Just in time to package with their SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN over the weekend, Universal Pictures has released a new trailer for the Jeremy Renner-fronted BOURNE LEGACY.
If you were a fan of the original trilogy of Matt Damon films who wondered how the series could possibly continue on without Jason Bourne, the new trailer goes a long way in showing that this isn't so much a sequel as a companion piece. It also opens up all sorts of possibilities for the franchise as a whole, as the restrictions that it must follow just one agent have been lifted. This time, it could be Renner's Aaron Cross. The next time, someone else... maybe a female sometime in the future. It's like THE CROW, only with the potential to be done right as long as they can live up to the standards set by Brandon Lee, or, in this case, Damon.
There's a lot less shaky cam going on here with Paul Greengrass having been replaced Tony Gilroy and some tremendous stunt work on display. Could this possibly turn out better than we ever could have expected from a Damon-less BOURNE?
