A Clip From ITEM 47, The Lizzy Caplan AVENGERS Quasi-Sequel Included On The Upcoming Blu-ray!!
Disney has released a clip from “Item 47,” a 12-minute sequel to (spin-off of?) Joss Whedon’s “The Avengers,” which will be included on the “Avengers” DVDs and Blu-rays due to hit shelves Sept. 25
Maximiliano Hernández reprises for “Item 47” his “Thor”/“The Consultant”/“The Avengers” role of Agent Sitwell, who this time is tasked alongside a fellow SHIELD agent played by Titus Welliver (the man who would be Smokezilla in “Lost”) to track down a pair of humans who have taken to robbing banks with an extraterrestrial weapon left behind by the invading Chitauri.
The law-breaking couple, Benny and Claire, are played by Lizzy Caplan (“Cloverfield,” “Party Down,” “New Girl”) and Jesse Bradford (“Swimfan”).
Marvel exec Louis D’Esposito directed the short from a screenplay by Eric Pearson, who also wrote the screenplays for two much shorter and less elaborate SHIELD-centric short films – “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor’s Hammer” and “The Consultant” – included on earlier Marvel Blu-rays.
The "Avengers" Blu-ray is also rumored to contain as many as 35 minutes of deleted footage written and directed by Whedon.

Should be a fun short. The effort put into giving us a little something extra with the purchase is appreciated.

Or do they actually plan on shooting everyone in the bank? I'm not sure I follow how the gun gives them the freedom to become bank robbers. Though maybe that's too much thought for what I'm sure is a fun little short. I'm pretty sure the short that was on the Hulk was made solely because they realized after the fact that they filmed an Iron Man cameo that didn't make any sense.

I mean, unless that in part of the film, they'll establish how SHIELD agents went around the city with the express purpose of collecting up ANYTHING foreign related to the Chiutari race, and somehow this one just kinda slipped thru the cracks.

Not really excited by this. Just remake Laserblast instead. Such a promising premise that was turned into such a horrible 70s B-movie. And by the way, it's not just Lizzy's physical attributes. I think she's a damn fine actress to boot.

is the theatrical cut. So says Whedon himself in a recent interview (I know all you geeks know how to use the internet, so you can look it up yourselves). He said there's no planned DC - at least not with his involvement as he's already produced his "director's cut" and it was called the theatrical version. He said he made a 3.5 self-indulgent cut, but it was never intended as the real deal. After refining the edit, he made his director's cut and submitted it to the studio for mass release. Now, that doesn't mean Disney/Marvel won't release a longer cut incorporating the 35 minutes of deleted scenes later on - but it won't be with Whedon't input.
