Jonah Hill Is Back On The Horse For DJANGO UNCHAINED!!
The Kidd here...
Quentin Tarantino had his eyes set on Jonah Hill for a part in DJANGO UNCHAINED at one point, but due to some other projects that caused some scheduling issues, Hill wasn't able to make it work in order to be a part of the production.
However, now that some time has passed and some things have cleared, Deadline reports that Hill is back in the fold for DJANGO, although in a different role than he was originally being viewed for. In the beginning, it was the sweet Scotty Harmony, a small but pivotal part that has a hand in Django's wife Broomhilda (Kerry Washington) crossing paths with Leonardo DiCaprio's Calvin Candie. That role was then passed onto Sacha Baron Cohen, who was forced to drop out of the film not too long ago... but instead of handing the role back over to Hill, QT apparently has something else in mind.

Guys, he's being directed by Quentin Tarantino. The man knows what he's doing. Applause for the weight loss for the dude, that shit is hard to do. Some of us dont have great metabolisms that overclock themselves. My boy Dave has to run around the shower to get wet and eats boxes of Oreos whenever, I can eat a cheeseburger and gain 2 pounds. And it's a fucking crime that someone like Rickman or Sutherland haven't been nominated and yet Hill has. I'm not hating and take nothing away from Hill. I consider him a capable actor as he's never broken my suspension of disbelief in the films i've seen him in. even the recently geek lauded Channing Tatum was painful to watch at first but he's apparently learned as he's gone along with more roles...exactly like Jonah Hill! Have Lee or Sutherland EVER done anything that looked like training on the job? of course not. and yet no noms? Maybe I haven't seen him in everything he's done to fully judge but if what yourmomsbox3 says is true (it probably is) then it's just bullshit that all those patently superior actors not getting a nomination nod while someone like Hill does. That's more a criticism on the academy to be sure but still..Sutherland? Lee? I don't think he's remotely as talented as someone like John Candy was and yet did Candy ever get recognized for that talent while he was alive? It's like Chris Farley makes a movie and some asshat cries so now he's a fucking oscar caliber actor and yet some of these other guys have genuine careers of turning in fantastic performance after fantastic performance. And who gets the nod? Hill and not Lee. Halle Berry and not Whoopi Goldberg, etc. But then again, I still don't think 'Return of the King' was worth best picture - we may think it's more a "trilogy award" but it wasn't (since they don't exist).

Least, not the way the role was written. I mean, Jonah Hill fit the part to a tee. And now, it seems, he's not even playing Scotty Harmony any more. Maybe Hill plays one of the white traders near the end who, inadvertently, help to spring Django? We'll see.

A friend of mine is working on the film, and he said that Kurt had some family issues at the time, so he was forced to drop out. He said there was zero drama about it... QT moved quickly to recast
