UPDATED With Individual Disc Sleeve Designs!!! The MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE: PHASE ONE - AVENGERS ASSEMBLED Blu-ray Box Set Gives You Your Own Tesseract!!
The Kidd here...
If you've got any of the Marvel Movie Universe films on Blu-ray, this is going to be a bit of a tougher sell for you, considering the cost (you're looking at 153 bucks right now through Amazon pre-sale), but for a chance to own THE AVENGERS, the two IRON MAN films, CAPTAIN AMERICA, THE INCREDIBLE HULK and THOR, in addition to an extra disc of bonus material, some reproduced files, all in Nick Fury's briefcase with a glowing Tesseract you can call your very own, it might be worth it. Hell, I want one.
Click the image to embiggen.
That's what you get if you pick up the MARVEL CINEMATIC UNIVERSE: PHASE ONE - AVENGERS ASSEMBLED Blu-ray box set on September 25, instead of just MARVEL'S THE AVENGERS by itself.
That bonus disc is secretive right now as far as its content, but I'm getting the feeling that only this box set will contain it, meaning for Marvel completionists, you're going to have to make some tough choices.
If you don't own a majority of this set though already for some reason, this is easily a must-get.
UPDATE: While you're at it, take a look at the individual disc sleeve designs created by Matthew Ferguson particularly for this box set (via Marvel). This thing keeps looking nicer and nicer.

i just want the film
-
I know. Weak.
-
Reminds me of the Blade Runner box set, but that was much more reasonable in price.
-
And I won't buy these movies again!
-
This doesnt look like its getting released in the UK, which is utter bullshit! I really want this set, the digipack movie sleeves new art work is brilliant and who wouldnt want a Tesseract? If I import this the duty etc that we have to pay in the UK will be ridiculous its at least 20% plus there could be other charges too and thats not counting shipping either! Look at the figures for the films, the market is here in Europe that they couldve have released it here too!

would be interesting to own, but 150 bucks, damn, if you told me that in another 50 years I could take this on pawn stars and get 1000 bucks for it I might ponder it

but damn it is pretty cool

I want it :-)

Or am I one of the few that actually has a wife/job/life outside my parent's basement? $150 won't barely cover a nice night on the town....
-
Ha good comment. Same page as you - $150 barely covers a nice dinner out in Boston, not to mention the babysitter and drinks/concert/etc afterwards. It's good to be a well-rounded, financially stable adult geek. In short, I wouldn't think twice about picking this up.
-
Can anyone confirm this?
-
when LOTR was releasing extended edition DVDs they came out one at a time over a few years. when they were released together, they came in a collectible box that held all 3 together. for those who had purchased the 3 individually, new line allowed you to send away with proof of purchases for all 3 films and they sent you the collectible case for free....nobody would have missed out, and the fans who wanted the items as they were released weren't screwed out of anything.
-
well some of us might have to combine lunch money or allowances from mowing lawns and delivering newspapers to get this! Not everyone is grown up and all adulty you know!

I hate when the studios screw the fans that made them billions. These will collect dust on store shelves because the fans have already bought the blu-rays.
by Doctor_Nefario
-
Look, that's a sweet ass set for 150 small. But I'm looking to pick up the 3D blu-rays as well. Gotta use that awesome tv for something.
-
And the only Avengers movies I own are Hulk and Thor so it might be worth it. My biggest problem is I hate to buy "collections" like these when they are still ongoing in terms of films. We already know of sequels, and at the end of the day I wouldn't even know where to keep a big briefcase full of movies. Plus I only really want The Avengers movie. The other ones I would maybe watch once more since I'm not the biggest fan of them.. so I guess I'll just get the Avengers Blu Ray by itself. There. Through a talkback I talked myself into saving $150.
-
Luckily I only own Iron Man 1 & 2 but I've seemed to have lost my Iron Man 2 somewhere so this is the perfect replacment! Christmas comes early!
-
I only have incredible hulk & iron man on dvd. Bah - if anything I'll wait until it's dirt cheap on an amazon sale.
-
So...we'll see what kind of deal I can get on this before Christmas.

This'll look nice in your room in your moms basement, it'll drive the girls crazy!
by cameron
Never seen the appeal of watching the same movie over and over again, and the only movie out of that bunch i liked was the 1st iron man movie because it was new & a bit different, none of the others seemed aimed at anyone over 15. The story, acting, humour, etc; was very basic. I suppose if you're a rich 15 year old kid that suffers from attention deficit you might buy this because by the time you've watched all the movies you've forgotten what happened & can watch them again...or you can go outside, kick a ball, talk to a girl....your choice.

