Check it.

I hate pretty much every character except for Olivia Munn. The blonde is probably the most annoying of the group with the lovesick puppy being a close second. I gave up halfway through episode 5. As always, Sorkin lacks balance in his coverage of the two parties.

for those who want a Breaking Bad dedicated TB- do you actually have anything to say about the show, other than --- I want a Breaking Bad dedicated TB?
by Michael Lunney
because if you did, then that might be more fun...

When herc originally posted this Sunday TV talkback Breaking Bad was lumped in with the other shows. The BB TB was put up AFTER my comments above.

On Newsroom tonight, should the Republican pundit automatically criticize the president, or simply report his actions, whatever they might be, without editorializing?
by Michael Lunney
because this show does not seem to be about a real newsroom, but what a better newsroom might look like. Is Sorkin writing believeable Republican characters, or must they all think the same thing at all times, without ever having a thought that might be considered liberal-friendly? I am a liberal, but I occasionally have conservative thoughts----- hmmmm...
-
Aug. 5, 2012, 9:06 a.m. CST
and so it begins... BB talkbackers, feel free to also join in with your comments about your show, please - just skip the pnewsroom BS and please have something to say about the show.
by Michael Lunney
because bitching about not having your own talkback is like, not fun to read.....

Sorkin is unfairly getting drilled in the media. Although it might be a boost ratings ploy.
-
I thought I would say it first....
-
I can't think of another event that this might be.
-
Hahahahahaha!!!! You're kidding, right? Hahahahahahaha!!!! Oh boy! The talkbacks continue to be a great place for a laugh!

Newsroom may not be one of the best, but it's one of my favorites.
by TaisonX
I get why some people dislike it and I'm not going to proclaim it one of the best, but it's one of my favorite shows right now. I still watch True Blood but I have no idea why, I'm rarely entertained watching it at this point but the ratings are still great, so maybe it's just me. Breaking Bad is obviously the king of the hill when it comes to scripted programming.

I've avoided Newsroom, deeming it pretentious horse-shit until now...

Remember that magical year when we got Sopranos then Deadwood back to back??? Followed by a half hour smoke\piss break for Venture Brothers... Those were the days my friend.

Hellraiser's best show is probably Wipeout followed by Wife swap in a close second.
by Mr Soze
-
The best tv shows on RIGHT NOW are Breaking Bad, Dallas, Teen Wolf, Futurama, Tron: Uprising, Avenger:EMH, and Young Justice! Honorable mentions: Falling Skies, Weeds, Black Dynamite, and Newsroom.

Though Robin Williams really didn't do anything for me. Louie is brilliant because it does things so outta left field and yet make it fit. Its one of the best comedies on tv--BAR NONE!

hollywoodhellraiser - not exactly- how old are you, and what are you getting out of THe Newsroom- one of my favorite shows right now? Just curious for your take on it...
by Michael Lunney
-
I like Alan and loved West Wing. Though his shows tend to be preachy and his characters have the runs---in the mouth. I dunno. I just can't relate to to any of the characters on The Newsroom. I find them annoying and far less intelligent than the show would have me believe. I do think the politics is about as even as watching any of the network news shows. Different channels. Different spins. The Newsroom haven't been "can't miss tv" for me. But it also be that its HBO. With the exception of GoT and Empire, it offers very little. Honestly, I felt the same way about Homeland but since then I warmed to it. Maybe that'll happen with Newsroom? Maybe.
-
everyone who had a computer knew he was dead before the president spoke. it wasn't 100 percent, but that shit got leaked, so i don't know how a fucking newsroom wouldnt be able to figure out what was going on.
-
I think the only reason I watch it is because there are a lot of hot women. Sad but true. As for newsroom, loved last weeks ep, hoping for more on that level.
-

True Blood has been great this season ... needs one thing though
by Itchy
and that is more of Sookie's tits. All the sudden she's too good to break out those gap toothes sweater melons ? Nothing makes a good show better than hot tits.
-
Nice little sci-fi show. Nothing spectacular, but entertaining and fairly consistent.
-
But damn it feels incredibly derivative of Sports Night. He's combined Dan and Casey into a single character, and split Jeremy into 2, but beyond that, there isn't a ton of distinction.
-

olddicklemon - tonight's episode should be a good one, but to me, they all are....

