Bad news for Brad Garrett.
38-year-old “Sliders” icon Jerry O’Connell will play Herman Munster in “Mockingbird Lane,” the hourlong pilot reboot of “The Munsters” masterminded by Bryan Fuller (creator of “Dead Like Me,” “Wonderfalls” and “Pushing Daisies”).
Some, like my pal Harry Knowles, were pulling for 6'5" "Look Around You" icon Peter Serafinowicz.
The 6’2” O’Connell will be a shorter Herman than the 6’5" Fred Gwynne.
News of Herman’s casting comes on the same day Mads Mikkelson was announced to play Dr. Lecter in NBC’s “Hannibal,” also masterminded by Fuller.
Eddie Izzard (“The Riches”) will play the vampiric Grandpa in the "Mockingbird" pilot while Charity Wakefield (“The Raven”) has been cast as Marilyn, the clan’s beautiful cousin.
O'Connell appeared on 88 episodes of "Crossing Jordan." His more recent series have inluded "Carpoolers," "Do Not Disturb" and "The Defenders."
