Zoe Saldana Joins MACHETE KILLS!!

The Kidd here...

It looks like Zoe Saldana has slipped under the radar and into the cast of MACHETE KILLS. According to Machete himself, Danny Trejo, in an interview with Moviehole, he gets to put his lips to not only her, but also Jessica Alba, Sofia Vergara and Michelle Rodriguez. Lucky bastard. Consider me envious. “The sequel to MACHETE, MACHETE KILLS, is going to be a lot more over-the-top than MACHETE. We’ve got Sofia Vergara, who is a star in her own right, Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, and Zoe Saldana – and guess what? I get to kiss all of ‘em.”

I've been hearing from sources that the script for the sequel "kicks the hell out of the first one," so, if you enjoyed MACHETE, the follow-up should be right up your alley. If you didn't, MACHETE KILLS may still wind up making up for it.

As for who Saldana will play, well, who knows at this point? Rodriguez is keeping the details quiet at this point, and using misdirection as to what the film is actually about certainly does help. The returning cast will be reprising their roles from the first film, but all that business about Machete being brought in to stop Mel Gibson from launching a missile... Bullshit! Rodriguez admitted as much to Empire that they needed to put out some type of synopsis early on, so he just made one up.

"That synopsis we put out is misdirection — it’s all fake. Machete is recruited by the President, that’s true, but there’s no cartel leader and the weapon in space is just one of our early story ideas. That said, there is still a space element, for sure. We’ve given the character a much bigger playground. It’s going to be like a James Bond movie, with a Bond-style villain.”

Okay, so moving towards space for MACHETE KILLS AGAIN looks like something Rodriguez is serious about doing... but, beyond that, your guess is as good as mine.

How about one more of Saldana for the road?
