International Minute-Long DARK KNIGHT RISES Trailer With New Stuff!
Nordling here.
The trailers for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES promised a more somber, darker affair, but what we've been seeing recently seems to bring more levity and fun. I'm sure THE DARK KNIGHT RISES will bring plenty of "MY PARENTS ARE DEAD!" soon enough, but I'm enjoying the lighter tone of the snippets we've seen so far, especially this one, with Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman) ribbing Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) a bit about his "retirement." Like ROCKY III, we all know Batman's going to get back into the ring with Clubber Bane. Until then, enjoy:
THE DARK KNIGHT RISES opens July 20th.

So, is Morgan Freeman gonna be the new Q in the Bond franchise?
by Royston Lodge
He seems to already be playing the role for Nolan.
-
Was this a quote from Batman Begins that I don't remember?
-
How does that work? WOuldn't those accoutrements on the sides get crushed and scrape along the ground as that front rotates?
-
Dude he's batman. He can do anything.
-
I hope that's what it is. That would be a great way to keep it going with out Nolan and Bale. But probably wishful thinking.
-
It just feels like there is something missing. I don't mean the joker either, i don't know what it is but i am just not as excited this time around. I think i am more interested in seeing the bike and the "bat" than i am in the bat man bane and the rest of the crew...
-
It's because it's the end of the trilogy and most trilogy's the 3rd film is a major let down. Lets hope this is the exception to the rule.

There's only so much you can cram into a 1-minute long trailer. I'm sure there's plenty of surprises for us.

Just speculation on my part, but I think that's the truth behind all of these Robin rumors. We'll all see in a couple of weeks.

This is the first trailer I've seen that shows Bruce with a cane (others showed him leaning as though he had one, but this is the first I've seen that actually confirmed it).

yes, please someone answer scorchys front bike wheel question
by yourSTEPDADDY
i always wondered that in dk, but after seeing this, i cant wrap my head around it (especially with the way its shot this time around)
-
I think its a injury from when he fell in The dark knight saving Gordons kid.
-
I think that inertia just allows the wheel to spin and flip over to keep it up. it just kind of flips... and looks badass while doing it. I get the feeling that it only operates at high speed too, so the wheel flipping doesn't damage the metal guns and stuff on the wheels. Also- keep in mind those guns on the wheel sides are serious metal- they likely wouldn't get crushed. I think.

That cheesy fucking recall method is for shit comedians not fucking seriously awesome films. Nolan just went down in my estimation. Join the cliched gimmick.

but the footage is rad. also, today is thursday and the sky is blue. can't wait for tdkr.

"Box Office Now Open," and "Only in Cinemas." Over here in the States, that same narrator/announcer says, "Advance Tickets Now Available," and, "Only in Theaters." Just one of those funny little cultural things.
-
The Batbike wheel can rotate like that, and the BatCopter thing can fly despite its lack of aerodynamics, for the same reason that a man in tights can fly with no discernible source of propulsion: The laws of physics are very different in the DC universe.
-
I don't know about a tick but i agree it looks kinda goofy..should be a lot cooler IMO.

Yeah yeah yeah. Deep down, we all know that in Batman Begins, the city's primary ailments weren't due to organized crime, really.
by Royston Lodge
Carmine Falcone didn't cause Thomas Wayne's nifty monorail to fall apart from neglect, or force all those homeless people to live under the overpass, or stop picking up the fucking garbage. That was all down to the city government. If Green Arrow exists in the Nolanverse, I bet he really hates Batman.
-
"It's because it's the end of the trilogy and most trilogy's the 3rd film is a major let down. Lets hope this is the exception to the rule. " Yes, like Return of the King was such a major let down.
-
like when American trailers say 'coming September seven', instead of 'coming on September the seventh'. Does my poor, cockney, chimney sweep head in.
-
Well said sir! "September 7" my arse. It's the SEVENTH of SEPTEMBER. As in, the seventh day of the month of September. Lazy bastards.
-
I have no idea why people think its going to be darker. What Goyer and Nolan has discussed about the ending is similar to the ending of Spider-man 3 and how Raimi said it would be emotional. It doesn't mean he will die, it means he accepts his role and becomes the hero we expect him to be. Unless the reference to Bruce and Alfred going to the circus is supposed to be emotional.
-
I still don't get why everyone lapped up that mess. Leo and Marion Cottilard were okay in it but...it feels like a big, expensive pile of nothing to me.

Cause he saw the avengers and that was colorful...
-
I guess that makes sense - he's injured and out of practice, then gets his ass kicked by Bane, then rebounds at the end of the movie. Still, I wonder what messed his back up in the first place (he seemed to be running fine after leaving Dent's body). Should be a blast, I can't wait.
-
Seriously, if they're going to use a famous line, this has to be in there. He doesn't get much opportunity to shout "my parents are DEEEAAAAAAAD," really.

there's a spy video taken in Pittsburgh of one of the last scenes in the film and she's very much alive.

