12 Minutes Of Lizzy Caplan Quasi-Sequel To Joss Whedon’s THE AVENGERS Included On The Blu-ray!!
“Item 47,” a 12-minute sequel to (spin-off of?) Joss Whedon’s “The Avengers,” will be included on the “Avengers” DVDs and Blu-rays due to hit shelves Sept. 25
The short is also expected to be screened at San Diego’s Comic-Con next week.
Maximiliano Hernández reprises for “Item 47” his “Thor”/“The Consultant”/“The Avengers” role of Agent Sitwell, who this time is tasked alongside a fellow SHIELD agent played by Titus Welliver (the man who would be Smokezilla in “Lost”) to track down a pair of humans who have taken to robbing banks after they stumble upon an extraterrestrial weapon left behind by the invading Chitauri.
The law-breaking couple, Benny and Claire, are played by Lizzy Caplan (“Cloverfield,” “Party Down,” “New Girl”) and Jesse Bradford (“Swimfan”).
Marvel exec Louis D’Esposito directed the short from a screenplay by Eric Pearson, who also wrote the screenplays for two much shorter and less elaborate SHIELD-centric short films – “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor’s Hammer” and “The Consultant” – included on earlier Marvel Blu-rays.
The "Avengers" Blu-ray is also rumored to contain as many as 35 minutes of deleted footage written and directed by Whedon.

Unless they just blow the front of it off, in which case they could have still used dynamite to do that. And what is up with a Marvel exec directing it??? Why didn't they give it to a real director...weird.

Marvel will start producing these to go in front of their features to intro new heroes and villains. It's a NO BRAINER! In a 12-15 minute short, you can get people into characters that they wouldn't sit through an whole movie of BUT would get into as an add on to the Avengers!

According to the description, "they stumble upon an extraterrestrial weapon left behind by the invading Chitauri." Perhaps this couple would have used an uzi, had they stumbled upon one of those, but I guess the Izraeli are much better at holding on to their weapons than the Chitauri. Whether or not it's better at robbing banks is debatable, but it still does become a SHIELD interest, because of the potential scientific value.

it's best not to use a gun at all. Just walk in, calmly tell them that you're robbing the place, and they'll give you the money. That's obviously the preferable course of action. Draws far less attention to you. And those bank tellers aren't going to argue with you or make a scene. They're trained to do exactly what you tell them to, and give you the money. It's no skin off their asses. And even if they think there's zero chance of getting shot, they know that they'll almost certainly get fired if they try to play a hero. Plenty of robbers have gotten away with robbing banks by doing nothing more than writing "this is a robbery" on a deposit slip and then handing it to the teller. Unless you're trying to make a big score, like emptying the vault or something, there's NO reason whatsoever to even bring a gun. And if you're planning a big score like that, then you'd better come up with a different plan. That almost never works. It takes too long and creates too much attention. Want to avoid going to prison, then the plan is to get in and out as fast as possible, while creating the least bit of attention. That means a small score. And in the event that the cops catch up to you, the LAST thing you want is to be carrying a gun (alien or otherwise). That significantly increases the risk of either you or the cops getting shot. And as the robber, both of those scenarios suck. You don't want them shooting you, for obvious reasons. And you sure as shit don't want to shoot them, no you're looking at a murder charge. This is all hypothetically speaking, of course. Not like I'd know anything about it, and I certainly don't want to make it look like I'm telling people how to rob banks. But IF someone were to rob a bank, then it'd be best to not carry a weapon at all.

I got my blu player for 39 bucks. You gotta admit, that's cheap. It isn't the greatest, but it does a LOT for a 39 dollar player. It does xvid, mp4, mp3, with the USB port, plays dvds blus and... was 40 bucks basically. There really isn't an excuse anymore not to have one, unless you just don't WANT one.

I work out with free weights 5 to 6 days a week. Been at it since aug 2011. My build is not as good as either chris's. I read they both used a lot of kettlebell routines. I curl 60 pounds. I really would love a video guide of their weekly workout routines. It could encourage some fans to workout as well. I am seeing less and less workout equiptment in store like sport authority walmart and sears. This country is getting out of shape. Maybe its too late for such a wish to be answered. Bonus content can alway access the web though. Please Marvel. I want too know how to get those results.

I fell in love with her in Party Down and Cloverfield, and with the exception of True Blood, I watch pretty much everything she's in. Fanboy crush, of course, but honestly she's just really talented. She has some serious acting chops. Not to mention I think she's absolutely gorgeous. I didn't need another reason to buy the Avengers Bluray. But thank Joss Whedon I have one.

