The Behind the Scenes Pic of the Day hates Illinois Nazis.
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here with today’s Behind the Scenes Pic!
Today we have a nice little Blues Brothers BTS shot for you to chew on like it’s four fried chickens!
Here’s a beat-up Elwood Blues as he draws very near to completeing his mission from God. Even though he’s been through hell, dodging rednecks and Illinois Nazis, Dan Aykroyd looks like he’s in such a good mood that he’s about to start talking about how Ghostbusters 3 is still an inch away from happening!
Thanks to Pat Barnett for sending this one along!

If you have a behind the scenes shot you’d like to submit to this column, you can email me at quint@aintitcool.com.
Tomorrow’s pic has had its whole fucking life to think things over.

Heh, I just wanted to beat some 'tard who would claim to be first.
by Queefer Sutherland
I don't give a shit about this stupid movie.
-
Probably from that Pixar guy's blog again.
-
I just assume you're not so competely useless that you could hate on this film. If you are however then wow... just wow. Blues Brothers is a miracle.
-
Akroyd needs to lose 75 lbs before he can worry about making Ghostbusters III (The Dark Slimer Rises)...
-
Looks like car chases and jumps galore!! Pure old school car stunts!!
-
and a coke.
-
Shit, they still owe you money fool.
-
Used to rent it every weekend from the local video shop. Got to the point that the women who owned the shop would just give me it for free an only charge me for my other rental. This was my inroduction film to Aykroyd, Belushi, Landis and even Spielberg in a round about way.. Blues brothers 2000 was the worst film i have ever seen, it's shitiness actually managed to tarnish the origional imo.
-
I love the first Blues Brothers album, love the band, love the concept of Jake and Elwood, and Belushi and Ackroyd are great, of course... but the movie is, sadly, a sloppy mess. Landis didn't know when to much really was too much, and needed much more adult supervision in the editing room. Some great bits for sure, but as a whole it's hard to sit through.
-
Been through Hell is not dodging Rednecks and Nazis jhc... It's meeting them head on, and then some, just for starters, ffs... sorry, just a film, just a film... Everyone seems to love this movie so much I think I'l give it another go
-
This was the first movie I ever saw, on Betamax in 1981. Still a real treat, Landis did a great job.
-
is, Dan Aykroyd looks like he’s in such a good mood that he’s about to start talking about how Ghostbusters 3 is still an inch away from happening!
-
Love it. Love it. Love it.
-
Much better than that lame, stupid cameo he did on Austin Powers.
-
This movie at age 11 was my introduction to the great Cab Calloway. Ever since I've been a fan. Without the Blues Brothers I honestly don't think I would have ever been exposed to, much less became a fan of this phenomenal entertainer. Thanks John, John and Dan.

I hope the Ghostbusters 3 script that Murray rejected leaks soon
by rev_skarekroe
I'd love to take a look at it.
-
I will christen my arse Arthur and tattoo it with the same legend. GB III will NEVER happen. They're fucking with us and have been the whole time. Why would Ramis and Aykroyd draft in writers when they wrote the first two? I call bullshit.
-
I know it gets said a lot, but they REALLY don't make em like this anymore. The car chases/stunts alone are worth its weight in gold. Plus you have a big budget Hollywood film that for the most part has little dialogue in scenes. Great music, cameos, stunts, quotable lines...what more could you ask for? This was the beginning of a pretty sweet reign for John Landis in the 80's. The best film based on an SNL sketch without a doubt. 'Wayne's World' a close 2nd.
-
The first is a wonderful movie. The second is an example of how the first is unique. The magic of the first probably can't be recreated. It's not impossible, but it's hard to see how it would work.
-
Wasn't that the guy who got gutted, then strung up like an angel by Hannibal Lecter?
-
Is the eighteenth most famous car in the world. The nineteenth is the AMC Pacer from Wayne's World.
-
I swear he was the guy in the toy store asking "Do you have a Ms. Piggy?" just before the Blues Brothers demolish the mall.

The leader of the goo ole boys was charles napier who indeed did get strung up by hannibal..
by paul burnett
.. and it was erstwhile stuntman john lloyd who asked for a miss piggy doll.

