Some Behind the Scenes Pic of the Days are like people. Some shine and some don’t.
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes Pic!
There’s a wealth of Shining images out there and I love each and every one of them. It’s the same for almost all Kubrick films, though. He had an amazing stills photographer (and sometimes was his own stills photographer) and I always find it fascinating to see glimpses of Kubrick the man instead of the stern, precise, obsessive icon that we all know.
This image, for example, shows Jack Nicholson and Kubrick having a little fun together. Did Nicholson take that little strip of paper away from Kubrick and Stan’s reaching for it back or is Kubrick just engaging in a lively conversation and was caught mid-hand expression? I’d wager it’s some version of the former.
Thanks to Craig Gulow for sending this one in. Click to enlargen.
If you have a behind the scenes shot you’d like to submit to this column, you can email me at quint@aintitcool.com.
Tomorrow’s pic gets naked.

No mention of the Labyrinth maze miniature in the foreground? How could you not notice that and not work it into the write up?
-
onezeroone nailed it.

Nailed what? The fact that Quint didn't mention the maze prop? Why haven't either of you actually said something about it since it's so damn important to you? Maybe it's because there's obviously not really shit to say about it but "Hey look, there's the maze prop in the foreground. So, yeah." Work it into your own fucking write up, jackasses. Oh and "How could you not notice that and not work it into the write up?" is a sentence that makes no sense. If he didn't notice it, that would probably be one of the reasons he didn't mention it. Am I being too nit picky? Am I making too big a deal out of your nitpicking? Do you see where I'm going with this? Perhaps you two need a good "talking to", if you don't mind my saying so. Perhaps, a bit more..

I'm terribly disappointed, and justifiably so, that no one has mentioned Kubrick's huge looking wristwatch. It's probably some deeply inscrutable compound clue about faking the moon landings, the slaughter of the Native Americans, the Holocaust and a warning about the Illuminati all in one. Because look at that thing! It's obviously the wrong size for his wrist and the specific placement of it is slightly different in other pictures from the set, so it's probably to throw you off and fill you with dread or some shit..

I sent you a killer BTS pic of this film, the one inside the bathroom. It was a great Kubrick snap. No Like?

Ugh. None of you so called film lovers have mentioned the chair in the background?
by phifty2
And look, there's two. A possible statement, subtle as it is, on the duality of man? And what about that crumb in Kubrick's beard? Is there a spot of jam on that crumb? I think we all know the answer to that.

As a King adaptation, I hate it. But as a Kubrick movie I FUCKING LOVE IT.

I am such a HUGE fan of Kubrick it's unreal. I seriously fucking ADORE the movies that dude made...
by ChickenStu
Dr Strangelove and 2001 are joint number one. The only ones I can't say I'm a massive fan of are A Clockwork Orange (I hate stuff with sexual violence) and Lolita (which is just one of those films that you feel like you need to have a bath after watching). But everything else is FUCKING GOLD. You know what? I absolutely ADORED Eyes Wide Shut aswell, I think it's just fucking brilliant. The Shining, Full Metal Jacket, Barry Lyndon... oh wow. It seriously sucks that this guy is dead. LONG LIVE KUBRICK.

Cool series. Take a look at #11 and ask yourself what Harrison Ford is thinking. Mine is, "God, I love my life. I'm here, making a movie, and I get to hang out with FUCKING SEAN CONNERY!"

"Jack, they're making a prequel to THE SHINING! Can you believe it?" "Stanley, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I'm gonna pay those fuckers a visit. I have an axe to grind."

As a man, he was certainly one of the most formidable filmmakers in history, and the secrecy he kept around his private life makes him almost legendary.

To this day I'm endlessly amused by that single fact. "I have to break through a cheap plywood door? Bitch, please."

I have watched the bartender scene on Youtube about 167 times
by Anthony Torchia
and it keeps getting funnier, every single time! Ha, Beetlejuice and the Shining, tastes great! I love this film, I love both men, I would have blown either one (still might blow Jack but Stanley is out of the question. Probably) I would sell my soul for a drink but no one is offering me any
