Sources tell Deadline Hollywood that Javier Barden is no longer playing Roland in Ron Howard’s movie/TV adaptation of Stephen King’s novel series “The Dark Tower.”
Howard is reportedly talking to his "Cinderella Man"/“Beautiful Mind” star Russell Crowe about stepping into those cowboy boots.
Apparently the plan is still for Warner Bros. to release three big-screen "Dark Tower" features and two "Dark Tower" miniseries for HBO. Deadline say Warners is less than two weeks from deciding whether to greenlight the first movie.
Akiva Goldman, who is scripting Warner Bros.' proposed "Dark Tower" movies and TV series, wrote "A Beautiful Mind" and "Cinderella Man" in collaboration with Howard and Crowe.
I loved the young Crowe in Sam Raimi’s “The Quick and the Dead.” I’m excited to see an old Crowe play cowboy.
