Nordling here.
I didn't expect DREDD to get the reception that it did at ComicCon - people may think that that audience is naturally wired to love all things comic-book, but truly, if you don't impress that crowd, they'll eat you alive. I've been to enough geek screenings of anticipated movies that didn't connect with their fanbase to know that just because it's playing for the geek contingent doesn't mean it's a sure thing.
So, DREDD 3D kicked some ass and took names, and judging from this clip alone I could see why. This looks to be a bit of the good old ultraviolence, and my anticipation of the movie just ramped up several notches. Sure, it may be THE RAID: REDEMPTION all over again, but so what? If it's done well, like this clip suggests it is, I'm down. Enjoy:
