotely interesting happen at a high school reunion. In most cases, people don't even go to them anymore, because, if you really wanted to see what people you went to high school were still doing with their lives, you would have made much more of an effort to stay friends with them. You may consider going, so you can feel better about your life, seeing that the people you hated in high school are still doing the same stupid shit they did then, only now years down the line... only what if they went on to riches and bitches and are still the same douchebags now that they were then, only they've been rewarded for it? Oh, fuck those people.

10 YEARS is the latest to enter the realm of the high school reunion, and, while it may be nice to reminisce with some of your old friends about how life used to be, you don't need 10 years or a reunion to do that anymore. Facebook allows us to coordinate such get-togethers, and only with the people we actually want to catch up with. That said, there's a sweetness in traveling down memory lane in this trailer (via Yahoo!), because we can identify with quite a few of these characters. We may not be willing to deal with any of the unresolved issues that come back to the surface so publicly like they do, but I get the feeling that's what'll make this an interesting watch.

I'd love to know the age range of the actors

    by Garbageman33

Who were all supposedly in the same graduating class.

  • Aug. 16, 2012, 1:07 p.m. CST

Anyone ever been to a class reunion?

    by theBigE

I went to my 20th. Hardly anyone showed up. Everyone looked the same, for the most part. The girls looked better than they did in HS.

  • Aug. 16, 2012, 1:14 p.m. CST

Same problem "Beautiful Girls" had for me

    by theBigE

good story, but I couldn't believe that all of these characters were all 27-28 years old. Ron Livingston? Isn't he 45? He better be playing a teacher. Make it a 15th year reunion. Or 13th - isn't that what American Reunion did?

  • Aug. 16, 2012, 1:17 p.m. CST

    I just skipped my 20th

    by mr.underwater

Basically, because they wanted $80 a head to attend ($160 with date), add to that travel expense and hotel (my folk's no longer live in my hometown) That shit would have run me $500 easy. Five hundred to look at pictures of my graduating classes' spawn. No thanks. I guess 2/3 of my class agreed, as it was sadly attended. Which makes me fell kind of bad. Kind of...

    My 10th

    by yourebreakingthejacket

Was kind of fun. The after party was good. The only real profound moment for me was probably the hit of Ecstacy I took. I skipped my 20th. However, a bunch of people got together the next night at a local bar. Sadly, I only live like 30 minutes from where I grew up. Sometimes it is nice to see people you graduated with whom you havent seen in ages. Other times, it is worse than getting your wisdom teeth pulled with no novacaine/anesthesia.

    by matt

I have no interest in reunions either, but I was dragged to my 10th just this year and there are still lots of people that are into them.

  • Lots of John Mayer, Nelly and Ja Rule. Thanks!

    by Bob Bitterman

I went to college with the writer/director. He's writing/directing movies now, and I'm not. I'm not jealous, really.

    High School (my experience)

    by KevinMuller

I think the overwhelming media influence made high school seem so much more than it was for me. Not to say I didn't have a good time but I was really shy and different than I am today. I still experienced a lot in those four years that effect myself and my writing. In ninth grade I tried desperately to be popular but that crowd wasn't my style. In tenth, I just kind of hung out. Eleventh is when I met a girl I would stupidly obsess with for the rest of high school even though she didn't want me. I really wish I could go back and smack myself into reality. I still had that naiveness to me then and I hated how much I lost out on not only dating other girls but experiences because I was, as you guessed it, this girl's bitch. It had a lot to do with my mom dying too. I think I just needed any type of female attention when my mom was taken from me. Senior year was awesome. It was a time that I look back on with great fondness. I filmed a lot of the antics my friends and I did. Some of it was in school and some of it was out. The footage, which was 32 hours, was like us, stupid and immature but it sure was fun. I just wish I tried harder because I know I was capable of a lot more in terms of both academic and social standards. To those who are here that are in high school, have fun guys, it goes by so quickly and don't take anything seriously, especially girls. I graduated in 2001 and feel the world was such a different place. I remember going on a cruise around Manhattan after prom. Yes, I went even though my pussyself almost didn't. I remember seeing the twin towers and being in awe of them and standing with my date, who as a good friend of mine at the time, and just thinking that everything was going to change after graduation. A couple of months later those towers were gone. I will never forget that cool and breezy June night. As some posters said above though...my life changed for the better when I left.

    Forgot to sum up..

    by KevinMuller

I didn't attend my high school reunion because everyone knew what each other was doing through facebook and the people I wanted to be friends with, I knew what was going on in their lives. I really think HS reunions will fade with in 20 years because of social media. I heard I didn't miss much. Only 50 people went out of a class of 250

    by FloatingHolmes

So much talent. So little to say. If only this were made forty years ago-- I bet it might have seemed fresh then.

    by MaxHeadroom

It bored the crap out of me. Never went to 15, or the 20th or the 25th or the 30th. Maybe I'll do the 50th.

  • Aug. 16, 2012, 6:40 p.m. CST

Ron Livingston is too old to be in this movie!

    by BoyNamedSue

He has to be at least 40 now.

I wouldn't go, not that anyone could find me anyway.

Went to my ex-wife's 10th. Blechh. It's much worse with people you don't know or gives two shits about. Oh look honey its the guy who popped my cherry. Let's say Hi. Kill me.

    I dunno...

    by Weresmurf77

I didn't feel any connection to this? American Reunion earned its reunion status. Knowing the characters for that long the reunion was genuine and well done. Not saying this movie won't be good at all but just saying there's really no attachment factor there?

It's a good thing they don't have college reunions then. Quadruple the debauchery.

My 10 year reunion 2 years ago was kinda awesome

    by D.Vader

Lots of drinking. Lots of dancing. ZERO drama. It was nothing like the movies. So in that case, it was extremely disappointing.

  • Aug. 16, 2012, 10:19 p.m. CST

    I skipped my 10th. Never heard about a 20th.

    by Michael Edwards

I hated school. The day I graduated was one of the happiest of my life. I refuse to join Facebook, so I have no idea what my classmates are up to. And I don't care. Fuck 'em.

  • Aug. 16, 2012, 11:01 p.m. CST

I will not attend my 20th.

    by Sithtastic

And noticing how many of us are talking about our respective 20th HS reunions, I don't think we're the intended audience here, despite the more than capable cast. I'm going to skip this and any other HS reunion coming my way. Too depressing.

  • Aug. 16, 2012, 11:12 p.m. CST

    Livingston looks old...

    by JeffManSixtyFo

...but that's how some people look at those things. OLD! I went to my 10th. It was all right. some of the women aged well and some didn't. The prettier chicks all had husbands a good 10 to 20 years older than them and looked bored sitting at their tables while eveyone else drank and danced. There was no 20th but a 25th reunion picinic which I skipped to go see Paul McCartney.Plus I didn't feel like paying $$ to feed someone else's brats. My 30th is this year but I am gonna pass.
