Andy Griffith didn’t just star in the funniest sitcom of the 1960s. Tonight TCM salutes the actor with a marathon of four of his movies, starting with the excellent “A Face In The Crowd”:

8 p.m. ET – A Face in the Crowd (1957) – with Patricia Neal, Anthony Franciosa, Walter Matthau and Lee Remick. Directed by Elia Kazan.

10:15 p.m. ET – No Time for Sergeants (1958) – with Myron McCormick, Nick Adams, Murray Hamilton and Don Knotts. Directed by Mervyn LeRoy.

12:30 a.m. ET – Hearts of the West (1975) – with Jeff Bridges, Donald Pleasance, Blythe Danner, Alan Arkin, Richard B. Shull, Herb Edelman, Alex Rocco and Marie Windsor. Directed by Howard Zieff.

2:15 a.m. ET – Onionhead (1958) – with Felicia Farr, Walter Matthau, Erin O'Brien, Joe Mantell, Ray Danton, James Gregory and Joey Bishop. Directed by Norman Taurog.

That’s right – Griffith made TWO movies with Walter Matthau within a year of each other. Andy Griffith was almost Jack Lemmon for a minute there.

Tonight’s premieres:

Mama Drama (11pm VH1)

Ninjago (8pm CN)

    Hey Amigos!

    by Paul

Im watching all of the panels on YouTube that I missed while at Comic-Con, I got to see a lot, but the lines are so crazy that you have to really be selective. I waited 3 hours in a line to see the Once Upon A Time panel and still didn't get in.

Just watched No Time For Sergeants...

    by Terry Powell

...and Soldier in the Rain this weekend. Great little double feature. If you have never seen Sergeants I urge you to as it has one of my all time favorite comic performances, Myron McCormick as Sergeant King. My girl and I almost fell out of our chars laughing at this guy. He is priceless without saying a word(watch his reactions during the Captain's inspection of the latrine). To quote him, "Beautiful. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful, beautiful."

    Green Acres

    by TheCommodore

Green Acres was the funniest sitcom of the 1960s. I liked Andy Griffith, but his show wasn't the funniest sitcome of the 60s. Green Acres was the Arrested Development of its time.

Hey Pa and Jay. Hope everything is going well for you guys. If the world doesn't end on 12-21-2012, I am definitely going to a Comi-Con one day. Mcgoo, never got a chanceto respond to your post the last time we spoke. No offense was taken. It just irks me when people try to lump everyone together. All Republicans don't have the exact same stance on issues as others. Same goes for Democrats. Everyone is different, so their views are going to be different. I like finding the common ground where we can all agree there are problems. Example. A couple of weeks ago Obama passed a law so that the firefighters out west could have health insurance. Why was this even in the news? Of course they should have health insurance. They are out there risking thir lives to protect our country. The forests, National Parks, all the animals, and lots of peoples lives and homes are saved by them. I am glad the President and Congress pushed this through. I don't care what political party you support, this was a no-brainer. Good job on that one!!

I am definitely going to let the masses clear out first. The Grand is the only place with IMAX, and that is the best way to see it. I say we wait a week or so after it opens and try to catch an early show.

    AGT/Howard Stern

    by eck_iii

There are some talented people on this year's AGT. But no one is fantastic. Howard Stern is still an ass. How come people like him so much?

My wife and have tickets for The Dark Knight Rises for Friday night! I was supprised since I thought sure that all theaters would be sold out all weekend, since I waited until yesterday to buy them, but all of them were nearly empty. I asked the ticket lady about that and she said that most people were going to the midnight showings. I've never done one of those. I'd be too afraid of falling asleep. Although the arithon is kind of tempting.

    Futurama is crap

    by Newmark

Just like Family Guy and Southpark, it should have ended a long time ago. It used to be one of the smartest and funniest shows on television.
