How Many Video Game Characters Can You Spot In This Image From WRECK-IT RALPH?
Nordling here.
WRECK-IT RALPH looks like a lot of fun for those of us who grew up with arcades in the 1980s. Hell, it just looks like a lot of fun for fans of videogaming altogether. This shot from the film has more characters than you can shake Mario's hammer at, and it looks like the Q-Bert crew has hit on hard times. Que up the @!#?@! for the little guy. WRECK-IT RALPH opens this November. See how many of your favorite characters made it into this shot (click to embiggen):

But not Pixar?
-
I don't need a plot, just videogame references. Questions: A) does this look a little like the scare floor from monsters inc. B)will they make a video game for the movie
-
The people of miami dade have nothing better to do today than honor Captain Missed the Mark for choosing to blow things up in south florida.
-
I still have an NES with Q-Bert... one of the best games ever. Love Burger Time too, which they have in the BG.

I would have done the old games lower rez. Looks like they went with the way the characters look on marquees. Thnk

thank UltraTron for this movie everyone. Remember how I posted the idea for Pixar's Flynn's Arcade in detail on this site. Remember how Disney made this instead

Dunno if I like everything rendered at same level. Easy way to do it sure. 2D pixely look for older characters probably didn't pan out if there were concepts

I hope there is a cameo from Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends

Maybe they just worked out a cross-promotion deal so it didn't cost them anything.
-
Bison, Chun-Li and Zangief from Street Fighter and Q-Bert. The rest seem pretty generic, space-marines, zombies, football players that could be from any game really.
-
I caught the trailer for this over the Disney/Pixar Memorial Day weekend of re-releases, and we're looking at the ghosts from Pac-Man, Bowser and so many more.
-
If I squint, I think I can see Q-bert too.
-
If they can get them in this I'll really show respect.
-
While it does resemble the scare floor slightly, the room in this particular scene is modeled after Grand Central Station
-
So many third party characters from different franchises. I thought I saw Cloud Strife in the background. I definitly see Q-bert and his homies and miss Chun li and Zangif.

All this movie needs is Master Chief, Solid Snake and of course...Albert-Fucking-Wesker.
by Stalkeye
No Kratos? I guess he'll show up only if there's an orgy being held.
-
Definitely looks to be modeled on Grand Central Station. Here's a pictures from quite a similar angle http://www.andrewbrooksphotography.com/image.php?ID=3277

I see Chun Li from Street Fighter, and a bunch of bald dudes in the background

so will the characters stay in character outside of the games?
by Spandau Belly
Or will they all interact like a bunch of actors who just play roles and work together? Like will Mario and Bowser be all buddy buddy or will they regard each other as enemies?

This looks like it may be similar to Monsters Inc., but w/ video games

Samus in In Yellow suit? Ryu could just be a generic Ninja guy and doesn't really look like the NES/SENS version. Link, is hard to make out. I think I also see what looks like Zombie from Plants vs Zombies.
-
This could be cool.

Written next to Pac-Man. Fond memories of my Intellivision console!!
-
just above the cherry I think
-
And no, that's not a criticism... I'm looking forward to this one. But you've gotta admit, all these different characters from different companies is reminiscent of that movie.
-
of this at CinemaCon - hated it.
-
Just need mario and kirby front and center.
-
I see the little thieves from Golden Axe standing on the benches next to M. Bison! And is that Bomberman on the bottom right?

Today's youth misses something great in the old skool arcade...
by Darth Macchio
I don't mean pinball but all the 8 bit (and advanced) arcade games and, my point, the arcade itself. Once upon a time, no game on a home computer or video game could come close to what you'd get in an arcade. And I must say I love the idea of those characters brought out of their respective games ala "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" (hopefully better than the movie version of course)... And don't bother with half-assed NES emulations...get MAME itself and seek out the actual original roms of these games. At one point, I wasn't playing the NES version of Q-bert but the actual "line by line" code from the original Q-bert ROM run via MAME (multi-arcade machine emulator)...its not "like playing the game"...it IS the game.
-
I think...

Do any of you remember an 8-bit arcade game
by Get_Me_An_18-Man_Fire_Team_In_12_Hours
Where a guy has to fight characters 1-on-1, and there's a guy with nunchaku called "Chuck" and a girl with throwing stars called "Star"? Can't remember this game's name for shit, but I used to see it at the roller skating place. Any idea what it's called?