Kidd: "If you don't own a majority of this set though already for some reason, this is easily a must-get."
by Big Dumb Ape
Actually not. Even if you don't own ANY of the movies yet, it would still be cheaper to order them off Amazon film-by-film given the way they're always putting them on sale and fluctuating the price. Which means that if you do own one or two of the movies already, frankly, you're better off just looking for those sales and cobbling together the rest of your collection. In fact, my biggest gripe with buying big sets like this -- and this has happened to me far too often -- is that I'll be watching the discs and then one of them will turn out to be defective, at which point I have to return the whole damn thing... get a new set... and then I have to watch and sit through everything all over AGAIN just to make sure that all of the new discs are okay. That said this looks fun and goofy -- I wish anyone well who wants to plunk down their cash to let loose their inner nerd. But, me, I'll pass. I guess I'm just showing my age, but I've bought too many of these "collectible" set things in the past, going back through my VHS and laserdisc and DVD days. I basically got rid of most of the "collectible" stuff because now I just find myself saying "For crying out loud, just give me the slimline set. That way it will sit on the shelf looking nice and orderly alongside all the other videos AND best of all it won't take up so much freaking room."

$200 will go quickly on a night out in Philly with the girl(s). I have no problem with staying in one weekend if it means I get this cool-as-nuts set. I often wonder about the age demographic around here lately.
-
Nice design work my Mr. Ferguson there. Pretty sure I can live without this though.
-
Make that "...by Mr. Ferguson...".
-
to have Power, to have the Tesseract , to have absolute power
-
At least, of the movies that were originally released in 3d, of course...
-
. . you wake up late for work, and accidentally grab your Nick Fury briefcase as you run out the door. You get to work, go into a meeting, and instead of your budget report, you have a Tesseract! Uh-oh! Unless, of course, the Tesseract is REAL. . at which time, you would just take over the building and make your boss drop to his knees before your mighty Tesseract!

Anyone who would rather have a plastic box with a light in it than a night out has problems
by you-me-n-marley
I dont live in my parents basement and my wife doesnt have to sleep with other men because i get exicted over toys and merchandise so how about a plain and simple box set.
-
this is a website dedicated to being a nerd with a section dedicated to toys. I bet some females think this stuff is cool too. I remember Jim Rome used to make fun of adults who like star wars when he an adult who likes grown men playing baseball a kids game. No shame in being into nerdy stuff, enough of the living in parents basement with no girlfriend/ or wife crap. I know plenty of women that go crazy over Steve Roger's ass. I have a wife and don't live at home so I can't buy a blu ray collection? you are pussy wiped my friend

Use the apostrophe to show possession. Place the apostrophe before the s to show singular possession. Examples: one boy's hat one woman's hat one actress's hat one child's hat Ms. Chang's house NOTE: Although names ending in s or an s sound are not required to have the second s added in possessive form, it is preferred. Examples: Mr. Jones's golf clubs Texas's weather Ms. Straus's daughter Jose Sanchez's artwork Dr. Hastings's appointment (name is Hastings) Mrs. Lees's books (name is Lees)

to have $150 to blow on a luxury item, or a "night on the town" while most people are scrapping by....something to brag about. Does it make you guys feel better than us "common" people?

by DidntPullOutInTimeCop
Well, guess you can still bitch about the people who liked it.
-
I had all the films up till now on Blu. A friend borrowed my Captain America Blu, which I purchased at Wal-Mart release night for 19.99. Now that Avengers has been so successful the price on C.A. is almost $30. Looks like I'm going to have to wait a LONG while to replace.. gotta wait for the hype to die down *sigh* This box-set probably isn't going to help matters :(
-
Yes. The set includes the 3D versions of Thor, Cap, and Avengers. Check out the details at Amazon and you'll see what all is included.
-
Hm. Sad that you lack self confidence enough that you felt compelled to express how "manly" you are. Someone forgot to tell you that being a real man means more than having one swinging between your legs. As for your inane & ignorant comment regarding women having to "sleep with other men" because their husbands or boyfriends are geeks who like cool stuff, you obviously don't know the right women. If you even have one, which I have my doubts based on your comments, and she's the type that she'd actually do that should you even remotely suggest you like cool stuff, I'd say you need to find one that actually likes you for who you are which, again based on your comments, I wouldn't blame half the population if they wanted nothing to do with a grouchy, sex crazed monkey spanker like yourself who has nothing better to do than drop by geek websites and badmouth others. My WIFE, upon seeing what all comes in this set, suggested I preorder one at Amazon to take advantage of the DEAL (all six films, 3D versions of three of them, plus a bonus disc of never before seen stuff not available with the individual releases, prop replicas, artifacts, etc all in that cool case with a glowing Tesseract? BARGAIN!). You see, she likes COOL things too, unlike the shallow, anorexic twats you are familiar with....or not as the case may be.
-
It's only available for region 1. That's BS
-
that's great that you have some disposable income. Not everyone does. Don't be condescending about it. I'm buying this too. But don't be an ass and start with the all the "you must live in mom's basement if you can't afford this, no job, no sex, etc" put downs. All the guy said was it was expensive for him. And it isn't expensive for you. Cool, but you couldn't just keep that to yourself?
-
My intention wasn't to denigrate anyone about being rich, poor, or if they're a geek in their parent's basement, it was more in the line of 'in this day and age where everyone "needs" a smartphone with data plan and thinks nothing of dropping over $100/mo on a phone, $150 bucks for all you get here is really a bargain', and that anyone who thinks it's outrageously high needs to get out and see what things cost in today's society.
