George Lucas Is Not Currently Writing INDY 5!!

The Kidd here...

There's a part of me that thinks a fifth Indiana Jones film is just a bad idea. After CRYSTAL SKULL, it just feels like we should leave Indy alone and move onto other things. Would I love another adventure with Indiana Jones? Absolutely. But that doesn't mean that's something that should happen. Then again, there's a part of me that wants to see the wrongs of CRYSTAL SKULL righted. I can't be the only one pained to see such a beloved character go out like that.

Another film has been rumored since the last one, but once again, it's dependent upon Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Harrison Ford coming together in agreement that there's another story to tell. It's been widely believed that Lucas has been working on trying to crack at least one more chapter in Indy's history, but that might not be the case according to producer Frank Marshall. Marshall's been making the rounds lately to promote THE BOURNE LEGACY, but, in an interview with CraveOnline, he had a few words about what Lucas is doing as far as the development of another Indiana Jones movie. As far as I know he’s not writing a fifth INDY. "i think he's thinking about ideas but he's certainly not writing one. We'd love to keep the series going but again it's got to be a really good story. They're hard to do."

Remember the dialogue of the STAR WARS prequels? Then I think we can all agree that Lucas not penning the script is okay. However, Lucas has always been involved with the story creation of the INDY series, so I don't think that'll change much. It's just a matter of whether or not he's got another good one in him, as the prequels, RED TAILS and CRYSTAL SKULL create a lot of doubt.

Is it time to put Indiana Jones to rest, regardless of the past affection we have for the series?
