Bradley Cooper And Jennifer Lawrence Fall Crazy In Love In Trailer For David O. Russell's SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK!

We've got a brand new trailer for David O. Russell's latest, which is based on Matthew Quick's acclaimed novel about a former teacher who returns to live with his parents after spending four years in a mental institution (he thinks it's only been four months). Bradley Cooper looks suitably unhinged as the teacher, while Jennifer Lawrence seems on her considerable game as an equally nutty widower who becomes something of a love interest. The supporting cast is impressive (Robert De Niro, Chris Tucker, Shea Wigham and ANIMAL KINGDOM's awesome Jacki Weaver), while O. Russell appears to be dialed in. I'll stop yammering and let you watch the trailer.
The film is due out November 21, 2012, so expect a healthy awards push from The Weinstein Company. Could this be Lawrence's first Oscar?

Not as bad as the 34y age difference between the then 52 year old Bill Murray and 18 year old Scarlett Johansson. I get why they do it. I get the Hollywood double standard about how a guy gets distinguished as he gets older and a woman is an " old hag" once she hits 30, but still. It's a 15y+ age difference. Bradley Cooper coulda been her teen dad on some reality show. Weird. Cooper is about my age. At 38, I'd look like a damn perv cavorting around town with a 21 year old. Talk about fiction. Really. As for the movie itself... Looks okay. I've seen better looking mental illness/issues flicks. Girl Interrupted and Lars & the Real Girl spring to mind.

There's gotta be a story there. Did he go crazy or something? Anyway, this looks promising. I bet Russell never mouthed off to DeNiro like he did Lilly Tomlin. Punk would have caught a beatdown. Yeah-DeNiro's old but I bet he could take Russell.

Isn't he making a movie with Christian Bale? Man, I'd love to be a fly on the wall when those two get into it. Nice to see Chris Rock in something that seems whatchable. I always thought he was great in JACKIE BROWN and then pissed his time away with those lame-ass Ratner movies.

I was disappointed when I saw that David O. Russell was making "the Fighter," as it felt like an attempt to make a "popular" movie. I can't say how impressed I was though when I finally saw it.

He added just enough surrealism to the film that instead of taking the edge off of the drama there was an added sense of the metaphysical.

That guy can do no wrong as far as I'm concerned. The Fighter is my least favorite of his films, and even that one was pretty good.
