Check Out The Upcoming Entertainment Weekly Cover Featuring...Matt Smith/DOCTOR WHO!!!!!???!!!???!!!
Here's the DOCTOR WHO themed over of the Entertainment Weekly which'll hit newsstands this Friday. I'm told this is the first time a British television show has ever featured on the publication's cover - this is long overdue, and I can't think of a better way to launch (what I hope will be) a trend.
More information re: what to expect Friday, HERE!

Me, that's who!
-
Very cool that the Doc got a cover at last, but they include LOST as a cult TV show? Aren't cult shows ones that haven't been adopted by the mainstream and exist on the fringes?
-
Not buying Entertainment Weakly, but it is nice that they're advertising Who.
-
says "Matt Smith as Doctor Who." Ugh. It's THE DOCTOR, dammit.
-
Well, in their defense, Up until the 5th doctor, he was credited as "Doctor Who". Maybe they were being nostalgic. :p

David Tenant's first appearance was credited DOCTOR WHO
by martinprince
But all subsequent episodes credited him as The Doctor
-
Maybe it's just the angle.

This isn't Starlog, it's EW. Doctor Who will be in smalltown US grocery stores!

That's a childhood fantasy come true. The Doc on the cover in checkout aisles! My childhood has been VINDICATED.

Wouldn't it be funny if "Who" was his name this whole time?
by cromulent
LOL right?
-
he looks like a scrawny, geeky fanboy dressed up. his face doesn't help either, he looks much younger than he probably is. hard to take him seriously. but yeah listing Lost as a cult show is wrong, it was a huge hit from day 1. the others either never went beyond cult or at least started small before getting more popular. but i guess to them cult simply means "genre show".
-
included in the 25 greatest? I don't know, man...

About flippin' time! They've snubbed The Doctor so many times, I guess their splash at Comic Con was finally to much to ignore!

Doctor who???
-
When are Steven Moffat and Matt Smith going to jog on?
-
I did LOL actually
-
Next: Matt Smith makes the cover of The Rolling Stone Magazine.

“It’s not an obscure show anymore,” says executive producer Steven Moffat. “It’s not even a ‘British import.’ It’s just Doctor Who.”
by Perigee
Wheeeee!!!
-
All I can say is that MLP:FiM had better be on that list. That's pretty much the definition of a cult TV series. Yes, I am completely fucking serious. Come on tolls, hit me with everything you got. I can fucking take it.
-
Yes, at last. VINDICATION!!
-
Well he is
-
I don't know. Third Base!
-
Sad.
-
Just some "specials." Really? That's our 50th anniversary? Really?
-
We're getting the first half this year and the last episodes next year. So it's not as though there won't be episodes...
-
She was still young.
-
We're losing so many of the classic era actors now, it's really sad. Mary was always my favourite Romana. :(
-
My favourite Romana -regal, classy and more than a match for the Doctor. My thoughts go out to her family and friends. Bad times for fans of classic Who. I feel very sad and very old today.
-
I feel like my childhood is being systematically taken away from me... All these losses in the Whoniverse the past year or so. Farewell Mary Tamm - Romanadvoratrelundar in Peace.

Godammit, 'nutha sista goes down... A shame.
-
Sympathies to her family and friends. She was my introduction to Doctor Who - her arrival on the show was the first episode I saw.
-
It's not beneath the Beeb to jerk us around sideways, but I could probably live with 4 or so 3-hour specials chock filled with ex-Doctors, Spectacular Explosions, Super-Rory, the Hologram edition, Cylons, Data's head, The Wizard of Oz, etc.

Place your bets - which cult series that should be listed in the 25 best won't be in their list?
by DoctorTom
Right now I doubt they'll list Misfits Max Headroom Twin Peaks even though they should be there. They might actually have the first two on the list but just not on the cover (like I suspect that Farscape and B5 will be on the list), but I figure Twin Peaks would have made the list on the cover if it were going to be in there.
-
It's a brown stallion with wild hair and a collar and tie with an hourglass mark on its flank. My niece showed me its picture. Holy shit. I say Matt Smith should do its voice just for the fuck of it.
-
I am absolutely in favor of this idea.
-
She was so beloved. And always will be.

Yes!

Rumor has it that the big Amy/Rory tragedy this season
by jimbojones123
Will be negated in the Dr. Who 50th extravaganza and land them a happy ending. Now if we could just get some Captain Jack Darkness confirmation for this season.....
-
The Prisoner The Avengers I'm sure they'll use some weasel words so that it's only for 25 years or something like that. And even then, I'm willing to bet they forget The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.
-
have there been any TARDIS sightings at Olympic Stadium yet? If the organizers had any sense of whimsy at all, they'd have Tennant do the scene from Fear Her carrying the torch in - unless they just want to park a TARDIS in the middle of the stadium, have a few Weeping Angels statues around, and let the torchbearer run into the TARDIS for a minute before coming out again.
-
Is cult because of Bruce Campbell, and that is the ONLY reason why. If there was any other actor in that role, it would either have no cult status whatsoever, or the show would of lasted 7 seasons! lol
-
the stuff with the Orb moves it into cult. With or without Bruce it probably would have lasted a lot longer on a different network or even a different night, instead of being in the Fox Death Slot.
-
I already mentioned one show that should be there (but probably won't). In addition to Friendship is Magic, I would also say The Venture Brothers, Pushing Daisies, Spaced and Reaper.
-
No Spaced, no B5, no Adventures of Brisco County Jr., no Max Headroom (which would have just made it in with their limit of the last 25 years). They did have Twin Peaks and Farscape, though. There's also some questionable choiced that anything in my first paragraph should have replaced.