Prometheus and The Avengers were as stupid and badly plotted as each other. Difference was that Prometheus was endearingly stupid and had beautiful visuals, whereas The Avengers was just an hour of 'FIX A SHIP' and two hours of 'HULK SMASH SO MUCH IT'S BORING' rubbish.

Surely you jest that you think Cap is giving the Nazi salute. But just in case........ Look at the cover again. First thing that is very obvious; Cap is throwing his shield not giving any kind of salute. Even on quick glance that is obvious. Lastly, go check some archival footage from WWII. The salute given by Nazi's has the arm extened straight up over their head and palm facing out. The position of Caps arm even in mid-throw bares no resemblance to the Nazi salute.

how do they get the gun up and running? one thing i hated about avengers (probably the only thing) was the easy ending that is overused where you blow up the mothership (or close the wormhole) and everything left fighting just drops dead by magic. i know, i know, the chitauri soldiers had some cybernetic bond with the base...but you see- they never say that at all..and only the deepest marvel geeks might even know that. so to the average movie viewer, we were treated to just ANOTHER ending where all the baddies die when the mother brain dies. ships crash, soldiers fall, carriers crash... so then you're telling me the gun can be used without access to the source?

I'm not some super marvel geek....all I really knew was that the chitauri had been in the ultimates tons..but when they all fell over I thought "oh.so they must have been remote controlled or something" Didn't to have it spelled out or me. Agree about the gun till working though. Seems a wee bit odd.

*Technically*, Captain America doesn't have any super powers either. He's supposed to be at the peak of human physical perfection, but not technically superhuman. Of course, for all intents and purposes, he is. At least, that's how I always understood it. And in the Marvel Universe, not the Ultimates universe so it may not apply here anyway.

I'd say it's pretty clear he DOES have superpowers. He may not be doing anything that a peak human couldn't do, but Captain America didn't undergo their training. Instead, he got those abilities via an experimental procedure. Now he can't run as fast as Quicksilver, cause as much destruction as Hulk, or throw as hard as Thor... but he can do all those things to a post-human standard. Put it this way, Batman trained for years to perfect his fighting skills. And at best he draws with Captain America, with the creative team of JLA/Avengers confirming that, to them, after a long fight Captain America would win!

Not sure what they did for Avengers, but I read an interview they did jointly right before their individual movies came out. Both reported doing lots of compound exercises with heavy weights (squats, deadlifts, bench press, etc.) for medium reps. They also reported eating a ton, which of course is necessary when you're trying to get a lot bigger. Interestingly enough, Hemsworth said he loved the routine, and kept with it even after Thor was finished filming; Evans noted that he hated it and the constant exercise made him miserable and he couldn't wait to stop it. You be the judge if that is reflected in how they looked in Avengers later on as compared to their own movies (i.e., did Hemsworth remain big or perhaps even get bigger, and did Evans present as smaller, etc.).

Agreed with others saying the same thing. Highly capable actor, crazy beautiful without being overt (Scarjo or Angelina, etc), and obviously willing to do what is needed from a character's perspective (her role on True Blood was fantastic and far too short). And butterface? Really? What does that even mean? I get "potato face" with someone like Renee Zellwegger - she's not an unattractive woman by any stretch but she's got those post-child chubby cheeks that leads to the "potato" slight I guess..but butterface for Lizzy Caplan? As in what..soft features? That's bad? Or is it drooping features? Like a girl with big eyes? Amanday Seyfried? Butterface because of big eyes? That's a bad thing? Would Bettie David be a butterface? I liked her in Cloverfield but thought she was amazing in True Blood - beautiful, talented, and unafraid of role demands (she was naked a LOT in TB, forgive my bias) - but a butterface, whatever you potential eunuchs mean it to be, she most certainly is not.

They want to sell more of the 3D blu-rays which, by the way, has a way better cover. http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Avengers-3D-Blu-ray/30655/ (Even if it is still a bad Photoshop montage at least the whole team is on the front.) I'm just praying this is just the slip cover and the case looks better. Or maybe some of the stores will do their own variations of slip covers/cases. Similar to the previous Potter or Marvel films. Either way, fail is upon us.

Butterface is a dopey way of describing a woman with a great body but an unattractive face. (I.e. "She's hot, well, everything Butterface (but her face)") Dumb and completely off the mark in terms of Ms Kaplan. She's beautiful by any definition. The fact that she's a good actress and seems to be cooler than shit (think Zooey before everyone turned against her) is just icing on a delectable cake.

I finally saw it last week, in 3-D (a waste, it wasn't used well). The movie was slightly better than OK in my book - little more than extended fight scenes between different combinations of Avengers, none of whom were ever in any danger from the others. Loki wasn't interesting enough to carry the movie, and the Chitauri were totally generic. Fun at the movies? A weak yes. Deserving of more money than most third-world countries? No.