Would love to see her full frontal and give her a nice bukkake bath!

...about Ghostbusters 3. Not gonna happen, and if I'm wrong it'll be SHITE. You know it. Just enjoy the classic we have and ignore the awful and already-existent sequel.

If the Ghostbusters 3 trailer doesn't start with "female solemn solo" and build up to "epic chanting chorus" then I'M NOT interested.
by Dogmatic
B/c without that how can I know if it will be any good??
-
I'll accept the "it's your generation dude!" thing for those who actually find nothing funny or entertaining about movies like The Blues Brothers, 1941, Animal House, Stripes, Caddyshack, etc... I also try not to be an asshat and condemn someone's opinion...reasons of objectivity and bias being obvious and all that... But if you get nothing from Blues Brothers - not even the music, then I wonder if your apparent cynicism is clouding your judgment. I never liked a single Guns & Roses song but I absolutely recognize the talent and ability of the band. I still call them a great band I do not like. Perhaps The Blues Brothers is a great movie you just happen to not like? Or perhaps you keep your sense of humor firmly behind your ego and tend to be crippled in your appreciation of humor and good times. I could be wrong...of course....
-
Seriously, look at the guy in this picture, that's not the sad fuck who wanders around maundering about UFOs and shit. Elwood had rhythm, style, smarts, and sufficient savoir faire to land and leave Twiggy. Ackroyd is too busy smelling his own farts to know which end of the ugly stick hit him. The lord took the wrong blues brother - and way too soon!
-
judging by the look on the make-up guys' face.
-
... we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses."
-
You are a complete cunt.
-
It wasn't him.
-
Thanks Guys!

Looks, there's a sale at Macys.

Ahhh the summer of 1980...seeing Airplane and then The Blues Brothers a week later...
by openthepodbaydoorshal
warped my tender little mind... ..thank God.
-
Great movie which didn't get a great reception at the time. Incredible music talent and stunts. Got more than I bargained for when I saw this one.
-
And some dry, white, toast!
-
Exactly. Make-up guys name was "Shotgun" that is him in picture. He was also in cameo "Cheez wiz" guy in tramp hotel.
-
The Skyway theater in Mpls had the sound cranked up so loud it was painful. Had to leave. Didn't think much of the first third of the movie anyway.
-
No ma'am, we're musicians. I love that line.
-

I bet Jake and Elwood didn't like Wisconsin Nazis, either.
by FluffyUnbound
Too soon?
-
It has got to be the rendition of "Raw Hide" in the honky tonk bar. The teary eyed rednecks completely sold that scene. That and the finale where Calloway sings Minnie the Moocher. When the curtain opens to that brightly lit beautiful big band set up- I love that scene.
-
It's never gonna happen, no one wants it to happen, it SHOULDN'T happen. Bill Murray is the only one with any sense on this issue. LET. IT. GO.
-
is the location work in Chicago and the surrounding areas. We really get a feel for all the different neighborhoods and the different sorts of people that live there. The city is almost the third Blues Brother. Landis and Aykroyd did a similar thing in the awesome Philadelphia based movie, Trading Places. And of course Aykroyd was in one of the greatest New York films of all time - Ghostbusters.
-
hell, if I had millions and a girlfriend willing to shoot me up, I might have been doing them too now it's just shrooms and grass in my old age, such is life
-
How can an SNL film be so damn classic? When it's on a mission from God!
-
Those wet pouty lips are a godsend in BB....

Sorry, but there aren't many movies you have to be an asshole to dislike, but this is one of them
by GilbertRSmith
Terminator 2, The Big Lebowski, and this.
-
Seriously if you actually don't like BB, watch the sequel and you'll fall in love with BB simply as a reason to hate the sequel more.
-
...now THAT's random.

There are only two films in existence where 'Ride of the Valkyries' was used successfully...
by Bill C.
...this is damn sure one of them.
-
With all due respect, as great as this film is.... ...THE best SNL movie goes to Office Space.
-
but the music alone blows u away...but of course it comes together for a grand, twisted, fun road movie. "but we're the GOOD OLE BOYS!"
