HAGEN!!!! Is CRUSADE Paul Verhoeven's next film'
Hey folks, Harry here. So... Is Arnold shooting straight? Of course I have to wonder... "Script Edit" Oh no. This means one of two things. Either, A) they are going to be taking some shit out to make it cheaper... or B) The are Arnold-izing the fucker. Either of these options SUCK!!! CRUSADE is one of the very few perfect scripts waiting to be made. My god, Please don't fuck this one up. After just putting up that GLADIATOR story, I am very jazzed about this film. Let's all pray that THE HOLLOW MAN does gangbusters business and gives studios the confidence in Verhoeven to give him the PEARL HARBOR sized budget he'll need to make this film. This movie would sooooo kick your ass into your chest.
Harry,
According to an interview last week on the set of THE 6TH DAY, Arnold talked
about the long delayed CRUSADE. Here is what THE ARNOLD FAN at
thearnoldfan.com had to report:
The journalist Craig D. Reid is just
back from a
2-day trip to Canada, hanging
out on the set of Arnold
Schwarzenegger`s
latest sci-fi thriller THE 6th
DAY, which co-stars Robert Duvall and
Michael Rooker. He got a 40-minute
interview with the "Oak" himself. In
the film,
produced by ROBOCOP's Jon
Furthermore, in a rare breach of his own cinematic
etiquette, Arnold
shares
with us a bit about his upcoming films. In that patented,
deadpan voice,
he
drawls, "We're still working on THE CRUSADE with Paul
Verhoeven
for within
the next year from now (production and script-edit work);
then I'm
doing
COLLATERAL DAMAGE with Andy Davis in June, and of course
James Cameron is
now writing TRUE LIES 2. DOC SAVAGE is being written as
we
speak"

Chilling and beautiful, although the skeleton part is admittedly cheesy. Great font too, by the way.

I just didn't want some dipshit throwing "I'm first!" on the board. I'm sure you'll understand. I loooooove the idea of Paul Verhoeven directing The Crusades, but Arnold? I haven't enjoyed him in a movie since Terminator 2, and that was nearly a decade ago. I just don't see why this guy is still a big deal, and I think he'll be a detriment to any film he's in. The novelty of him has worn off, and he still can't act. Personally, I think this movie should have a young cast of unknowns and minor stars. A throwback to those old "cast of thousands" type things. And like I said, the Hollow Man trailer is spec-fucking-tacular.

Sorry Vegas, but I have to say that in the right context Arnie can be great. Total Recall, Predator, The Terminators, True Lies, though its probably kindest to draw a discrete veil over Twins and End of Days. I ask you, who else could have turned 'I'll be back' into a classic line? Not sure if Crusades is quite the vehicle for him, but here's hoping!
-
I've read this script and it's worth Harry's raving. If done right I'd say $200 mill domestic is within reach, this could be a MAJOR comeback for Arnie. i'm skeptical though, i've been hearing that this movie will happen forever. BTW, anyone else notice that, unless it was a typo, arnie referred to it as 'THE crusade' just like he intoduced cameron's film at the oscars as THE titanic? arnie don't you know the name of your own pet project?
-
in full regalia, a lot like he appeared in Conan. If he's in a good movie, he's really good. If "Crusade" is an Arnie Movie, screw it. What is Harry doing? He's got this sort of Asterix-and-Obelix look to him, then he proceeds to lay an egg...?

I can't really weigh in on the subject until I have read the script. But from what everyone is saying, it does sound like it would make a cool flick.

CRUSADE will be the fucking Schwarzenegger/Verhoeven movie of al
by abking
The story and imagery that Arnold and Verhoeven will bring to life with CRUSADE will put your mouth in fucking AWE all the time while you are watching it. I'm HAPPY to hear that Paul "the man" Verhoeven is still the director. Arnold, make this your summer 2002 EVENT film (or Cameron's TRUE LIES 2).

Crusade is perfect for Arnold... about fifteen years ago. Even five years ago it was imaginable but now, it'd just be silly. When will our fading matinee idols accept their age and go gracefully? I still think the movie might just happen because Crusade is a crap script. Arnold seems to like those.
-
Hey Harry, the script edit comment is parenthetical...it's the interviewer or editor's insertion, not Arnold's quote...you know that. Besides what's so bad about letting Arnold have his input into a role he's going to be playing? End Of Days was great! remember all of the cool dialogue and the..uh..neat scenes...with..the....ugh...it's going to suck isn't it...couldn't he just stand in the background with a big axe or a hot poker and look intimidating?

I can just see that lower jaw jutting menacingly out from beneath a helmet.
-
OH please make this one.No need to say more

Has everyone forgot this perfumed turd of a movie. I've not read the script of Crusade but if Flesh & Blood is any hint of what Verhoeven is capable of within this genre...well...I await the result with all my fingers crossed that the end result doesn't suck like a ten dollar whore (i've loved every Verhoeven movie apart from Flesh & Blood and Showgirls).
-
I haven't read the script, I don't really know what it's about, but I gather that it's a medievil action film. So, if Verhoeven wants to make a violent, quirky, armour-plated hack-n-slash-fest, with Arnie in the lead role, then let him, I say.

I don't agree that the Big Man is over the hill, as some on this board have suggested. Remember, he's in great physical shape--and I mean great for a guy *half* his age--it's just his script-choosing ability that needs work. I, too, would love to see the script for CRUSADE. Anyone know where I could find it? E-mail me or post to this board. Thanks!

I KNOW this has little to do with Crusade, but Arnold hasn't said "I'll be back" since I think the Last Action Hero. I used to look forward to hearing this line in his movies. It was like Bruce Willis with "Yippi Ki Yay motherfucker" only Arnold got to say "I'll be back" in every movie he was in. I know this is a small stupid matter, but damn it, I want more I'll be backs!
-
Imagine Arnold as Hagan telling some mean ass knights "I'll be back" when they capture him. Man, that would rock.