I have been a Batman fan since I was 5. I always wanted a Batman done respectfully. These films are so much more than comic films...they could stand alone as films in a genre. BB- Thriller, TDK- Crime Drama... They will reboot this but it won't match the level of epicness that Nolan has brought to this character. July 20 is going to a bittersweet good by to what has been a great ride.
-
I have never seen anyone defend it and I'm convinced that we all agree that it is annoying. I watched Batman Begins the other day and noticed that for the 1st contact with Gordan scene in his office and when they are talking on top of the stairway at Arkham and pretty much any time Batman talks to Katie Holmes (minus the subway scene) Bale uses the right voice and it is spot on for Batman. Beyond that the voice becomes...well you know. Aaaand his lines become dumber like when he confronts the Joker and says "where's the detonator?" Really? He becomes a blunt force instrument that doesn't speak intelligently.
-
Sadly, this is no joke. And Duncan Jones is wanted to direct. http://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/ryan-reynolds-batman-dark-knight-rises/?utm_source=crowdignite.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=crowdignite.com

I love Bales Batvoice! I always imagined it sounding like that when I read the comics.
by MariusXe
Seriously. Thats why I always hated Conroys portrayal. He just talks like a Knight, not a urban Batman monster myth that scares criminals into shitting their pants. Bale does sound exactly like that. I love his take on the voice.
-
Doesn't sound like any Batman I know. I'm willing to go with Nolan's version and see where he takes us, but the premise up front feels wrong and I doubt this will be better than TDK.
-
I always imagined it has the ability to swivel 360 degrees like a trolley wheel in certain situations - perhaps it's a built-in function that kicks in as soon as the machine recognizes that it's spinning out of control, or it's activated manually by the rider?

I'll throw my hat in the ring too. Other examples of our transatlantic cousins (or more specifically, their news outlets) turning the English language into some ADD-riddled lexicon "fo' tha kidz", which is beginning to catch in the UK as well, I am sad to note: 1) It's the second world war, not World War II. It wasn't a fucking sequel. 2) Nine Eleven? NINE ELEVEN?? What the fuck is that? A subsidiary of Seven Eleven? That is utterly nondescript - it gives no indication of the nature of the event, it's barely even recognisable as a date. It relies entirely on context or prior knowledge, which defeats the object of having language in the first place. The date is the eleventh of September (or if you like, September the eleventh), and the event should be referred to as the September the eleventh attacks. Making something sound "punchier" is not a justifiable reason for any major media outlet reduce the English language to a series of lolspeak-style epithets. If you can't be bothered to use the language properly, then journalism is not the right career for you, I'm afraid. And all the rest of you are at best sheep, at worst idiots for allowing this bastardisation to become a fait accompli. Pillocks.

"It's the second world war, not World War II. It wasn't a fucking sequel."
by buggerbugger
I'm not sure why you'd think this particular term "is beginning to catch in the UK"? We've been referring to it as both the Second World War and World War 2 for as long as I can remember - so, a few decades at least. It's not as if it's some newfangled way of saying things.
-
Now that trailer got me going! I like somber downbeat stuff okay but nice to see that TDKR will also have some lighter moments, and spectacle by the bucketload too - really looking forward to this!
-
"double-yah double-yah two" and moaning about "world war 2" is like saying "the holocaust" is a lame attempt to make a punchier term for "the systematic extermination of the jewish people during the second world war" anyways larry, a retied batman does not exist in your dojo? check out the dark knight returns or batman beyond, bro. tdkr will be amazing. it's slightly cheesy in the sense that you have stuff like catwoman with her long hair hanging out but whatever... maybe batman will hang a lantern on it and she'll have a witty response.
-
May I constructively suggest you go back and work on your use of metaphor?
-
It doesn't sit right because Batman himself has barely been in the trailers. There's a bit were Bane stops a punch, a flash of him in a sewer and a shot of him decked out in a pink glow. OH and the thing with the gun thing. In a minute long trailer for a Batman film Batman himself has appeared in them less than any other character except possible Catwoman, and I'm guessing it's because she looks and sounds a little bit shit. Look at the Marvel trailers, the title character everywhere, look at this bridges and machinery and Morgan Freeman.
-
As in people thinking this will be a bigger film. Good. Downsize expectations, and this will probably be a terrific entertainment.
-
Nolan won't kill Bruce, at worst,Bruce will retire to act as a backer and mentor a new Batman (Levitt) a la Batman Beyond. Bane will be easier to understand, Ra's is a cameo shot at the end. HATHAWAY'S CATWOMAN CLAD ASS WILL LOOK LIKE TWO ARMADILLOS HUMPING IN A PILLOWCASE. That is all.
-
THAT needs to be a DC animated film, with all the robins included. I haven't enjoyed a Batman storyline that much in many moons. Also, Only Conroy or Greenwood are acceptable for late thirties Bruce
-
One buddy comes and chats a little bit, and then another, and then another, and on and on and on. wowowowowowowowowowowowowowowow
-
...you get to the TDK and he has to start doing long lines of dialogue with it. Then it's atrocious.

