WONDERFALLS Star Caroline Dhavernas Reunites With WONDERFALLS Mastermind Bryan Fuller For HANNIBAL!!

I am – Hercules!!

Caroline Dharvernas, who played the lead in Bryan Fuller’s acclaimed comedy-fantasy Fox series “Wonderfalls,” will re-join Fuller for “Hannibal,” the NBC prequel to “Red Dragon” and “The Silence of the Lambs.”

Dharvernas will play a psychology professor who consults for the FBI division charged with profiling serial murderers.

We don’t know yet whether Dharvernas plays FBI forensic psychologist Dr. Alana Bloom – a “Starbucking” of Dr. Alan Bloom from Thomas Harris’ “Red Dragon” novel, which introduced Hannibal Lecter to the world. (The book’s Alan Bloom was renamed Sydney Bloom and played by Paul Perri in 1986’s “Manhunter,” the first movie based on “Red Dragon.”)

“Hannibal,” expected to arrive on NBC early next year, will focus on two characters of Harris’ “Red Dragon” – star FBI profiler Will Graham and psychoanalyst/closet serial killer Hannibal Lecter – in the early days when they worked together solving serial murders.

Denmark native Mads Mikkelson (“Casino Royale”) will inherit the role played by Brian Cox in “Manhunter” and Anthony Hopkins in “Silence of the Lambs,” “Red Dragon” and the 2001 movie “Hannibal.”

Hugh Dancy (“Our Idiot Brother,” “The Big C”) will play Graham. “CSI” refugee William Petersen played Graham in “Manhunter”; Ed Norton played Graham in the 2002 “Red Dragon” remake.

FBI profiling chief Jack Crawford – played by Dennis Farina in “Manhunter,” Scott Glenn in “Silence of the Lambs,” and Harvey Keitel in “Red Dragon” – will be played in NBC’s “Hannibal” by another “CSI” refugee, Laurence Fishburne.

Still to be cast is blogger Fredricka Lounds, based on “Red Dragon” tabloid reporter Freddie Lounds (played by “Avatar’s” Stephen Lang in “Manhunter” and Phillip Seymour Hoffman in 2002’s “Red Dragon”).

Fuller, who wrote the “Hannibal” pilot and will serve as the series’ showrunner, wrote for “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” and “Star Trek: Voyager” before he created “Dead Like Me,” “Wonderfalls” and “Pushing Daisies.”

    Great casting.

    by mastermold

She's very talented, not to mention beautiful. And very underrated, in my opinion.

  • believe his first big screen role was at the age of 31, gives hope to all struggling actors.

Clarice will end up in the show

    by IWasInJuniorHighDickhead

they won't be able to resist. But isn't there some rights dispute for the Clarice character?

  • Aug. 2, 2012, 9:08 a.m. CST

    But Herc!?!

    by Billy

What about the fact that Fuller also scripted the best episodes of Heroes first season, including the killer Noah Bennet episode Company Man??!?!?!?!? Least we should all forget...

Will they hang out at that coffee shop in "Friends"? <p> Will they have a funny friend who is a member of their gang for comedy relief?

She Was Never Even Close to Being Hot On Wonderfalls

    by Crow3711

    Wow. That picture. Wow.

  • Aug. 2, 2012, 12:18 p.m. CST

She was insanely cute/sexy on Wonderfalls!

    by Fawst

I was going to watch this anyways, but her casting totally sealed it for me. Now I can't wait for it to start! As for bringing Clarice in, that's a bad idea. Lecter was already imprisoned for eight years when Clarice finally met him, and she wasn't even an FBI training graduate yet. That means she would have been a teenage orphan at that point. They would need some very lame connecting storyline to bring her in if they tried it. Leave her out of it, please.

    Loved Wonderfalls and Caroline

    by chuckmoose

but I don't have much interest in the subject of this show. I will likely check it out anyway due to cast and the producer.

Call me crazy but this could work.

    by Mugato5150

I don't know anything about the cast except the guy from Casino Royale is Lecter but the concept, if done well could definitely work. I would prefer it if it was on a premium channel or even basic cable but it's not a bad premise, even though there will be the obvious comparisons to Dexter. What will make it suck will be that they're probably going to make Lecter out to be a Batman/Punisher type character. Like the first half of the episode will be discovering who the killer is but they don't have enough evidence to arrest him on and then Lecter will come in and kill the guy. Sort of like how in the movie Hannibal Lecter was more of a justice seeking hero instead of a psychotic cannibal.

Wonderfalls had the best monolog into death by a vehicle moment

    by Domi'sInnerChild

Worst trend in movie/TV right now, but Wonderfalls was early in with in and was the best one in my opinion. While not technically a vehicle, Deep Blue Sea gets an honorable mention for Sam Jackson and the shark.

Love her and dug Wonderfalls, and FYI if you get the chance to see Tulse Luper Suitcases, then you get a naked Dhavernas bonus! Hooray!

I wonder how the wonder falls

    by oisin5199

Any show with an XTC theme song has to be amazing. As much as I loved Pushing Daisies, Wonderfalls is the superior show in my opinion, as the chaos is more under control, and the characters more real. So many wonderful actors in that and Caroline stood out. Good to see her getting work again. Though I wish she and Fuller were doing something a little less dark and serial killer-y.

    by Clavius

Seriously? SERIOUSLY? You may want to check your pulse because I think you're dead. OK I'll grant you maybe it was more personality than physical beauty, though IMO she was freaking ADORABLE which in my book = hot, god how I had a crush on her. That pic of her above....DAMN!! Mr. Bilbo nearly jumped out of his Hobbit-Hole!

And great to see so much Wonderfalls love I agree that Hannibal is getting a great vibe about it, has that auraof both high quality and high ratings brewing, hopefully it's true

    Loved Wonderfalls...

    by xsikal

...but not at all interested in Hannibal. Sorry, Silence of the Lambs was a decent movie, but never much cared for the books and the other movies have been mediocre. Cannot muster the enthusiasm for a tv series.

    is that pic really her?

    by rakesh patel

Wonderfalls was brilliant. My fav ep was with the kid who brought a russian bride. Had a really great cast, a real pity it was canned. Had to special order those dvds from the states! Is that really her? SHe looks really different. stunning. but different.