I like Sorkin's style, it feels familiar, but like a good visit with an old friend....

volllllume3 I would watch it, if I could get whatever channel it's on...

It's made me really like Olivia Munn. I remember reason about her casting and the role she was playing (super hot phd holding news consultant) and rolling my eyes. But I really love her character and she's doing a great job playing her. Hopefully the will they won't they stuff with the two staffers gets marginalized, I'm not finding them anywhere near as precious as they're being made out to be, nevermind they're the two blandest characters on a show that actually has enough interesting stuff an characters going on that it doesn't need this lazy television crutch.
-
The opening credits alone are eyerollingly-full-of-itself, but the show proper is a whole lotta' fun. Plus I really dig Falling Skies, or as I call it Theonlygameintown.
-
And a second season is not yet fully confirmed. If you've enjoyed the debut season of one of the best sci-fi shows since BSG, tweet @showcaseca and ask them nicely to bring it back for a 2nd go round. Criminal Minds, you fucked up in making Rachel Nichols the scapegoat for your own writer's room's shortcomings. And you handed her the role of her career so far.

boy, those newsroom folk sure can party. And how often does a Keith Obermann type gets fucked up w/ twenty yr olds?
by GQTaste26
Maybe more often than I realize.
-
and not just because Rachael Nicols is in it. The show is pretty good alternate reality scifi. Wish there were more like this on TV and I hope to hell it gets another season. I think I need to move to Canada because there are so many hot women from that country. :P
-
ok i get it your edgy and controversial and dark and full of homosexual debauchery i got it. Still waiting for sooki boobs.

Garbage like this belong on TLC with Here Comes Future Fat White Trash Slut Honey Boo Boo.

BB is good but its kinda depressing now... whereas Newsroom is so damn uplifting and makes my insides feel shiny good shit as always newsroom
-
Aug. 6, 2012, 1:16 a.m. CST
also... this has been the best season of true blood imo
by yourSTEPDADDY
Sookie is being focused on less is a big factor the political vampire storyline is interesting to me (at first i thought it was just a stannis/melisandre ripoff) but i didnt like how the ex-preacher vampire took the little werewolf girl... it just seems to forced, including the pack storyline and shifter storyline to the lilith storyline oh well, still enjoying it more than i ever had
-
when is it back on ?
-
It was on last night. It just took a week off due to the olympics.
-
You won't be seeing them this season. Anna Paquin was pregnant while filming.
-
I did not know this! Thanks. Well, talk about some killer eyes. Anyhow, I need to get to Maine more often. :P
-
just for the weekly reminder, that being first and fast often means being wrong and ridiculous. Yes, I remember FOX is FIRST and the nearly hourlong reporting of Quadaffi's death by GERALDO. The happiness of Bin Laden's death over shadowed that mistake, and made it a forgotten footnote. Thanks Sorkin for reminding us, that on the most important news day in decades, FOX got it completely wrong. And everyone (all the networks and cablets) reported Gaby Giffords death prematurely. This is not a show criticizing libs or cons. It's a deadly critique of lazy and sloppy journalism.
-
They hate everything except for millionaires and fetuses. Oh, and they hate spending money on anything at all unless it explodes, detonates, or launches. Fuck them. Sorkin can't do much with that. Exactly what kind of balance are you looking for...
-
...took last week off, but returned with a new episode last night. After the fireworks of the previous episode, this was a "character" episode. And for those who weren't spoiled, it had a little sucker punch/twist at the end. Locke shows up next week.
-
If Breaking Bad doesn't recover from the Skyler crap and pick it up soon, its going to be replaced at the top of my favorites list.