I'm not looking forward to redoing his origin in the next series of films.
by knowthyself
Cause you know they will. I hope they gloss over it like Batman '89.
-
People have used World War II and second World War interchangably for a long time. World War II is not some name that was recently invented to make the war relevant "fo tha kidz." It is a rather stupid thing to bitch about. Regarding "9-11" (Nine Eleven), say it to just about any person around the world and they will know exatly what you mean. It's not a matter of making it punchier. It is a shorthand method of mentioning a date that has worldwide significance. The context and prior knowledge in this case is universal. Are you trying to say that you Brits NEVER shorten a date like the 6th day of July to 6-7? I hate most news outlets as much as anyone. The examples of stupidity in TV news outlets are too numerous to count, but the examples above are incredibly lame IMO and reek of a sorry attempt to rip apart "those dumb Yanks."
-

Looks like it starts out Vengeance of Bane / Knightfall, then goes a bit Cataclysm / No Man's Land and then a touch of Dark Knight Returns.
by Autodidact
-
Haven't any of you seen the commercials for Dying vacuums? It works like that and I bet even picks up hard to clean stains. When Batman says he's going to clean up the city he means it on many different levels man...
-
If you consider the 3rd movies in trilogies that 1) have been made by the original directors, and 2) were planned as trilogies, the numbers aren't that bad. And we all know who the money grubbers are, and who actually has a story to tell. I say we trust the Director until he gives us a reason not to.
-
Yes, Heath died, I am aware, but its not disrespectful or inappropriate to continue his work. This movie is missing that element of fun that the Joker brings to the table. He should be broken out in the prison scene and play some kind of role here. To ignore him all together is more disrespectful than to include him or at least to reference him. The Dark Knight still gets watched by people and they arent offended. Why cant you at least reference the events of that movie.
-
Twitter should be blowing up in a couple hours.
-
they're praising the ending too which was everyones biggest worry i think. http://www.nolanfans.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=6596&start=350
-
Best third part ever.
-
Avengers already rules the summer, TDKR isnt going to beat 600M+ domestic or 1.5B total, so you need to aim lower for this movie. Honestly I doubt it will do as well as TDK, no Heath death, no Oscar talk no Joker. Bane is a poor substitute for the Joker and ladies hate Hathaway as catwoman in the previews so thats not going to push the movie into TDK range much less avengers range.
-
Bane was in "Warrior". He knows MMA. You're fucked. *crosses fingers for catwoman booty shots*
-
Very good advice! I love the first two Nolan films, but there is no guarantee he won't Spider-Man 3/X-men Last Stand it up with this.
-
Its the joker with a cause, a larger army, and bigger bombs... So, it's not the joker at all then. Hater.
-
and as for wishing you knew nothing about the movie, you don't. The film is 2 hrs, 44 mins. We've seen maybe 15 minutes of footage in all. Hater.

Sounds like you've got no interest in seeing TDKR, so I recommend not clicking on any links, and not going to see it. Or, you could write down all the reasons you think it will suck from how little you actually know about it. And a Hater is someone who looks for, and focuses on, the negative aspects of something. Hater.
-
reactions from the screening are coming in, one guy confirms that JGL doesn't become Batman; he is 'an idealistic beat cop, nothing more'. Whether to believe it or not...
-
and he is categorically not Robin.
-
These Nolan movies are ok, but they lack a true faithfulness to The Batman I grew up with. In the next reboot, I want to see Bats, in a cleanly edited clearly choreographed, martial arts beat down of 5 to 10 guys (he's Bruce Lee with a cape for cryin out loud) I want to see a movie where Batman is the MAIN character and focus (not Ras, the joker or Bane) and it needs to be clear that Bats greatest weapon is his brilliant mind (he's smarter than ANY villain). I want to see Bats use technology that's impressive but doesn't over shadow his physical or mental gifts. Basically, the reboot should portray him as Sherlock Holmes, Bruce lee and James bond rolled into one. While still a human at the peak of conditioning but not invulnerable, his intellect should be shown as invincible. Am I wrong in wanting this and saying that Nolan's Batman falls short?
-
Batman moonlighted in Gotham's underground metal scene. He fronted Gotham-burg death metal pioneers BAT THE GATES in the early 90's. Bats also lent his vocal "talent" to DARK KNIGHT TRANQUILLITY for a bit. He retired when inferior metalcore knock-offs like Utility Belt and All Bat Remains copped his style. Ah, death metal humor...I'm just here to entertain myself.

superherohype.com has pretty much pieced together the entire film...
by TopHat
...spoiled it, that is. If this was 1999, AICN would have already had a script review of this.
-
there are 2 scenes which seem to be constructed from deleted scenes from TDK with Ledger as the Joker. Or it was a CGI Ledger, I couldn't tell. Also, Robin makes a brief appearance played by Ben Affleck.
